I would disagree my friend Orthodox has come too far away from the scriptures and into tradition. It has adapted too many of the Catholic traditions. Messianics however have similar problems, adapting too much of Judaism and traditions into their services. If a tradition is in conflict with scripture it needs to be removed. The outrage of it all. Messianic Jews are posers. They're really Evangelical Christians posing as Jews. They integrate Judaism and Jewish customs into their Christian prayer services, and rituals. But they are Christians on a baptising mission. This can easily confound any Jew who isn't highly knowledgable in Judaism and the ways of evangelists. It is plain dishonesty and trickery on the part of the Messianics to be 'pretend' Jews. They suck in many innocent 'victims' this way!

Dont confuse Messianic Judaism with Jews for Jesus. Messianics are Jewish people who still maintain their culture, but also accept Yeshua. Their views do differ from mainstream Christianity, so don't group them. Jews for Jesus are the Christians who try to win jews by becoming like the jews. I'm pretty sure trickery is not the purpose of Messianic Judaism.

According to Judaism, you can't be a Jew who also accepts J (or 'Y').That's known as a form of 'worshiping other g-ds' or idolatry, and is forbidden in the 10 commandments and Judaism. Conceptually it's like a Christian also accepting 'Mohammed' & bowing 7 times after Church to Allah.Actually Messianics are more deceptive than the 'Jews for J' by couching 'Y' in Judaism and Jewish practices. Only someone ignorant of true Jewish beliefs or a 'J' (or 'Y') adherent would go along with that.

Fair enough. I guess some people just want to keep a middle ground. But Jewish practices aren't only for jews. I believe in Yeshua, but I still follow many Jewish customs. I dont claim to be Jewish though. My goal isnt to decieve people, its just that I believe that the Jewish customs are very good because of the emphasis on G-d in their lives. So I suppose you are right that they shouldnt go around flaunting their supposed Jewishness, but I still dont think their purpose is to decieve.

'Messianic Judaism' implies a modified version of Judaism. Improper practice of certain Jewish customs by a non-jew may be sinful similiar to Islamic law.Judaism is based on specific religious observance within defined parameters. Messianics have gotten Jews to practice Christianity (not just its 'customs') while still treating them as Jews and the practitioners believe they are still Jews (i.e. deception). As per Judaism, they aren't practicing Jews but have left the religion & are sinful.

Some believers follow the Torah and not the pagen pactices such as Christmas and Easter. Actually follow the true holidays given by Hashem, and the law- except for animal sacrifices ( because Yeshua was the ultimate sacrifice) But, believers should live by theTorah and accept when we screw up we are under the grace and when asked -are forgiven. Yeshua stated he did not come to do away with the Torah Matt 5:17 only to fulfil it. from the prophets Isaiah 53 He was the Messiah.

The use of literal + imaginative interpretation of the Old testament (i.e. the Old, Testament with it's related Prophets & Scriptures). e.g. it says 'maiden', you say it must be refering to the Virgin Mary. Also, the new versions of the Old Testament (e.g. KJV)

To clear things up; when you are "Christian" it literally means: "Christ like" or "Followers of Christ". "Jewish/Hebrew" is a nationality, with Jewish being a connotation to describe the faith of one set of people. So, a person can most definitely be "Jewish" in the sense s/he is of the Hebrew nation, but also be "Christian" by their faith in Christ. :)

It's simple really. I'm Christian; not a Hebrew, but I have Jewish friends who believe in Christ. And trust me; they are enot oxymorons. ^_^

There are sinners in every religion, ALL fall short. However, Messianic doctrine is what Christ intended for the world. Christ did not come to abolish the law, he came to fulfill it (prophesies of the Torah aka Old Testament). tngoatee=Read Daniel 9:24-27, it speaks about the appointed time of the Messiah. He hade to come, be crucified and resurrect on the third day before the destruction of the Second Temple. In 70 A.D. many years after Yeshua was crucified, resurrected and ascended, the Roman Army under General Titus smashed Jerusalem and destroyed the Second Temple in fulfillment of that prophecy. Messianic stuff has NEVER convinced a frum from birth Jew. That means a Jew who was raised religious, kept shabbat, kept kosher, learned Torah, (went to Yeshivah) and learned Tanach from the original Hebrew. Why? There are 3 Servants in Isaiah, not only Israel:

(1) David- Isaiah 37:35;

(2) Israel- Isa.41:8; 42:19; 43:10; 44:1; 45:4; 48:20; 49:3 and the whole chapter;

(3) Messiah- Isa.42:1; 65:8

Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12 is a different Servant than the one previously mentioned in chapters 51:9 - 52:12. It is the Messiah!!!

Actually I realised something, from where you are standing, i.e. the jewish race what was said makes sense. but from a muslim perspective I see a record stuck at one track. As a muslim I know that there are no more prophets and as a muslim we respect all past prophets and believe that they were above normal urges, i.e. they actioned for the sake of god only. but the biblical tradition is to always demean them and put sin on them.
