I went to timberlake in 96, I loved it there we had a lot of guys from the east coast jc or jail types. I got it done and went to work. now because of what i learned there I make great money and have a job i love. sounds like you are still unemployed and living off the tit still.
I was there in 2001 as well. Mr Coleman and Moises were my dorm supervisors. If I recall... I think it was Dorm B. Can't believe it will be 10 years ago this June01-Feb02.
i found people like this guy who had problems btw.. tend to have made them sh*t when i was there if you narked on someone we would get a few people together and hold your blanket when u were sleeping and lock in a sock you butt. but if you just went along with people you made friends i still talk to a few people i met there.
@video btw dude you sound like a whiny little kid maybe you should grow up and get outta yo mommas basement...
i was there in 2000? - mid 2002 went to T.I. down in cali after i finished culinary at timber lake. i had tons of fun honestly Bay 2 biatches! hah but anywho yah it was great wouldnt do it again but was great when i was there no real problems unless you made problems.
was'nt really anything to do out there even with the game area and having my own system being 45'd was just stupid. the color card system btw was great you had to earn your way up like in the real world folks i was gold btw >.>
i was there 1986, they still give out the military 1970 style fatigues? doing inspections@ 5:30 am? expecting you to wait a half an hour in the cold before breakfast? they still serve food that makes you feel sick after eating it? crappy pay with huge fines? not co-ed back then. if you didn't pass morning inspection then two hrs of deep cleaning and no tv. if you get in trouble you "dance with the lady" meaning you get to dig out this big tree stump and bury it again. Timberlake was hell!
@malambert313 the food was only bad when you didnt have any culinary students who were there for a while i had the gut busting double cannons for like 3 months when i was up there >.< then i started doing more of the morning cooking and that went away.. its because of all the new students usually they have no clue how to cook eggs and you basically get food poisoning.
I went to Timberlake from May 20th, 2008 - November 6th, 2009. It was the best experience of my life. I was the dorm President in A lower, Shop Foreman in Welding. And I have a ton of friend from there. I am actually still in the process of getting a job there. I would go back in a heart beat!
I hate jobcore so much, I'm attending the 7th best in the nation, and since we went from 9th to 7th they add another rolecall at 7:30 am before school/trade at 7:45, it stupid how many rules there are, we don't get any rides home expect on holidays, the security caught my friend with weed and he got arested yet myroom mentor got arested at walmart for fighting and he's back, they play favorites it's bullshit, the food sucks, it's even hard to screw without getting caught, Fuck Jobcore!
I got there sept 2001 and went to advance culinary in cali in jan 2003. I didn't like my first month but then I had hella fun met a lot of great people and learned a trade. If u didn't like it why did u stay long, jus asking? They made me into a man teachin me how to be more responsible I don't regret anything I loved it. Btw people knew I was gay but they didn't treat me different because I have a wonderful personality never was gay bashed like someone else mentioned
You get out what you put in. It was an escape from the reservation for me. I now have a BA and many good memories of Timberlake. I was a bayleader, VP student government, and lead painter. It was a lot of fun for me, and the weekends in Portland were the best :O)
Jobs corps does not take convicted criminals, only those that are at risk of becoming one. My 18 y.o. nephew could not go because of a felony he had.
(I still paint off and on as a fall back when needed.)
I dont know what it like when you went to job corps but now it is nothing but alternative for jail/reforment school
I run into people in portland all the time that went to timberlake and none of them are continuing their career path they established in job corps because it didnt teach them anything
I hate to tell you all but your all are idiots. I went to timber lake job corps and well I enjoyed my time there. i volunteered to go to that job corps.well let me tell you I am in the military now and i owe it all to the great training they gave me. I was also one of the first too people to go through the automotive class there.
@InuSakuraKage Like you said, everyones experience is different. I am gay, I was also your President and I did not have any trouble what so ever. I didn't let any of it get to me and god help the person that made fun of me.
my parents went to earl c. clemens jobcorps and and it had a high rate for people getting jumped and sent to the hospital the same as yours jail or jobcorps ok but they got a great edu. y u didnt learn is up to you...
Yes, however, even if you don't learn anything, it teaches independence and DOES give you something for your resume which would is much more useful to an employer as opposed to a resume with nothing, or a mere G.E.D.
@russtteee I went to learn too,but you go stir crazy stuck on a mountian all the time for like 10 months. It's 25 miles up mount hood no cell phones service or anything some centers are in a city and if you put a pass thing in swearing you'll come back the'll let you go into the city, After trade. At timberlake You can't go anywhere, but on weekend and you gotta be F**king fast cause they only take 20 students.
I graduated in 1999 and It worked out great for me. I own my own my house and drive a Benz. This guy is just a whinny little punk and has no chance to make it in the real world. Jobcorp is not easy but if you have the right attitude the place has alot to offer.
maybe if you actually listened to what I said you will realize that timberlake job corps is a "jail or job corps" center for most of the ppl there. They did not tell me when I went my time would be pissed away learning how to follow pointless rules instead of learning a trade/career.
I may have said it in the video, don't remember, but I do not have a hate toward job corps, just Timberlake, and how I was not informed that it is just an alternative for jail, and it teaaches you nothing
Well TImberLake JobCorps has changed alot since he's been there. I got in on Jan23 2007 and completed Feb 12 2008. They have a bigger bugget on buying stuff, Every Dorm has new TV's. We have PaintBall and RECtrips. The only bummer was, is that I am a smoker, and a week before I got there, they banned smoking there.
but y would the government spend thousands of dollars on the program to "be back at square one" im sorry that ur time there wasnt all fun n games but u have to remember that thats not y were there. i go to the sacramento job corp and its great
.-. Dude...I feel for you. I went to Tongue Point Job Corps center. Can't say that I shared the same problems though. I gotta say it was some of the best times I had in life though. XD I dominated that place. But I gotta say, the whole ordeal of learning was f-up. Nearly everyone I know isn't doing anything related to what they went for. <_< Or doing even worse then before they went. -_- I did get screwed over here and there for thing. But..If I could. I'd do it all again. Sorry your visit sucked
That sounds like shit. My dad said he went there back in 79. It still sounds like shit hole.
