Ive studied ferret noise for a long time. had ferrets for many years. they usualy dook regularly but when they dook changes from regular to fast dooks and high picth quik dooks, they are being hurt, playing to rough, they are annoyed and sometimes is followed by a hiss...
Ooh Question? So, I've never owned a ferret, lots of other animals. I do currently own a kitten (6 mnths) would a ferret be ok with just a kitty or is it really best to get them in pairs? :) thanks if you answer
@KpMissPanda Hello, I have a new account because that one has been hacked. But to answer your question, it really depends. They might get along, or not with a cat. Usually cats are really territorial... so I can't really tell. But i can tell you that ferrets are way happier with a buddy :)
@AnghellFire The noises they make are to talk to each other. Neither of the ferrets cries so they are not in pain or fearful. If one to the ferrets didn't want to play it would tell the other one to back off, My ferrets (Hunter and Zoee) hiss and make noises like that all the time. When I want to play with my ferrets I make the same funny hissing noise and they run over and pounce on me. Also if Hunter can't find Zoee he makes that noise and she comes out of nowhere to jump on him and play. So
@ColormeCaitlan Thank god! Someone else who understands you can't bathe a ferret every week. I've been tell people that for years and no one believes me. I've had ferrets all my life, and I have two right now Hunter and Zoee. I only bathe them about 4-5 times a year. Most of the time ferrets smell because of their surrounding. Litter boxes should be scooped twice a day and fresh litter should be put in the box once a week. Also their bedding should be washed and their room(s) vacuumed once a we
If you are worried about the way they are playing a good rule of thumb is No Poop, No blood No Foul.. they play rough but as along as there is no fear poops/pee or blood drawn all is in play.
Is that not their hurting noise? Our ferrets only do that when one appears to be chewing the other's face a bit too hard so I tell the one doing the biting to stop it. Killjoy? =/
@starskeexx0 No, not really. You get used to it rather fast. They smell somewhat like honey... I can't explain it more perciselly, but you'll get the idea at the very moment of seeing a ferret.
@starskeexx0 their shit box does lol. I bathe my ferrets once or twice a week if they start smelling musty. only the litter box smells though, the ferrets do have a musty odor, but its not a strong one that you will smell unless you have your nose up to their fur.
@starskeexx0 they don't smell to bad you just half to bathe them about once a week ive noticed because ive had both male and female that females actually smell less males do!! there so worth it though i love mine so much there awesome once you get one or two your hooked at least i was:)
@Sailormoon1990cmp You actually don't want to bathe that often. They produce natural oils in their fur, which is that musk they have. If you bathe them that often, it will actually make that musk worse, and dry out their skin. A lot of ferret owners only bathe their ferrets once every 3 or 4 months, some wait as long as a year.
@AnghellFire you know that means they're PLAYING my dogs growl at eachother when they play and don't say "oh they're completely different animals" animals are similar
@AnghellFire you know, in the wild these animals play rough with their siblings, so they learn all the hunting techniques since very young, its all in the nature's evolutionary marvels

When I first played this video my ferrets freaked out. They ran under the bed than dragged my iPod under the bed. Your fuzzies are very cute!
