We can watch all that shit over the internet if only the publishers would let us. We can get streaming content or we can download full video. Online video can do everything traditional media can. It's just a distribution medium same as a disc based media or satellite/cable TV.

To be opposed to it is to be a fucking idiot. It's just an issue of how to control the distribution of content, but guess what, TV and film are already on the internet whether you put em there or not.

He's right. For now. Eventually production costs will go down in *many* (not all) cases. (large casts, famous performers, licensing,etc will always cost something) But as high quality technology gets cheaper and cheaper for the consumer, quality content will have the chance to emerge in unexpected places. Eventually, inflated productions will no longer be tolerated by the marketplace and value will fall where culture insists it does. But middlemen will fight it to the death.

TV sucks. The only channels I watch are The Science Channel, The Discovery Channel (not woo ghost hunting BS), Comedy Central, and Adult Swim.

Everything else is pretty much garbage.

Well, replace "tv" with "mainstream media" and it's a good argument. Technically, yes, watching NBC on your laptop isn't watching tv, technically, but it's basically the same.

Same here, i watch american entertainment "on demand". Can't be arsed to watch pointless translations, months after their original release.

I have the TV running in the background on occasion, but other than soccer i never sit there and actually watch it.

For me it's a dying medium, no question. If the content providers don't change their business model, they won't be making a dime on people like me. Meanwhile i'll appreciate the better part of their content.
