  • I think that Amtrak should have bought the x2000, it's fits to the terrible American train system and style.

  • @UraeusAnkhAmon they should of, but in China they bought some.

  • @PuertoRican88 No China bought the Velaro.

  • we should have kept them. the Acela has nothing on the x2000.

  • Why do Americans have such a liking for micro windows? Are they afraid the passenger might look outside?

  • AWW they showed my turboliners

  • It won't have to be with wires above the train for speed.

  • Didn't know there was any X2000 outside Sweden :P

  • they r there in china as well

  • @0Tanaka0 - Back about 1995, a 3-car X2000 demonstrator, including a driving trailer, was trialled on the Sydney-Canberra corridor here in Oz. It also toured the eastern seaboard, visiting Melbourne and Brisbane. Power was provided by XPT power cars at each end.

  • Oh that was rich, being shoved by the Rohr Turbo!

    "Can I go now?"

  • The horn is really unique! Is that air or electronic? I really want an HO Scale model of the X2000 but nobody makes one.

  • Air.

  • @Beechcraft01

It's air, 2 Kockum Tyfon that blows at 460 and 660 Hz.

  • Incredible consist !

  • Wow... i live here for 7 years... i didn't know they had a old electric train there in '93

  • They tested the Swedish X2000, the German ICE, and the French TGV. The didnt go with the X2000 and ICE because they wanted too much money. They didnt go with the TGV either cause the train is not articulated like the TGV.

  • i live in Rochester, NY

  • How did the X2000 move on non-electrified track? Was it both diesel and electric?

  • The last two turbos on the rear of the train were diesel and provided the power.

  • Is Amtrak still using the Rohrs, or have they phased them out?

  • The turbos, sadly, are all scrapped.

  • Aw man...that is sad... :'(

  • An old local company use2 help make the X2000.

It's on the PENTREX Amtrak X2000 video.

  • Thats a nice trainset. It would have been nice if I existed out here to see it.

  • when did we have a channel 2 news?

  • They are based out of Buffalo. They had a crew in Rochester specifically for this event.

  • Excellent video! I was surprised to see 2 Turboliner locomotives pulling the X2000 train set though.

  • Because the train set was electrical, and there are no overhead wires in Rochester, that engine was not pulling the train. It wa really the two turboliners pushing the train.

  • Great raw videos, and great timing for the shot closer! No need to redo that!

  • that german horn!

  • Between you and me I still prefer the K5LA.

  • @furryfurball1221

No german horn, instead it's a 2 tone swedish Kockum Tyfon.

  • @furryfurball1221 ROCKS TOTALLY. if only they used full blast nhl goal horns on those trains.
