Our current interpretation of history and chronology was only formed in the 16th Century by a guy named Scaliger. Wasn't he a fanatical Christian, at least somewhat? Why should I trust some Bible thumper to get all the dates right? Esp. when it's OBVIOUS he used the Bible as a vantage point for all other datings. Until the last 50 years or so, quite a few lesser-known folks have questioned Scaliger's chronology, and they may have some merit.
I'm certainly open to the possibility that the current chronology is very diff. from reality. Don't dismiss it out of hand until you've at least READ the book. I'm sure with a book of this magnitude, he's bound to get some things wrong, but he probably got some things RIGHT, as history may well show. True skepticism is NOT about dismissing something that "sounds dumb/unrealistic" out of hand before looking at the evidence. True skeptics remain objective about said evidence.
Well, I'm 90 pages into the book, and I'm not quite sure the WHOLE thing (which is like 7 volumes total) can be discounted. While his dating may be off, his general premise (that the current chronology is off) does seem plausible. After all, as he refers in the book, there's little actual archaeological evidence that the Bible was history, among other things. He also refers to very interesting facts, such as how many cities in the medieval era were referred to by "ancient" names. Huh!

it is my understanding that Christ is a greek(ish) title that has the same meaning as hebrew's Messiah, not part of his name. that is why he is sometimes refered to as THE Christ. so before he began his ministry among the Jews, he would probably be called Jesus bar-joseph, which means (if i remember correctly) Jesus, son of joseph; like a primitive surname. I concluded this after reading in Matthew (i think) where Jesus adressed Simon Peter as Simon bar-jonah (son of Jonah).

it is my understanding that Christ is a greek(ish) title that has the same meaning as hebrew's Messiah, not part of his name. that is why he is sometimes refered to as THE Christ. so before he began his ministry among the Jews, he would probably be called Jesus bar-joseph, which means (if i remember correctly) Jesus, son of joseph; like a primitive surname. I concluded this after reading in Matthew (i think) where Jesus adressed Simon Peter as Simon bar-jonah (son of Jonah).

From a muslim perspective, this book's claim cannot be correct. Because The Holy Quran had been around for over 1400 years and it has many parts about Jesus and his life. This book claims that European history is a mock up but this claim itself doesn't fit into Eastern history. I have seen many churches in Anatolia which are more than 1200 years old. This is just a money sucking hoax rather than a scientific research.

It also does not take into consideration a different prehistoric atmosphere which would inhibit the sun's radiation from hitting the earth, thereby making radiocarbon dating extremely tentative. It relies on too many assumptions to make it scientifically accurate.

@mithec that's complete bullshit, the margin of error varies depending on what element you use for dating, you'd be stupid to use carbon dating for something you know to be fairly recent, you have to use a variety of elements or find other means of backing up the date, you don't just carbon date everything.
