The tyranids probably have a hive ship for every guardsman, if not more. Even with an alliance, the tau, eldar, and umies would fall. Only chaos, the necrons, or the orks have a hope in hell.
The Orks would just serve as a food for the Tyranids. The Tyranids don't have to be beaten by sheer numbers though. The Tau, Eldar and Humanity's best chance is to develop a poison or some sort of weapon that can hurt the Tyranids. So they won't necessarily fall unless they try to stand up to the Tyranids on the physical battlefield.

Vaccines are developed each year to fight the flue because it mutated into a new pathogen and the "original Flue" pathogen's DNA still exists hidden in all the mutations but had we a pure sample there would be a cure

The Nids migrated here from another galaxy, it's a safe bet they consumed and absorbed many races and mutated many times long before they ever came this way.
The things are just so numerous and diverse I don't think that could work on any kind of large scale.

I got the codex and people who do not join Tau "greater good" are against the Tau and must be purged. I had fire warrior to but in that game i just remeber playing the whole way through to wipe out the chaos dude and try to form an alliance with the space marines by doing so. The space marines and the imperial guard launched an attack on the Tau when they were still young. That was the first attack on the Tau, then afterwards they just kept fighting each other on the borders of their territory.

@honorbound88 well reasoning behind humanity still worshiping the emperor is because the adeptus administratum have covered up his death, making belive that he is still alive to the populous of the imperium. you are right in what you say about if the tau eldar and imperium form an alliance they will stand chance to stop their enimys... but only stop for a time, not fully annihalate them, the frces of chaos are delved deep within the warp, not a simple place to get to and irradicate.
@lyokoBSTN and also the tyranid hive fleets that pop up, are simply splinter fleets them selves, as they split off of a larger mass taht is passing by our galaxy, so if the tyranids truely wished and desired to irradicate everything within this galaxy then all they need do is commit more that they normaly do

@jettom17 The Tyranids are thought to be just a vanguard for a much larger force coming from a far distant universe. Also, if the Imperium killed all the worshipers of Chaos then the Gods would be weaker, but not destroyed. Daemons can't be killed, they just return to the warp and to their respective god. Chaos could be stopped though, if we closed the Eye of Terror

@cunroth The Tau need time to mature, yes, but the Eldar don't plan only days ahead. I would think that they were thinking thousands of years into the future, when the Tau were more evolved, when they said that the Tau were the best hope for the galaxy.
Eldar are nearly extinct any hows, they created the eye of terror which was pretty stupid and they go around trying to correct there mistake even if it means killing a couple billion aliens.
I think if the Russians got a few Space Marines, like 10 or so, they could invade us and whoop our asses. We have nothing short of nukes to sto them........

Nice idea but I doubt it would work.
The nids constantley mutate, they consume other races and absorb their characteristics.
A poison or viral weapon could work in isolation but you wouldn't get a repeat preformance.

the humans consider all alien as a treat..and correct..eldar are humanoids..so they exsisted milina long before the humans were born..and they were master of their own kind..Eldar back then were very strong,united and they look like elf..and beside's..Tau is the race that brings greater good..

I got the codex and people who do not join Tau "greater good" are against the Tau and must be purged. I had fire warrior to but in that game i just remeber playing the whole way through to wipe out the chaos dude and try to form an alliance with the space marines by doing so. I'm not a war hammer buff but I read a lot of the books and codex's (I collect Tau and tyranids)

oooo..well..my friend told me Dark angels fought the Tau on a certain planet..tha'ts the first time SM ecountered them...Dark angels were the 1st...but i'am not sure who attacked first..anyway..can you tell me how did Tau form an alliance with the humans in fire warrior game?..is it by force?..or peaceful negoition?

I just remember running around a space hulk then going in this room and watching this SM commander and tau dude commander talking with this imperial commander then this imperial guy walks in with some chaos marines shoots everyone. (sorry i cant be more detailed havnt played the game in like 6 years). p.s. did u even ally with the imperial gaurd? i remember fighting them the whole way through the game or maybe my memory is to crap lol xD

The space marines and the imperial guard launched an attack on the Tau when they were still young. That was the first attack on the Tau, then afterwards they just kept fighting each other on the borders of their territory.

Humanity does it all the time in the lore. They kill all alien races because they are 'impure and evil'. Humans aren't any more the good guys, in Warhammer 40k, than the Eldar or the Tau.

lol..Tau has no god..only their wisdom of greater good...but i guess humandity is the one at fault..perharps later on in warhammer 40k DOW after chaos rising..they manage to bring back Tau and eldar..against Necrons or dark eldar,Chaos and tyranids ..its like SM,eldar,Tau are all mistaken for wars..its like good guys killing each other..lol Eldar thinks they can create a powerful god than their exsistng one against slassnesh..nooo..Emperor shouldn't consider all aliens bad..

Agreed. If the Tau, Eldar and Humanity all allied together then they might be able to stop enemies like Chaos and the Tyranids. Too bad humanity is too focused on worshiping their dead emperor rather than moving on and accepting that he is pretty much gone.

its not might..its WILL..:D..Tau provides the techno upgrades..Eldar has their magic supporting..you seen eldar helped Imperial guard before and they were always good at it..but Space marines always rely on the emperor for might and strength, but i wonder what happens if the emperor talk to the Tau leader..they straight away be allies..Tau doesn't betray others..he offered any aid they can get..greater good also means' End the wars'..all 3 combine forces +IG..their emenies would died out

But the Emperor is dead and the Imperium is run by a bunch of idiots. I mean the Imperium and the Space Marines even fight sometimes because they can't get their own shit straight. I would like to see them all ally, but Humanity is not even close to being a good guy. They kill their own people as well as everyone else. :'(

@honorbound88 well reasoning behind humanity still worshiping the emperor is because the adeptus administratum have covered up his death, making belive that he is still alive to the populous of the imperium. you are right in what you say about if the tau eldar and imperium form an alliance they will stand chance to stop their enimys... but only stop for a time, not fully annihalate them, the frces of chaos are delved deep within the warp, not a simple place to get to and irradicate.

@honorbound88 you know, there have been instances when this happened, but not with the Tau. Tallarn had a hole in the Warp where demons were pouring out, and the human resistance was joined by the Eldar.

@honorbound88 Pff, Chaos can't be stopped. Even if they eradicate all the daemons and all the current troops of Chaos it wouldn't be stopped.
Also, Humanity can easily defeat the Tyranids if they deployed their true strength^^

@jettom17 The Tyranids are thought to be just a vanguard for a much larger force coming from a far distant universe. Also, if the Imperium killed all the worshipers of Chaos then the Gods would be weaker, but not destroyed. Daemons can't be killed, they just return to the warp and to their respective god. Chaos could be stopped though, if we closed the Eye of Terror

@cunroth The Tau need time to mature, yes, but the Eldar don't plan only days ahead. I would think that they were thinking thousands of years into the future, when the Tau were more evolved, when they said that the Tau were the best hope for the galaxy.

10 space marines would go down pretty quickly with our technology. our 2009 world could be considered advanced to the M41 universe considering the warp storm and loss of STC's or whatever.

@battenfelder well... if this was perfectly accurate to 40k background, then none of those space marines would have died. space marines are pretty much invincible in the background, the idea of losing an entire squad in a battle like that is on a similar scale to losing an entire army of regular troops. my point being, pretty sure a "true to fluff" space marine could tear a lictor to shreds with a chainsword :D
