  • 20 people jumped and hit dislike accidently

  • I dont wanna be a teacher after seeing part 1 :X

  • Both the American and japanese version of this movie Are quite chilling. Just the thought of never being safe puts me on edge. I believe these movies were very well thought out. And have a great deal of thought into them. Plus it's fricken scary. :3

  • SCARY

  • before i watch horror movie in youtube i will read the comment first...i like to watch horror movie but i am really scared of ghosts xD

  • much love for japanese people, they make the craziest shit ever.

this movie is 10 times scarier than the american version

  • i don't know why the grudge dosen't scare me at all.. but i've been watching horror movies since i was 3

  • Hate me for saying this if you must, but the American version is much better.

  • I love this fucking movie! It is the best horror movie!

  • It's the atmosphere in the originals (the music, simplicity and everything)...

the US remakes have no atmosphere anymore.

  • where i can see ju-on the grudge 1 ? when the detective is going to burn the house I only saw it one time with the second one in cinemax >.<

  • My favorite horror movie!!! :3

  • Paranormal Activity is only scary at the end

  • i like the way how shimizu made a short or two and it spawned off a random story which was just awesome and it even made remakes, Takashi Shimizu Forever!!

  • @Trude174 I laughed as I watched Paranormal Activity.

  • ロード遅い

  • I dunno about you guys, but the thought of a vengeful ghost that will follow you everywhere until it kills you seems pretty terrifying to me.

  • @AwesomeTactical It's especially terrifying because it's realistic. O_O

  • @AwesomeTactical Just keep your eyes closed all the time. It can't kill you if you can't see it.

  • anyone know which ju-on/grudge movie it was where the first part was like, there was this santa claus delivery man delivered a cake, but when he entered the house, this lady kept saying, "wait, im hanging myself" or something like that and she was in the kitchen... and this little kid wearing yellow uniform just kept walking but not talking.... and that delivery guy too was haunted coz he got "involved" in the curse by entering the cursed house... please tell me or send me the link! thanks!

  • @BJ143able Ju-on: old woman in white

  • This movie scares the crap out of me because it is the perfect blend of reality and imagination. It has that unstoppable evil chasing you feeling like Kruger or Jason or Myers, but it also has that you dont know what's real and what's not like Silent Hill games. This series made me terrified as a child, and even now I hate ging into an empty house.

  • "seeenseeeiiii"... CREEPY

  • Is this shit related to the Grudge? e.e

  • @Deadinside449 ...this is the original movie (V-Cinema) made 4 years before the American version. It was a surprise hit which ultimately lead to the theatrical releases, both Japanese and American.

  • @Deadinside449 Emo retard

  • My Mom says japanese horror movies aren't scary cause you gotta read subs

The only japanese movie she saw was Ringu.

  • @DessieDaBanana Did your mam ever thinked about all other countries, such as Holland where we must read subs everytime we see a movie? :P

  • @DessieDaBanana The words isn't what really scares you.

  • When me and my friend watched this at her house, we were so scared we screamed like 5 year olds, but on the way home I rang her and started making that creepy noise and I just heard her scream down the phone. After that her elder brother hid under her bed, painted like the Grudge and made the noise again from under her bed.

  • prior to the 70s except for a few films american movies were also about psychological thrillers, not mad slashers (even psycho was more psychological thriller than Jason-type slasher). asian movies have their "Audition" type movies, too.

  • LOL they have like a family buisness.. cute little toshio lures them in to the house and his mother kills them

  • NOO DONT GO INTO THE HOUSE!

  • i thought this movie was bitch now im sitting here with all the lights cut on in my house im 20

  • what thuss the word ju-on means actually anyone knows? x3

  • @ZeeyyDarling um..probably grudge?

  • @yamadaumi oohhhh ;O okie x3

  • I'm pretty tired of people asking why people always fall in horror movies. :P

It's to create suspense. There, now we have that out of the way! xD

  • What just happened...in that movie?...didn't really get it..

  • (n・_・`n)

  • the title animation already scared the fuck out of me :D

  • What's really sad is that they even kill people who are trying to help them, people who are unaware that their death is imminent.

  • ;)

  • Favorite scary movie

  • The Ju-On/Grudge series scares the shit out of me. When I watch the movie, I always look around me to make sure nothing bad is going to happen :P

  • @YoutuJ3eJ3lows Yeah I don't know what it is. I have watched so many horrors that I don't get scared often by them, but the sight of Yoko always gets me completely freaked out.

  • i agree with you atomichead777

  • Personally, I would prefer making a TV movie using a Studio Camera than a Film Camera because although it may look very low budget, it looks and feels alot more realistic and believable at the same time.

  • What is interesting is that the majority of Japanese TV Movies are usually filmed with Studio Cameras whilst the majority of Japanese Theatrical Movies are usually filmed with Film Cameras.

  • There's two versions of the original Japanese Ju-On movie. The first version is the original Japanese low budget TV movie which is this one that came out first back in 2000. The second version is the higher budget re-boot Japanese theatrical movie which came out in 2002. I had the TV Movie on Japanese DVD a while back. I don't believe that the TV Movie has ever been released on Region 1 or Region 2 DVD, but I could be wrong. The TV Movie has got to be the best one and the most frightening.

  • Before: I wonder if I'll sleep tonight, after all....

I watch a lot of horror movies...but I always end up scaring myself more than the movie scares me...

I was like...oh, twelve when I saw the American remake and had metaphorical strokes for a month.

Example: I scared myself senseless every time I left the bathroom; I always held up my hair brush at ready to bash something's eyes out after opening the door so quickly I jammed my finger once.

  • 6:55 oh! what's that?? o_o

  • @redbutterfly57 It's hard to tell, but it's a dead person. At 7:02 the thing says "Ma's Grave."

  • @WaterLily728

oh! thanks for telling me that. I didn;t knew it before!

  • @redbutterfly57 You're very welcome :3

  • :I awh dear teacher gowwna die

  • was the american 'the grudge' filmed in the same house?

  • @XMissMurderSceneX No, Takashi Shimizu (director of this movie, its sequels and the U.S. Reamke) built a house almost equal, only slightly bigger.

Also adds a very big closet upstairs. According to him, the American actors like big houses.

  • 呪怨キャラあだ名をつけてみた

    伽耶子 伽耶子っち

    俊夫 とっしー

    剛雄 たっけー

  • you wouldn't happen to have the dvd extra scenes of the staff telling ghostly horror stories

  • even tho this version isnt scary, asian horror movies are still way better

  • 好恐怖!!!!

  • im phillipino=)

  • asian ghost girl are creepier

  • watching itt blazed right now

  • whats up with ppl tripping over flat surfaces in horror movies?

  • @K2010UT What's up with the fact that its always a woman in high heels that gets chased by the creature then trips over nothing. And then she doesn't get up, she just sits there screaming bloody murder until the creature is less than 2 feet from her...(sighs) its always a woman

  • @K2010UT Because in the world of Ju On the myth about ghosts grabbing peoples legs(thus making them trip) is true.

  • @DekiNoSama the father killed his cat and him

  • i love japanese scary movies. yknow why? cuz they're actually scary. in american scary films, its all about surprise scenes, false alarms, and people who are having sex getting cut to pieces by a chainsaw or whatever. but with japanese movies, they actually SCARE you. i mean, isn't that the point of scary movies? to be SCARY?

  • @atomichead777 YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT !!

I FEEL THE SAME WAY TOO ! :)

  • @atomichead777 Not all america scary movies are like that, what movies are you watching?

IF you watch the block buster ISH films like Friday the 13th and all that, Dont expect it to scare you from the inside, how ever there are some pretty good horror movies only a few, which are like MIRRORS , OR A HUNTING IN CONETICUT, OR even if you just browse in a movie store, you will find some home-made- ish movies that are good

  • @atomichead777 True. But theirs no denying the mid 60's - 70's american horror.

  • @atomichead777 I agree with you. I find most Asian horror movies to be much scary than Hollywood. Maybe because it's a different culture with different legends, but also because it delves into the PSYCHOLOGICAL aspect and not just all about gore.

  • @atomichead777 You're so right! American shockelements are just based on surprise and loud music. They aren't scary! They are just discusting! I mean, "WHO THE F*CK WOULD CUT HIS FOOT WHITH A RUSTY SAW?!" (Greetings to butcher documentations like SAW!) There you can decide if you like to see scary or discusting movies. I'm scared of Kayako and just lough about wannabe prophetes like Jigsaw. (Sorry for bad english ;) )

  • @GegenAkzent saw is more of gore than horror. there's a difference

  • @littlexuaniie Yes I know. But what I want to say is, that many people are thinking they know good horror movies like Saw, texas chainsaw massacre, etc. These movies aren't psycho horror movies. These are spladder horror movies... something completely different. Scary and discusting

  • @atomichead777 I totally agree:)

  • @atomichead777 thank you finally someone that understand why i watch japanese horror films and are obsessed with them

  • @atomichead777 sooo true! its time american directors started being original with their work!

  • 怖ぇぇぇ

  • Somebody should kick Kayako's ass.PUNCH IT AND THAT'S IT MAN

  • Does anyone know why that kid meows?

  • @DekiNoSama ...the reason why Toshio meows is when he was alive he had a pet cat. After killing Kayako, while still in a jealous rage, Saeki (Toshio's father) kills him and his cat (in this movie the manner of that murder is not explained). Because both were killed within the rage of Saeki, both the Spirits of Toshio and his cat are trapped in the curse; the Ju-on and because both boy and cat were close in life, they now are united in death.

  • Gonna have nightmares

  • 清水崇はスバラシィ

  • The Japonase Horror movies are the best. The american remakes stinks

  • I love both versions honestly and even though I hated the third American I would like to see a 4th. I want the relationship between kayacko and her husband better explained and for anyone who watched the third it makes me mad because.... the director states that Americans want to see a faster and stronger Kayacko and a way to defeat the curse. That is what runied it even though the kills were cool. Lets go back to the roots and do the right thing.

  • I just bought a whole bunch of Asian horror films cause in my opinion they are much more scary! So i got the whole Ju On seires, the whole One Missed Call series, Audition, Cursed, Mother, and Dark Water. I also got the American remakes cause I like to watch both version. The Asian story line is better, but the Americans have better graphic's.

  • @angiepangie1717 Dark water(Japanese version) made me cry D:

  • Fuck this movie...! American ghost movie is not scary but this one is hell yeah fucking scary!

  • 14 peoples went to saeki's house

  • It'll make me feel better if we were all watching the movie but it's just me and my black cat right now O_0

  • If you are afraid of the 112 Ocean Avenue, see what's waiting for you inside the Saeki House.

  • This is one of my most beloved movies...I've seen it 4 times, and I'd watch it 10 more and still get the creeps every time. A classic!!

  • so... the grudge is a remake :P didn't know

  • Fucking hell my heart is pounding already

  • Japanese version is better than the American Versions.

  • @TheMASTERFURIOUS i got bored with kayako turning into whoever she wanted in the u.s version, because i think the character needs a break so you'll think they're going to survive... and in the u.s version they weren't allowed to use takeo killing kobayashi's wife and taking the foetus... it was sick watching him smash the bag on railings in the jap version,...

  • AWESOME!!!

  • ok...so, i ran out of asian horror movies to watch. the ones i havent watched yet dont look too interesting or scary, so i finally drugged myself enough to want to watch this movie -.-" so, yeah. lets hope i dont die half way through. wish me luck, im going in! :o

  • @Mikuru83 same here ahah i know what you mean!!! >_<

  • @KayHeL it wasnt that bad in the end, i just tend to overreact a little too much xD

  • @Mikuru83 good for you! I had froze at some parts ahaha >_<

  • @KayHeL lol, i did too though xD

  • this movie is freaking scary

  • I just wish they would hurry the hell up and release Jun - On 1 and 2 onto DVD outside of Japan and Scandanavia. I own the rest of these films and you cant even buy the first 2 films in the series? Why release The Grudge 1 and 2 before even the original films?

  • This is so sad :-(

  • subtitle

    ×kayoko→kayako

  • It's mudge and mudge better then the American version. This looks so more real. I think I get earlyer a nightmare from this one...

  • I watched this movie on OnDemand and it's what got me into J-horror films. I'm addicted, lol. Pretty much simply because I can, I've now watched almost all of the movies in the Ju-on/Grudge franchise--Ju-on, Ju-on 2, Ju-on: The Grudge, Ju-on: The Grudge 2, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, Ju-on: Shiroi rojo, Ju-on: Kuroi Shoujo, 4444444444 and Katasumi. I'm thinking I should read the manga and watch the 3rd American film just so I can say I've sufficiently conquered the franchise, lol

  • @aoitennyo also there is full length mirror short film which is set before or after Ju - on Shiroi Rojo.

  • @aoitennyo the grudge 3 (american v.) is the best of the three. i rlly enjoyed that one. i thought the american version was slightly more scarier than the japanese one, but after watching a series of short clips from the j version, i realized my BIG mistake :o lol

  • @aoitennyo If you like Ju-on you should also check out Ringu and Dark Water too :D

  • goddamn

japanese ppl make the best horror movies

    :D

  • Heck yes guys.. Heck..yes

  • white people ghost is the best only when u see a cross sign that has fire and a whole bunch of white mask...

  • The spider at 0:58 is more scary than the american version of The Grudge, Thumbs up if you agree :)

  • These japoneese people are CRAZY. I will not sleep tonight thinking about that crap XD......i guess thats what makes t a good horror movie

  • Japanese/Thai ghost stories are usually the BEST fullstop

  • i love it.. thumbs up with a two... hahaha...

    american version really sucks...

  • I've never seen the V films until now. I did however, see the American remake The Grudge, and I have to tell ya, that was the scariest damn movie I've ever seen in my life. After I saw that, I found Ju-On 1 & 2 at Best Buy and bought them. Been hooked on these movies ever since.

  • This is a masterpiece of minimalist horror. You don't need a huge budget and layers of CGI to create really visceral terror. I mean, that can help, but if you haven't mastered the basics like this, it won't matter. Personally, I don't think Takashi Shimizu improved on this original film in all of his various remakes and sequels (though he turned it into a lucrative career). Kudos for posting!

  • i think the movie was too short. it was awesome : D but too short D :

  • Uooo! I just realize! [SPOILER]

The final scene of Ju On the Grudge 2

is here on the bridge, the very first scene of the first movie!

    Kayako came full circle! Sick!

  • :< stupid translators the boy in 7:38 said sensai not Mr.kobayashi.... stupid englishmen.... THEY FAIL

  • @2234589 Yup. He does said sensei

  • This is great :P There was no need to make an american remake =.=

    Americanisation ruins everything...

  • THE MOOOOOST CREEPIEST FILM THAT I'M EVER WATCHED!!!::JAPANESSE ARE MASTERS OF HORRORS!!

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this, and with subs to boot. I've been searching for a DVD copy of this for ages, but subbed versions don't exist. I'm tempted to find a way to petition for a release of this in the U.S., but it may be usless considering J-horror isn't as big a market as it once was. Regardless, this is too awesome to ignore--all of the other Ju-On adaptations/remakes are pansy compared to this IMO.

  • is the death of kayako and toshio seen in this movie

  • Asia has some wacky superstition. Was it that boring for them back then?

  • -eyes turn into water dripping hearts- TOSHIO HE IS KAWAII AND HURT!!!! who ever hurt him SHALL FEEL MY WRATH! -turns scarier than the grudge-

  • JAPANESE HORROR FILMS ARE THEE BESTT

thumbs up if u agree :)

  • @bitttersweeet238 but there never in english):

  • @bitttersweeet238

I don't understand how some english/american horros become overrated and such but japanese horrors have that certain something that makes them so freaky xD

  • @bitttersweeet238 true dat

  • the girl going heheho reminds me of friday the 13t the murderer in that did the same thing

  • wait.. is this the Ju-on: The Grudge movie?

  • @doranazz yes

  • @doranazz ...no, it is not Ju-on: the Grudge. This is the original Ju-on, (also known as Ju-on: the curse) made in the year 2000, 3 years before the theatrical release. The original Ju-on is a V-Cinema, a direct-to-video production. It proved to be a surprise hit, due to strong favorable word of mouth which lead to a V-Cinema sequel, Ju-on 2: the curse later in the same year. The popularity of both films lead to Ju-on: The Grudge in 2003, which is really a 3rd sequel.

  • Gotta admit japanese makes the best horror movies, american remakes just makes them Dull.

  • @SilverSalros Why?

  • @SilverSalros because they always take out the best parts and add boring unnecessary information

  • @SilverSalros you should watch Hausu

  • @MrsYoshiYoshi What is that?

  • @SilverSalros I haven't seen this version so i can't be sure. But american movies are not interesting or fun to watch at all! But the grudge takes place in Tokyo and thats cool and I live in Illinois and the 2nd and third also take place in chicago so pretty cool.

  • @SilverSalros finally someone agrees with me ^_^ the americans talk 2 much in their movies, the japanese actually just get on with it

  • no matter how scary ppl say cats r cuz of this i will never fear them!!! XD

  • I'm confused..... so this is the first movie, then its juon the curse 2, then juon the grudge, and finally juon the grudge 2??? some help anyone....

  • @coveruplies you've got the order right. ;D

  • @sadanimations well that's good, I just watched em without knowing lol ^^

  • The Grudge 3 = BIG MISTAKE.

That film was more like a joke than a actual horror film.

  • call the fucking cops sensei... the kid is obviously being beaten i mean damn

  • The Ju-on movies made cats creepy. Everytime you a meow you get chills.

  • @Horrorlover22

and i have two cats in my house............

  • ju-on is better than the grudge

  • Just paused at 0:01. Can't take it. Too scared.

  • @grmelo

    Lolol. No kidding.

  • Were can I buy this movie ?

  • with some of the subs they add words. i know japanese, and they added some text. lol X3

  • 6:56??? what is

  • I have to say I love horror films of all types, and the Ju-On series has to be my favorite. If I could, I'd love to meet Takako Fuji.....in the light and not in her Kayako make-up, LOL hahaha

  • i would just forget about that kid, its a matter of life and death! and not just the regular kind, its the shit yourself and have a heart attack before you die kind

  • Uh? I dunno.

I was researching and there were some Ju On movies for the japanese TV before Ju On 1.

I think there are good ones, but not so much as the classic Ju On for the theaters.

I have seen so many japanese horror movies, and no other movie from them can barely touch this masterpieces from Shimizu

  • Is this scary? should I really be watching it alone in my house at night?

    :oO

  • gracias for uploading this. my friend

  • kaaaaaaneeeeeeeeechiiiiiiiwaaaaaaaa

  • the original is so much better than the re-make! it makes more sense, and explains more about the story. its less confusing

  • damn! asian girls are hawwwtttt!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao! Japan you crack me up, outside doorbells X3 6:02
