  • Best inspirational documentry i would.. tells u about not only parkour but also life... learnt aLot from this..! peace!

  • I Loved The videos, it thought me something new about Parkour. its not about what others want you to do its about what you want to accomplish.

  • Saw all four, Amazing Documentary.

  • I so much want be like you guys ;( !!!

  • this series is philosophical as shit

  • Excellent! Very interesting series of 4 videos to well understand what Parkour is. Thanks a lot! It gave me want to start practicing... I must find the good way to start now.

  • @BziHBziH Thanks, and good luck with your training!

  • @BziHBziH

From watching these videos, I think you need to believe in your own abilities

If you think you can, you probably can do it.

Fitness helps, but you have to believe in your own abilities.

At least, that's what I gathered from these videos.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

  • great to know that people like you really exist, to hear this words from youth and wisdom people, makes me realize that some of the great things (alcohol, weed, even stupid relationships) that we assume are cool, with conssiousness that is just a waste of time(n life), to me parkour is a way to learn how your mind works and to start loving your body, mind, and to learn that we are extraordinary human beigns like u guys!! congrats!! you really make me think and feel parkour! saludos desde mexico

  • @photosmartoscar Some good points there! I'm glad that you found the video useful, and took something from positive from it :)

  • Funny how Dean, Scott and Paul are so much hencher now!

  • @TheXenomex That's the training!

  • Thanks for the inspiration!

  • This is some CRAZY athleticism, props to you guys!

  • Thank you, for the inspiration.

  • Hey guys what do I do about people who say things like you are not alowed to do that and stuff like that?

  • @xMineCraftAHolicx If we get asked to move on, we move on. Most people are fine about us practicing parkour. We're training every single week, and so people are quite accustomed to seeing us now ;)

  • @Obsidian1138 Okay

  • best documentary EVER

  • I've been training parkour for a year or so, and well, it was fun and all, been training with friends... but where Im from, its not considered serious, as a way of life... people just monkey-see monkey-do from the internet, and well, eventually the group i trained with came down from 10 to myself alone.. and I stopped... but seeing your documentary, that really risen my spirit, and yeah... i just want to thank you guys so much, for putting such great effort into this. Your my heroes fellas :D

  • 4:18 BEST SHIRT EVER!!!!!

  • @mynameismrlamp LOL that what I thought too :D

  • greetings from germany:3

wonderful documentary i havent started parkour yet but this has given me the confidence to move on with my conditioning to beginner parkourist i think thats what its called anyway im almost ready- Erpel

  • @telekinovice its not begginer parkourist its begginer traceur ;) (Not tryin to be rude!)

  • Do you guys know any shoes with a good grip? My shoes I have now I am out-growing and they have pretty much 0 grip. I don't mind wearing guy's shoes if they have a grip at least. (I'm a girl)

  • @KittenPryde23 I recommend running shoes. Personally, I use either Nike Darts or Asics Patriots, but anything which is comfortable, light and flexible should be fine for parkour.

  • @KittenPryde23 Try Kalenji . . They're pretty good, they have good grip, are light and flexible.. ^ ^

  • Awesome documentary, guys!

So, as a matter of linguistic curiosity, where is McQuade from? I haven't often heard that accent.

  • This was so worth the 40 minutes or so i put into watching. Best documentary ever, and y'all turned parkour from a dream, to a slow coming reality for me. I go to the park for conditioning and strength training, sadly nobody in my small town does parkour, so i started my friend on it too.

  • so helpfull thank u

  • You are the best !!! I think is the best way to learn how to control your body and your mind. Thanks for sharing.

  • 4:17 kung fu panda t-shirt lol

  • @francescozetavru ahaaa, no. I THINK that's Banksy's work.

  • The general public needs to see this. Can you submit it to BBC or MTV? Or at least get in contact with the people who can let others see this? The practitioners of parkour maybe enjoy a sort of counter-culture life style, but it is a message that all willing ears should hear.

  • cont...

The emphasis is on moving demands on multiple muscle groups so that strength, power, speed, coordination, balance are all tested - also this is quite close to the actual requirements of parkour.

Ps, Any variations, additional exercises, etc u can recommend?

  • My current conditioning routine - [beginner] 3 stories - 6 flights of stairs.

1 Jump down each flight to the bottom and run back up - 3 times.

2 Crawl up and down all flights - once.

3 Crawl backwards up and down all flights - once.

4 Crawl with feet spread onto the railings, up and down all flights - once.

5 Bear crawl up and down on both railings - twice [once for each side]

    6 Carb crawl {same as 5}

7 Crawl up the railing and jump each flight - once.

    Any suggestions?

    cont...

  • 0:43 PRINCE OF PERSIA!

  • this is one best documentrys ive ever seen. it really makes you want to get out there! bravo!

  • Really great mini-doc. Thanks for sharing!

  • you should go on tours! if u do be sure to come to farnborough, hampshire

  • broke my table trying parkour, still fun,im slightly getting better,i've done a number of things that im proud of,i hope i can be better

  • not much places u can train in wisbeach :(

  • So...I live near Galvasten Texas, not going to say exactly cuz it's the internet and that'd be stupid, but I have no idea who practices around me. Honestly, I've looked around a bit IRL and online, but I've found nobody. It's likely a long shot since you're way across the atlantic, but on the off chance anyone around that area is looking, does anyone know of groups training in/around Galvasten?

  • parkour=punk as fuck

  • hey, sweden here, I have just started a little parkour but im not good, This is freaking inspiring dude! :)

  • Theres no parkour in my area and all I have to use are trees :(

  • For a year and a half I was looking for a good definition of parkour and you made a perfect definition this is what was missing in all even the philosophical definitions didn't come close to this

  • I'm afraid. Thumbs up, who recognized killer panda on boy's T-shirt too!

  • I've tried to find people who train parkour around my area, but I ended up with nought. What should I do? I really want to do parkour but I want people to train with.

  • @HazsTech I trained for 3 years by myself, then found out that a group of practitioners lived only 8miles from me. u cud go out and train whilst ur friends watch maybe, or even try and encourage your mates or people in ur area to try it out maybe.

  • I neeed the shirt from the guy on 6:20. Someone tell me where i can buy it!

  • im quite young but i am just starting to train parkour any tips?

  • @rezori17 yeah... dont give up.....

  • Hi ive been doing parkour for about a year now.. but im wondering where i can find some better shoes for parkour.. suggestions anyone?

  • I love to do parkour but theres not much stuff for me to train on. It sucks that im restrained from my ability. All i have issmall building downtown whenever i go. :(

  • @skatebros8796 Some places have better spots for parkour than others, but just start training at what you have, you'll find more possibilities and locations the more you train. :)

  • i love this video... because when i was 12 i was doing parkour until i did not thing wrong and all most broke my leg so i stop... then i got fat and lazy... now because of this video.. i have start do parkour all over cause i love the way it made me feel and it was 100% fun... so thanks for making this video

  • Writing from Singapore here:) I really respect you guys, you should really upload videos of tutorials:)

  • Writing from Singapore here:) I really respect you guys, you should really upload videos of tutorials:)

  • @yunkaijies Thanks! A few people have asked for tutorials on certain movements, so it's something we'l consider for future videos :)

  • I'm thirteen years old and have started doing Parkour Seriously a few months ago. I usually film myself and evaluate my technique and try to improve everything. The only problem is that I seem very "stiff" while doing vaults or running or anything. Does anyone know a way to be more smooth and relaxed?

  • I want to do Parkour but I'm a but overweight, I try to lose it but then I stop...Any tips please? I really want to do Parkour and it would mean a lot if you could help me...

  • @AnimeJunkey71 I would recommend finding some people who train near where you live, and meeting up with them. You'll lose weight by training, and because parkour is fun, it shouldn't seem like such a chore, as perhaps going to the gym might seem ;) Don't worry about your fitness. Lots of people who start parkour are fairly out of shape. Fitness will come through training regularly, and eating sensibly :)

  • @Obsidian1138 Thank you, I'm happy you could help me out. Not many people message me back when I ask them something. I'll give it a shot!

  • @AnimeJunkey71 try herbalife i got in shape with that

  • watching this documentary made me look up if there was parkour in my area, and i found out that there was, now i am trying to train with them. thank you for making this documentary

  • @CartoonHuman1 That's good to hear. If we can inspire some people to start training, then our efforts making this documentary have been worthwhile :) Good luck!

  • I'm fifteen, and almost each time when I train at home, I watch this video. It motivates me!

  • when i was a kid i always loved climbing, id always find myself at the top of a tree with the branches thinner than my pinky. i think i started to get turned away from physical activity in middle school and junior high, as i was always among the worst at all the competitive sports they had us play. but as of lately ive gained a new interest in it thanks to a class at school re-introducing me to climbing, as we have a rock wall at my school. id really like to try my hand at parkour some time.

  • This was amazing. It helped me really understand parkour and why I never enjoyed watching competetive sports. It also helped me improve my life personally and socially. Thank you so much for making this video.

  • I wonder when you'll post a new video!

  • @danifortravel There's a new one in the pipeline! The edit should be finished in less than a month. It's looking like it will be at least 25 minutes long.

  • I wish they would make strength training exercises for beginners

  • What's the name of that last song?

  • I LOVE PARKOUR

  • hi good vid but i was just wondering how long you have done parkour for as i have just started. thanks

  • very motivational

  • 6 poeple are fat and cant do any amount of parkour what so ever

  • wow wish i were living in london right now. memphis tn, has no tracuers, they know not of the art parkour HELPPPP.

  • @friday365 There are parkour practitioners pretty much all over the world now. I'm sure if you google Memphis Parkour, you'll find someone already training close to where you live.

  • @Obsidian1138 i've done so and i still cnt find any1 near they live in diff. cities within my state.

  • i love parkour me and a few friends train when ever possible but the weather in Newfoundland is a real problem lots of rain and teachers don't like us doing it in the gym :p but great video it opened my mind to so many new possibility's and the true meaning of parkour

  • Brilliant, highly educational series. Loved it, keep it up.

  • I am 15 and I dont have alot of upper body strength but my core and legs ar in good shape!! I live in St.Cloud and there is a lake front but since I am 5' 9" the park is small yeah I can climb on it but when I do the game warden (cops) yell at me lol!!! If anyone can hlep me in person I need help with training locations and I dont know anybody that does it so thanks and plz read this!!!!

  • You guys are awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • What is the last song (: ?

  • This documentary should be on discovery channel !

  • i need to lose weight, seriously im going to watch this video as inspiration from now on...

  • This may be a superficial question, but I just want to quantify the strength that you develop through Parkour.

Could you go into a gym and move heavy weights (225lb bench press for example)?

  • @khanriza its not about the weights and things is about your physical strength.

  • @khanriza well, I say don't use the gym that much for parkour training. why? when you work out at the gym, you isolate the muscles. parkour uses LOTS of muscles, and even the small ones we might not be aware of. Instead, do some bodyweight exercises. the only way to know if you're fit enough it to try it though.

and BTW there's nothing preventing you from being stronger than you need to. just don't go too big 'cause you'll get too heavy

  • dont wear shoes only pussys wear shoes wen doing parkour

  • what cind of shoes can i ware because i dont now

  • @gmhjhjmfhj Any light, comfortable running shoes or trainers should be fine.

  • thank you for your time and effort in making this documentary. it was amazing. i didnt even realize that one of the biggest things i love about parkour is how it is how everything that happens is my responsibility, so thanks for pointing that out.

  • O.o josh jarman! is now in.. manchester? :S

  • ive been working on getting in shape for a month or so and been kind of lazy about it because im not really sure why i wanted to get in shape it just felt like something i should be doing and some of the things that you said in this documentory really made sense to me and i think gave me a bit different of a view on my life because i havent really ever done anything for ME and the more i think about it the more i want to get in shape and try not just parkour but to be the best i can in my life

  • hi. i really want to start in parkour but i really dnt know where to start and what to do...you think i can get some tips in conditioning and the different moves you do like vaulting, and what not...any tips on where i should start?

  • As far as my hate goes to Dave and some of the training styles northern parkour take up, I've got to say this is easily one of the best films I've ever seen. Thanks are deserved ! well done guys especially Paul must have taken years to film and edit ! Maybe I should try training with you lot sometime - missed me in manchester yesterday :D <3

  • @FlowMotionKezo Maybe you should reconsider throwing your hate around quite so freely. ;-)

  • great work, thanks for sharing

    :)

  • Parkour is absolutely amazing. I want to learn so bad, but unfortunately I'm not in the physical shape to do so. I'm trying to hit the gym to lose weight, but also being on such a tight budget really doesn't leave room for the most healthy food choices, mostly just leaving what's cheap and not so good for me just to be able to afford food to eat for the month. If you see this comment, is there anything you could suggest for me to get into shape for parkour, given what I've already stated?

  • @blazer666999 It's cheaper to buy fresh fruit than junk food, so I'd recommend going this. Also, start with cardio exercises, such as running.

  • @blazer666999 use mostly bodyweight exercises and running. you can do it for free, so it saves money for the rest. Also, you CAN start without being so fit. just keep training. that way you can learn before starting to get serious

  • thats some jedi talent thaere

  • the world is your playground in parkour :>

  • I HATE 1:03 I'm So mad at stupid publicans, they dont know what parkour is and stupid police should learn it and let people do it instead of pulling them off it makes me mad that people dont know what parkour is and dont want to learn it there all like, "hey get down from there! or "get off that wall", stop jumping around! "grow up how old are you"? SPREAD THE NEWS PEOPLE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RANDOM PEOPLE ON THE STREETS!!!!

  • Amazing. Many Thanks!

  • excellent!

i really loved all four parts to this documentary. i love the philosophy, and really enjoyed listening to someone with the same outlook on life. good word play and tone.

i hope you and your friends get noticed in a big way, and touch/change many ppl's lives.

thanks a lot to all of you who participated in this

    -``~on behalf of

    washington DC, usa

  • you guys live in manchester thats cool used to do parkour in school but can't find anywhere without getting cleared off =(

  • whats that place around 7:48ish? ive seen alot of people train there where is it??

  • @benbk97 7:48 is Dave talking to camera ;) The shot before it is the Dame Du Lac, in Lisses, France. The shot after Dave is in Evry, France (very close to Lisses).

  • I throughly enjoyed the hell outta this.

    No boundaries

    Know freedom

    Keep running guys.

  • many people think"the more i train the better"but the body needs time to recover, right? how often do you train specific muscles? how many rest days do you give them? thanks.

  • @polmod i'm not saying i am correct but with the people who i train with we all have our own ways and times that we recover in. For me it can be a good night sleep and then just a day doing normal day to day stuff, but some of my friends they can take 4 - 5 days to recover, i'm guessing it depends on how much conditioning you have given your body and your diet.

Yes training as much as you can will no doubt improve your level if you push yourself but dont forget to rest.

    Hope that Helps

  • @sk8ordieinheaven thanks man... helped a lot! :) take care!

  • @polmod depends. when you do REALLY intense training, you might wanna give your muscles 3-4 days recovery. but when doing some regular training, or slightly intense, you need 1 or 2 days off and you're free to go again

  • just watched all four parts and your insights will stay with me for a long time. i want to work on my precisions and balance bcuz i suck at it so i was wondering if you had any tips for strenghthening that. also how do u find good places to train?

  • Really really brilliant documentary. Incredibly inspiring, and really intelligent interesting philosophy of parkour :)

Are there any home workouts that you can suggest for a parkour beginner? I've found a few guides but if you would suggest some I would happily take your word as gospel :)

  • @tedmcarthy: I just started Parkour myself a few weeks ago and the things I do to condition myself are body weight excercices like push ups, crunches, plank, pull ups (outside, wherever youb find a bar ;) ), squats, squat jumps etc. For more infos look at their channel, they have a few conditioning vids with lots of excercises you could do at home too :-)

  • all 4 parts were amazing, tell me did you go to gym or something to practice or just on streets?

  • @lukacho5 We trained on the streets. We do occasionally go to a gymnastics gym, but it's not very useful for actual parkour movements. The majority of training should be done outside.

  • That is a very impressive documentary, i've only seen the part 4 here, but i will definitely see the rest of it today (:

One thing i would love to know is on why you've made this documentary, is it educational-related or professionally - or was it just for the fun of it?

    Very impressed!

  • @ParkourInspiration As I said at the beginning of the doc, the purpose was to explain Parkour and to correct the problems caused by other attempts at Parkour documentaries. We just thought the community needed it, as there was no documentary that really explained Parkour accurately before. No purpose, other than to help people improve their understanding of Parkour. But don't take our word for it ;)

  • Very well done! Don't give up that athleticism. You only get old if you choose to! I need that Panda shirt! I'll look for one if I'm ever near Connecticut :-D

  • @Csrebeccaburch That's no reason not to train. Search Youtube for 'Worldwide Traceuse Project'

  • I am so inspired right now. I've been trying to do parkour for the last couple weeks, but this documentary has realy helped me out in what I have to do and what to expect of myself. Thanks so much for this video

  • Great documentary!!! totally worth watching when you are just starting parkour out... i practiced a few years ago but starting up again with a friend (only one cuz americans dont know it much, or are afraid) but still.. this will help get my mind set right.

    thank you

  • I just watched all 4 parts so get ready for a comment wall...

That was great! I know I changed my definition of parkour a little.

I noticed you mentioned Manchester, is that in CT and do you live in/around there?

You are all very skilled, keep up the good work.

  • @GHwraith Thanks! It's Manchester, England, not Manchester, Connecticut :)

  • I`ve just watched all of the Nature of Challenge and it really is such a different way of looking at Parkour and its benefits I really enjoyed listening and learning from this. Its an attitude that too many people live without.

  • Truly inspirational. Brilliant.

  • i have been wanting to do parkour for awhile now.... but never had a strong motivation to start.

this gave me that inspiration that i NEEDED so badly.

    thank you

  • what is the name of the last song?^_^ thanks alot for this videos ......maked me see what parkour really means

  • This is the best parkour documentary that i have ever seen. Seriously. And i have watched them all.

Keep up the good work and i hope for more videos in the future!

    Josh

  • where's that accent from, north england?

  • Yes. If you mean Dave's voice-over, he's from Sheffield, and has also spent a few years living in Manchester. The majority of the footage in this documentary was filmed in Manchester.

  • Thank you so much for these four videos, you have taught me tha true meaning of parkour, live and feel free to your self an of others, in a world full of people trying to be an individual yet not knowingly being controlled by others,I have taken to heart many of the views your videos have expressed,I want a change in my life, there is always a beginning to change,I have to start somewhere and better myself, all in all great videos and thank you so much for your fantastic insights on life!:]

  • thanks for this dave i learnt alot.and now i think of parkourifferently then just vaulting over walls lol

  • I just made my way up a 12 foot wall earlier today. I tell you, the sense of accomplishment is something else.

  • not once did any one roll...?

  • WOW, im gunna miss ur voice :'(

  • lol im interested in joining a parkour group, i've been looking, but coincidentally there are none near the Spring area of Texas......Lovely... heh this was such an amazing documentary and you have motivated me once again and reminded me why i started parkour, thanks so much guys. 5/5, =)

  • subscribed, inspired and thankful that people like you help people like me :D keep going and never stop :D

  • Wow, i've just finished watching all of your Parkour - The Nature Of Challenge videos, i've become completely inspired, before these i was thinking of deleting the video on my account, but now i realise i can look back and reflect on that in the future and use it as an asset for later on. Also, are you based in manchester?

Got to end this comment now and o some parkour, 5/5 subscribed, and completely inspired.

  • Overall a very good documentary. But how can you make a 40 min video discussing what Parkour is and not mention David Belle?! I'm super confused about that one, It makes the video seem overtly incomplete. But maybe there was a reason for it? If someone could provide an explanation that would be good. Thanks.

  • I guess a good explanation for that would be, that this is about Parkour in your life, and not somebody else.. as the mentioned, its for you as an individual, for you to improove yourself, whithout influence from other, only your own body.. with this said, i think youve got the idea of why David Belle wasent mentioned :)

  • Haha well I definitely see your perspective :)

Nevertheless, I think not mentioning David Belle in this documentary is kind of like making a documentary about applying Jeet Kune Do to your life and not mentioning Bruce Lee. It would either be blatantly incomplete or it would be taking the discipline out of the context it deserves.

Just my opinion. Very good documentary overall :)

  • "I'm going to try to explain Parkour to you and I'm probably not ging to do it the same way most people would.....I might not even use the same words most people would." -----Part 1

Thats why. We get lost in the history and forget about where we are and what it means to US and our philosophy.

  • Gotcha. Makes sense, but in that case I do have a question for you:

Does this mean that Parkour becomes whatever we want it to be, or is there a definite purpose and reason for it? Without citing David Belle what gives this documentary's explanation of Parkour and its purpose any validity or foundation beyond the emotional evaluation of individuals' experience of movement?

No right or wrong answer - I'm just curious your thoughts :)

  • @rappk

Firstly, thanks for your comments. All feedback is much appreciated :)

The reason I left out mention of David when writing this is simply because I wanted to explain parkour in a new way. I wanted to give people a chance to start afresh with their understanding, and to do that I had to avoid using any of the common phrases or reference points that the community regularly uses.

I think it accurately reflects David's expressed views on parkour, but who knows for sure how David thinks?

  • i understand what you mean, but parkour is not about names, or people, it's about you and that next boundary you're going to cross, david belle created parkour, but not the ideas in your head that make you want to jump that extra wall, or climb the wall instead of taking the stairs

  • yes, tis a good n'

  • One of my favorite parts of this documentary ... not one back flip ... so many people I talk to confuse Parkour with a kind of urban gymnastics. Yes flips are cool .. but they're not mandatory. It's all about freedom.

    Keep running my friends.

  • I agree, any one can do flips, but I takes hard work and training to reach your goals in parkour.

  • too right mate :)

  • Very, very good documentary. Everything about it was brilliant, the narration, the way it was shot, the montages, everything. On behalf of everyone who has seen it, thank you. :)

  • Thank you so much guys for taking the time to share this with many people of the world!

  • Nice one

  • Wonderful vid, I hope to see you soon in NYC!

  • I'll be at the Brooklyn Bridge jam at 11am on Friday. Hope to see you there!

  • I love this documentary. You explained just about every thing to parkour that people need to know. I've been doing parkour for about a year, I'm trying to get people into the philosophy of it instead of showing off and flips and every thing.

  • if you look at me i really dont look like a parkour guy

about a week ago i started trying to loose weight to do parkour

i feel that would be an amazing thing to be able to do any parkour, and I have realized how great a disciplinary sport is

  • thank you for this doucmentary very inspiring
