I just installed Aces High 2 and i was trying out a bomber, i had played this game before and nothing like this happend When i move my mouse around when i was in the cockpit of the bomber specifically the camera would follow, it didn't do that before and also the turrets won't fire how do i turn off the viewing thing so it doesn't follow my mouse??

The limit for dogfight mode (which is most similar to what Aces High provides) is 128 players right now. Coop missions allow for 64 players although with a simple mod you can raise that to 128 as well.

There are some intersting mod developments underway for IL-2 such as the moving dogfight mod with working radar installations and a moving frontline and the ability to capture sectors and airfields in real time similar to the MMO sims

@flintrocks: Yes the stock game supports 128 players on a dogfight server. However the normal dogfight mode does not allow for moving ground objects, only stationary!

However there is an awesome mod called "Moving Dogfight server" which corrects exactly this shortcoming. So now we can have moving ships, tanks, cars,... on a dogfight server... We can even have large formations of AI aircraft going for their own business, and we can finally spawn from moving aircraft carriers online!

Almost forgot the iL-2/AH2 debate. Yeah iL-2 has more planes, and lots of maps, but you have to CREATE the maps and scenarios if you want anything other than Russia or Navy scenarios.

You are wrong about the content patching for iL-2, at least the first three patches were to fix things.

As far as "easy to find and install" goes, they might be easy in the EU, but I have personally found them a regular headache in the USA. 

Yes it is indeed a beautiful game, with the ability to control nearly every aspect of flight control.

The spit 9 is notorious for being hard to shoot with while at low spped, she bucks around worse than a pissed off Kangaroo.

So his aim from the spit is quite good considering its habits. The 109F4 is a smooth plane but ultimately not as fast and on par in agility with the spit 9.

So when an F4 comes up against a spit 5 the F4 is doomed

Yeah it pretty easy all you have to do is lower the flaps one notch start your engine make shure you are lined up with the run way then throttle up keep the plane on the run way wait till you get your air speed up then rotate (pull back on the stick) slowly raise your landing gear once you get over 1,000 ft raise flaps and your flying hope this helps.

Another important point: Remember to use the rudder to keep your plane from twisting and turning during taking off. You can start off at low throttle and slowly increase it while at the same time making adjustments to your rudder. Pulling back on the stick really helps in keeping your plane stable.

Yeah, they take skills, just very little of 'em. I started with the Spitfire mk IX, V, and XVI and stuck with 'em. I knew how to fly 'em and I was a force to be reconned with, don't get me wrong, I loved flyin my jug or p38 and sometimes even the 190, but Spit Mk IX was my plane.

Actually I've been playing for over 2 years now, and by the way you act I would say that YOU'VE been playing for a few weeks. Yes some planes are easier to fly than others. A Spit 16 is easier to kill with than a P-40, but thats the thing!

In what kind of respect are IL-2s physics off? IMO IL-2 does give a much better representation of how its like to fly a real aircraft because the aircraft behave more naturally. The controls in AH on the other hand feel kind of jerky and seem to respond far too well to control responses over all axes but especially with the rudder.

IL-2 also probably has the highest fidelity flight models of WWII fighters up to date, after all the devs had over 7 years time to perfect them.

Have you ever been behind the controls of a real aircraft? Much less a bird going 400 mph designed to be quick, tight, and sleek? I think that it's designed well. PLUS in AHII you can reset how sensitive your stick is to what axes you use... AHII, imho, is all around better than IL-2, but both are brilliant games.

I know how an aircraft should generally handle like in flight and its certainly not like its depicted in AHII which feels like flying on rails. It just lacks the certain degree of instability thats inherent to EVERY aircraft.

The only advantage of AHII over IL-2 IMO is the massively multiplayer component...

1st Lt. USANG, F-15c, 104th/131st. In additon to my hours in that, I have over 500 in various single engines (cessenas), and very little in gliders. Maybe you should try to turn off your stall limiter? Or maybe try to set some of your controls? The default settings are outta wack, but they can be changed quite easily.

I did switch off the stall limiter as I prefer to fly with highest realism settings in flight sims! The controls are ok and very responsive its just that the aircraft in general in AH2 and most other flight sims for that matter are far too stable. Not saying that IL-2 is perfect but it has the best respresentation of a dynamic flight model.

What i meant guys was in IL2 the planes stall far too agressively. The snap spin at the slightest hint of a stall when in real life the plane just drops.

And AH2 has the great feature of having that right allowing for much more exciting dogfights like this one and tactics where IL2 is just a BnZ pick and Ho fest.

I have about the same number hours in single engine, mostly the Beech T-34 Mentor and a variety of radial engine types.

It is my humble opinion that the only thing missing in AH2 and IL-2 are G affects on the physical body. And AH2 is by far better than the bug ridden, and limited in scope iL series.

Sorry but your take on IL-2 is complete non-sense! So does AH2 have no patches or what!? Every game does and in the case of IL-2 many of these patches had nothing to do with bug fixes but simply introduced new and free of charge aircraft and maps.

And about the limited scope, the current IL-2 1946 has over 300 flyable aircraft, with mods which make the AI aircraft flyable I guess the figure is beyond 400, all fronts are covered with dozens of maps. It simply is the most comprehensive WWII sim!

Aces High 2 has patches to be sure. They AUTO patch when the game starts.

On the other hand, iL-2 you have to SEARCH for the patch then MANUALLY install it... Oh yeah, you have to install them sequentially in iL-2, whereas AH2 does that for you with one patch.

So as far as nonsense goes, you need to check your facts, like I do.

You're missing the point, talking a game bad because it has patches (that have to be downloaded manually) is hardly a fair assessment. And it's not as if these are hard to come by!

Fact is that with almost every IL-2 patch there has been a set of free of charge objects/aircraft/maps etc. from the developers. I'd say half of the ingame aircraft were free gifts from the devs!

As for the scenarios: At least you CAN make your own missions, gives you a lot of freedom in what you want to do

A proper 109f-4 pilot would be able to do this easy tmercer6, I've done it in the f, 2-3 notches of flaps, 75% throttle, get the spitty goin over 300, and that spit is a sittin duck. Spits don't turn well over 300 mph (psst, that's their weakness noobs who say 'spits a noob plane')

Then once you play the game a bit you'll find it harder to find a "good" fight since you're out looking for 1-on-1's or 2-on-2's, but it'll still be a fun game (9.0 hehe) because...well....the game is a drug :D

It's not just being able to turn fast...and in some cases the 109 was superior in this as well. It also has to do with your altitude ceiling and climb and dive capabilities. For these aspects, hands down me109 dude.

While the ME109 was able to turn tighter at very low speeds due to it high lift devices the spits much lower wing loading meant it could turn much quicker and was more responsive. Also the Spitfires cambered wing would enter a gradual stall allow pilots to push the edge of the envelope more easily. The ME109 would just drop of the sky with no warning if pushed as hard as the Spit.

Essentially yes, but they need to be historical, meaning they must be real skins that saw action not just any random design. There are probably 200 or so skins in AH2, possibly more as players create new ones all the time. This skin was made by a squady of mine.

No, the best version of the Me-109 was, by far, the K, who appeared only in late 1944. The F series was the second best and could match the Spitfire V evenly. Both planes were inferior to the Fw-190 who appeared in the skies at the same time, though.

I think it's a really good. This Me-109 is a Me-109F. Probably a best version of Me-109 in war world II. Me-109F was better than Spitfire Mark I and Mark II but not so good like Spitfire Mark V. Both of these airplanes - Me-109F and Spitfire Mk V - have appeared on front in 1941.

I have to step in and say that the 109F usually gets the nod over its contemporary, the Spitfire Mark V. The Focke Wulf 190A was superior to them both. The RAF had to rush the Spitfire Mark IX into service to counter those German planes.

You are right as to who wound up with air superiority. To me the Spit I and Bf 109E were even. I can't say for sure, but the Germans looked like they bungled their strategy-Goering ordered his fighter pilots to defend the bombers rather than go after the RAF fighters. Galland protested but was overruled.

I believe it only had about 30 minutes flying time over England...the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots always knew that the Messerschmitts weren't going to be around for long!

Yes, my squadmate Cooley was in the 109, I was in the Spit. Credits are at the end of the movie. Fight was staged of course :)
