When you're younger you learn a language much faster and better than people who are older, hence it minimizes the accent. Source? ME: I've lived in the US sinve 13 years old and I have minimal accent when I speak English.

I mean, it's not only with English. I can speak almost any language with a very good accent. That's why I'm a linguist/translator.

Because the american accent is the easiest and most common one around here in Germany, because after WW II we were mostly influenced by new american habits rather than the more familiar ones from our european neighbours. So you'll find 3 of 5 people with quite some abilities in speaking english and about 2 out of these 3 have some kind of an american actress.

I experienced that by watching them O-tone I automatically lost at least part of my accent and adopted the one that was spoken. Audio books work the same, I guess. I study translation and many of the people in my class have stayed in GB/ the US for some time. If you hear them talk, you'd think they were natives... (cont.)

And, compared to when she first started out, she has really improved ;) Although, I have to admit that not everybody is able to do that.
