@MrKa214492 We wish we could but our cats can never be released into the wild, releasing captive bred cats into the wild is extremely rare, we will however provide them with a permanent home for the rest of their lies :)
Those birds are not afraid of small cats. I notice a few birds just took food away from that cute lynx. And she just let them take it. By any chance the birds mistook the lynx as a cute little housecat?
Hi tandyx, I'm sorry you feel that way, but I can assure you that we don't make our cats do anything they don't want to do. If they don't want to come eat they don't, but as Scott said this is the best time of day for them! It's also a very important way for us to earn more money a single tiger costs us $7500 a year to feed. People enjoy the feeding tour as you can see and the best thing is they are paying for the cats food they're chomping down on!
yeah wheni read that it was like ok soo if you think that this is public display so is BCR in all aspect, and therefore it would be as if you also mean that taking tours in anyway through BCR is also against what you stand for as people would still be doing what you just saw now
It would be so cool to go on this tour, then again, for me, your tours are expensive... i'm gonna have to save up forever. lol
. It's great that you guys do so much for these animals. You take way better care of them then alot of places, too bad not all sanctuaries aren't as great as BCR...
I am so impressed with what this sanctuary and others like it are doing for these magnificent animals. I live in Colorado and only last year discovered the Wild Animal Sanctuary just outside of Denver. Since then, I've become so much more aware of the abuse these poor animals go through when people think they can be raised as pets and/or caged for entertainment. Huge high fives for the people that run these places and the people that make donations!
What kinds of enrcihment do you do with them? I noticed in the video they get chunks of meat off the bone- do you sometimes give them meat on the bone or implement carcass feeding?
Hi, good question we do all sorts of different enrichment at Big Cat Rescue, scent bags, tubes, bloodcicles, sardini martinis, chickcicles and of course we have the pumpkins and christmas trees as seen in our videos!
Wednesday night is "rat & bone" night, the smaller cats get whole rats and the big cats will get a rib bone from a cow and at other times they will get a whole rabbit, so they get whole prey at least once a week to stimulate their natural behaviours!
Hi, they were in their smaller cube cage on the side of their enclosure what we call the "lockout", this is where their water is and as you can see where they get fed every night. It's also a happy place for them they are used to it and being fed there and we can get a good look at them evry night to make sure they are OK without stressing them out.
It's a great feeling to know when you come on the tour, you are helping to feed the cats even though you personally don't give them the food. Great video.
wahhh i wanted to come visit you guys when i was in florida but i was on the east coast and didnt have enough vacation time to travel that way well maybe this summer i have a chance!!!
I just wanted to Say I admire the work You guys do, I'm eventually going to sign up to do some intern work, After i get my degree in Zoology. Keep up the good Work :).
Yep, we have over 100 volunteers and they really help to keep the place running smoothly. If you go to our website bigcatrescue•org you can find all the info you need about volunteering, thanks for watching!
Hi, our address is 12802 Easy Street, Tampa, Florida 33625.
The feeding tour is $50 per person and is a unique experience where you get to within a few feet of tigers chomping down on their food, for more info please read the description to this video, thanks for watching!
The feeding tour is $50 per person and lasts for around 1.5 hrs, if you want to find out more please read the description to the video and I hope to see you at the sanctuary some day!
I took the general tour when I was down there last summer. Thanks for posting all these videos, since I live in Nebraska it's kind of hard to see these tigers and other big cats any time I wish.
Why don't you guys have any cheetahs? Or are they strictly reserved for sanctuaries in Africa?
You should come back and take the feeding tour it's a cool experience! All our cats are rescued form bad situations alot of which are former pets that are discarded when people realise what a big mistake they have made!
Its commendable, the way you guys are doing it. Cheers!
