  • Good old Bingley Hall, Birmingham.Me and my bro went to the previous nights gig on a friday.I remember my bro losing one of his bowling shoes in the mosh pit and i had to prevent him from dissapearing to the floor looking for it.I told him to wait till the end to l look for it,we did and there were about twenty other lads doing the same thing.

  • I was there... :-) my first ever gig....went with my older cousins, and saw them at Deeside Ice rink as well.....1982 I think...fantastic memories that will live with me for ever.

  • john is a part of our youth god bless him

  • the song playing is called staring at the rude boys by the ruts, it was nearly always the last song played before the jam took the stage :)

  • RIP BIG JW!! A GREAT FUCKING BLOKE!

  • His Dad let me into The George Hotel in Edinburgh and got all my albums signed, and a couple of pics. The man was a gent and always had time for the people who put his son where he is today......., But some great tunes also helped. RIP JW.

  • John Weller was such a cool dad!

    Btw,how did he pass away.

Also, who is singing this song-never heard it before.

  • John passed away after a long illness.

The song is The Ruts - Staring at the rude boys

  • Thanks for that info,mate- had no idea.

Will definitely have to check out The Ruts again.

  • rip john weller, thanks 4 putting paul on this planet and allowing us to share in his music,he is a credit to you and this country

  • So sad about John, but the sound of The Jam will live forever. Kids today have discovered the music and love it. Bingley Hall. Me, my brother & brother in law were there, spent some time in The Acropolis Cafe-great coffee. Great times, great friends & great sounds!!!!

  • just back from holidays and found out john

    what a sad loss

"let's make it a good un"

  • R.I.P John Weller

  • A great, honest decent working class man, who proved you only need belief and commitment to make it. Rest In Peace John.

  • I see a parallel between John Weller and Brian Epstein-two men who believed and were committed to something no one else did at the time and refused to pack it in.Thank goodness they persisted in the face of all odds.

    Absolutely amazing and inspiring!

  • R I P Mr John Weller, above the clouds. Paul weller is a great musican and has been my hero since the Jam. Keep the faith. xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Its incredible how many people he touched and the effect he had on people

RIP and thoughts and prayers to the Weller family

  • Its so sad to hear about Johns death, Paul must be devastated. A great man, manager and father. He will be missed but his determination and inspiration im sure will live on through Paul.

  • Weller wasn't really communicating too well with Bruce and Rick during this tour.

  • who blows the rumpet at paul 2:02

  • Remember this on TV before the split. Went into school next day 10 feet tall.

Got the whole gig on DVD ;-)

  • I had this on VHS, this was the intro piece.

I never understood why they left the Butterfly Collector of it and put it on the Snap video.

That one small squeak of feedback in it maybe?

  • thanks 4 posting

  • top class

  • trans global express live video i recall, went as a 15 year old about erm "83" maybe to buy this, was £20,lots for a 15 year old then, the girl at the till said"are you sure son?,£20? i said yeeeeees give me my jam video :),lost it know ofcourse so great to see the start again :)

  • Yeah...prices....I remember buying the original 'Snap' video for 15 quid in late 82 I think it was......I only got 40 a week wages......and Quadrophenia from my dads mate with the video shop was 45 quid.......mindboggling now,but a must have at the time.Quad is still the best film I've ever seen for impact.....and I've still got both and they're still playable.Quality tapes then.....and they should be at those prices, the robbing b..tards....

  • god was it really that long ago?!

  • Great Clip and nice song by the Ruts

  • Ahh.. those gigs were great. Thanks for reminding us.
