  • I love Margaret Atwood, she's sooo amazing. I in no way can come close to her talent, but one of her poems, "A Sad Child",is one of my favorites. I added a tune to the beautiful lines of the poem, and you all should check it out, especially if you like Margaret Atwood :)

    She's so sweet.

For you who love poetry and music.

  • I AM MARGARET ATWOODS LOVE CHILD!!!!! PLEASE CHECK OUT MY VIDEO "CONCRETE MEALS" POETRY JUST LIKE MY MOTHER.

  • Fun Woman....interesting interview...

  • She opens us up to the idea of thinking about "stuff"....that's what books, short stories, articles, blogs do. Forming an opinion - that is up to the reader (given the time taken to really think about it-impusivity-we are all weak...who doesn't take the time to read all the way through). We are allowed/given the opportunity here in this medium. Now, choosing our words. That is another story.

  • We had to read her books in high school. I found them painfully boring and suffocatingly dry. She is okay to listen to and watch in this video, but you can keep her books, thank you.

  • @cheeriosinabowl It's better than analyzing and dissecting Shakespeare

  • @djazr

... yes, that's true. We were forced to read useless Shakespeare in school, it was torture and a waste of time.

  • @cheeriosinabowl riiighht... let's take Oryx and Crake for example: realistically rendered apocalyptic earth, practically prophetic in insight, lots of violence sex and drama, fascinating deeply flawed characters we can see in ourselves, witty insight throughout. BORING!! defeated sigh. TV generation I suppose.

  • @mostlycaveman

.... no, you are wrong -- esp. with your last sentence.

  • @cheeriosinabowl That very well could be... i was just working under the assumption that if i am going to share my thoughts on youtube i may as well be inflammatory and judgmental like most others. I apologize for my insinuation that you may not be a true lover of literature. You have every right in the world to dislike Atwood and her novels. I have, in fact, heard that some are quite boring. The ones I have read were not (in my opinion). Peace brotha (or sista).

  • @mostlycaveman

... not a problem. Peace to you too! :))

  • My class is meeting with her today! YAY! :D

  • She's great. I found her book "Cat's eye" randomly in a library, and I think it's amazing.

I wish there was more people like her on this planet.

  • She is a amazing author. I've read The Penelopiad, The Handmaid's Tale, The year of the flood, Alias Grace and am now on Oryx & Crake. All very imaginative. I could just picture what it would look like. I hope to meet her someday. When I read her book I can't put it down.

  • Atlas Shrugged movie trailer on youtube.

  • I completely agree with barriehomeboy. I've seen her read in Ottawa, but never got the opportunity to meet her. I like her quirky self too. Of course, I'm the exactly the same as a writer.

  • @tgibson99 if you are "the exactly the same" you must not be a very good writer.

  • @tgibson99 seriously you need to read The Handmaid's Tale if you haven't already. AMAZING. Oryx & Crake is as well.

  • She reminds me very much of me. I was basically the same way before I discovered I liked to write.

  • DEAR GOD! She SPEAKS!?

  • I'm just reading Oryx and Crake right now after a friend lent me the book. This is also my first time being exposed to a Margaret Atwood novel and I'm very impressed; she has quit a vivid imagination. I like the titles she gives to places and things such as Pigoons, wolvogs, snates, Pleebands, OrganInc, NooYoo, etc...

  • She's a literary genious, and a bit odd. She always goes to this coffee shop in the Annex (Toronto) and sits at the same table in the corner covering her face with a paper, so no one will recognize her.

  • She should be the Queen of Canada. The other one doesn't show up anyway. This one is more erudite. And whacky. We love our whacky Canadian women. She's brilliant when she writes. We can all aspire to be that good.

  • Angliches (Canada) = très polis & très bizarres.

  • What are you even talking about.

  • yeah honestly, what are you talking about?

  • simply amazing person

  • I pity you, you ignorant close-minded creature.

  • i agree with wanda, you just dont appreciate literature.

  • I met her last week at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Amazing.

  • I would love to meet her. :)

  • I always wondered what her voice sounded like, it's a bit like Meryl Streep's

  • Sucking Black "wang" is actually quite pleasant.

  • what tha fuck is wang

  • I love Margaret Atwood. She is both an intellectual and a feminist, and her books are marvellous. Oh, btw, she doesnt want to make guys feel guilty about having dicks, she wants to show the power of women :P

  • yeah you sound much smarter.

  • The Irish go to war for potatoes and I'm not 800 years old so it hasn't taught me much at all. Ps. Yes I'm English and by all means have a war with us now.... we'd kick your arses.

  • Is it before eight in the morning? Shouldn't you be drunk already brendo97? And my apologies to irish postmen, i'm sure they can read the numbers on the letters.

  • i wrote the comment at 11 o'clock pm. Im in Ireland Remember! Drunk? me? i dont think so. Are yo English? If so - the last eight hundred years hasn't thought you much has it? I might be wrong, but last time i checked we won the war of Independence. Correct me if i'm wrong

  • I resent that comment. Irish people can read and write. I am only seventeen years old, but my first novel is due to be published early next year - and i have lived in Dublin(the capital) my whole life. You should re-think your view on the Irish taxiride1

  • You still have to signal to the postman in Ireland - it's because none of them send letters because none of them can read and write.
