Theres a reason football players wear pads people. They hit with a hell of a lot more force than rugby players do. Also, when somebody gets hit hard, they want to be able to play the sport because they love playing. How can you keep playing If youve been paralyzed due to lack of safety.
@Jerry11606 You're obviously not an athlete, or are an American. This has been beaten into the floor. Rugby is way more dangerous than Football end of story. You can say all you want. I would love to see you go shoulder to shoulder with no pads or helmet with a 250lb man.
@rsx123 Yo retard, football players were shoulder pads to hit harder, all of your lower body including your whole stomach and part of your ribs are exposed. and they wear helmets so that if they get tackled a certain way, they just roll over rather than break your neck. I am a football player, and I've played rugby to. It dosen't matter which sport is tougher, but football is a lot more fun.
@guy2008rules I play american football, and live in Norway, yeah thats in Europe if ur wondering ;) but of course its not as popular as in the states, but i love the game and i cant picture a life without football.. also, soccer is for wimps.. and the amunt of force duing a rugby game and a football game is approximately the same, watch sports science "football vs rugby"
Does anyone else realise how there's very little footage of actual action of this game? Most videos just show anthems and cheerleaders. The most viewed video is one about a streaker, for Christ's sake. This isn't a sport. Keep this fat fairy, ad marathon show out of the UK.
Im british and think that football in the uk is shit boring and full of cheating pussys who spend most of the time rollng on the floor. But US football is 1. more fun to watch and play and 2. not full of pussys who cheat on their wives and cry all the time
Football (UK) is the worst sport I can imagine, US Football has real contact and is a real man sport like rugby played by huge muscular guys instead of wimps in shorts running around and kicking a football, well done. Well done you.
You, sir, are wrong. I believe American Football focuses a little more on size rather than inherent ability (look at lineman). I also think that it takes more ability to be a player in the premier league than it does to be an nfl player.
you have no idea how hard it is to be an NFL lineman. you have to be huge, incredibly strong and you have to have extremely quick feet as well as flawless blocking technique. There's alot more to blocking than just pushing someone.
They also have to memorize massive amounts of blocking formations, plays, and snap counts.
@rtuzak91 don't same more ability, because the ability is in completely different areas. linesmen must train every day to maintain their ~320 + lbs of muscle, and then they have 30 or so of fat. you must continually fight against someone just as strong as you, with perfect technique and having memorized an enormous playbook. trust me unless you watch football regularly AND play it you wont know
all you guys are pathetic americans and british..is this all you do in your life have petty little arguments on youtube if its not sports its war and if its not war it stupid stereotypes all you people need to do is grow up
first off fucker its not a shit sport, scoker is, all they do is run back n forth n dont even fucking score.. fucking losers, go fix ur fukn teeth u fat britts!
JoshMufc101:Actually if your all about your british history...it wasn't to long ago you Brits were worshiping fat people..so you have no place to talk shit...plus in terms of number of fat people per population size, England takes the cake.Yeah we have certain states with fat people namly the southern states, but the rest are fit and athletic which is probibly why we dominate in sports and why USA Soccer team has scored more quality wins internationally in 1 year than you have had in the last 4
uh i don't think the NFL cares if you care about their sport or not?? Americans don't mind cricket or rugby or whatever if they like it!! WHO are you to determine what somebody should like, or determine what is "shit"???
JoshMufc101: if your country didn't like the sport they wouldn't have sold out last years game in 1 day.....and this year on oct. 25, 2009 your country sold out the stadium again for the up coming Tampa Bay Buccs vs. New England Patriots game.................if your country didn't like it then they would not keep selling all the games out.......
JoshMufc101: 100,000 people ll bought tickets and sold out the stadium in 12 hours.........dude thats faster than most Premiership teams sell out in a 2 week period
And London beat out other European Countries for the NFL games.....meaning the demand was greater in your small country so obviously your fellow brits love it.
yeah it is faster than most premiership teams because it was a one off event..
ok so what your saying is we beat other european countries into hosting it.. like they care about it, if we did love it we would start a league but we wont because its shit.
lol "us soccer team got more quality wins in 1year then england in 4" firstly quality wins? whats that mean, and you made that up. you havn't had more wins than us, don't argue football with me, you no shit
JoshMufc101: Dude you are funny.... you do have leagues in your country you have a small semi-pro league and a small youth league......other countrys that have semi pro leagues and youth leagues, Sweeden, germany, Japan etc. How come i know more about your country than you do?
USA soccer beat Spain at #1 and almost beat #2 Brazil, and spanked Egypt.....the last time England beat a number 1 ranked team was mmmmmm a long ass time ago.....
ohh so because you beat spain in the conerations cup, a cup which no team is really bothered about, your better than us, USA are shit at soccer. they havnt got 1 world class player, not 1. come to britain ask around nobody likes your shit sport over hear.. rugby is tougher and better
JoshMufc101: SCOREBOARD....Wembley = sold out for NFL game 3rd time in 3 years.........USA beat #1 ranked team ....England hasn't beat a #1 ranked team in decades!!!!!!!!
ok it comes along once every year.. if it was a regular thing it wouldn't sell out! so you beat the #1 "ranked" team, does that make you better, no. name 1 world class US player, just 1
just cuz u dont like football doesnt mean UK doesnt like it..u dont speak for the UK boy..the britsh people should be glad the NFL grants them a game, they deserve to see some hard hitting action instead of their pussy ass soccer and clean tackle rugby..we need some dirty hits and blood..THE NFL!!
the US doesnt..no one even likes soccer around here..and you know, its actually better that the rest of the world doesnt follow football..thats our sport. but of course, obiously the British people are liking it
no british people dont like it a few hundred thousand out of 60million.. "pussy ass soccer" how old are you? pussy ass!! wtf, LOL rugby is alot tougher, you dont have fucking helmets in rugby!! and in american football you might run into micky mouse at the side, because its all commercail crap.. get it out of our great country! let you stupid yanks have your own stupid sports which knowbody else likes
thats how it starts, with a few hundred..and rugby players dont wear helmets cuz they hit harder in football..no one has ever died in rugby after a huge hit by a safety coming across the field..see sports science fool
Not an anti-football comment, I'm a huge American football fan, but the fact is, they hit harder in American football because of the pads. Nobody would be able to throw there body at somebody else so consistently, with such reckless abandonment without the safety net of the giant pads and helmet. Not to mention, you aren't allowed to tackle below the waist, or launch your body and leave your feet to make a tackle in rugby. It's common sense when you aren't wearing pads. Pads lead to injuries.
and thats wat we as americans like..to see big hits and people getting tossed all over the field..so yea, pads make it a bigger hit..thats why its tougher than rugby..trust me, ive played both
I'm an American, and that's not the aspect of the game I like. I don't dislike it, but I don't view it as a let down when a game goes by and there were no giant hits.
"in american football you might run into micky mouse at the side, because its all commercial crap.. "
Not gonna argue that American football isn't commercialized, but at the same time, EPL paints advertisements on there fields! Not to mention the advertising they do on there jerseys!
oh right.. painted advertisements on the side, and sponsers on the shirts whearas micky mouse and cheer leaders on your pitch, god bless america you pussy as faggot bitch!! if you knew anything, which you don't. people in the south speak posh, in the north we don't. dude!!!!!
I don't know what this Micky Mouse thing is you keep bringing up is but either way, I'm sure you would prefer that the cheerleaders had big bloody wankers.
Just go shed a few tears to the Eastenders and choke to death on your mums fart pudding.
wankers don't mean tits you cunt, "fart pudding" how old are you? its like talking to a fucking 10 year old and your 46! ha.. you just a fat angry american who knows nothing about the world his country supposedly own.
@JoshMufc101 i'm sorry if we're not idiots and actually give a crap whether our players get injured or not. How about you google "rugby injury statistics"
@JoshMufc101 that wasn't my point. My point was that there's a reason we use padding and helmets, without them there would be many more life threating injuries particularly to the neck.
@JoshMufc101 hey dumbass, rugby is a booooring sport, and its NOT tougher, u obviously dont know too much abouts sports, and if u did u would know that the average force taken per player during a game is almost the same.. and what is that world cup ur talking about that nobody heard of?
Obviously somebody in the UK likes it. Because not only do they order merchandise over seas, they've sold the game at Wembley stadium out two years in a row in less than a day.
Hell wouldn't even be at Wembley if somebody didn't like it. Sorry JoshMufC but you don't speak for everybody.
hes right, nfl isnt popular in england, the only reason it gets sold out is because its a one-off event. If there was only one soccer game in the U.S in New York it would sell out before you could say 'anal'
J3r3m3Rog3rs: 1.) im black and native mixed, meaning half of my family was native to the country and have were forced here......2) Just about every country with white people in it have stolen it from native peoples so thats not saying much about white dominated societies as a whole.
american 'football' and rugby are both shit, i hope this helps your arguement. at least rugby has a professional league in more than one country. football is the only truly global sport.
football is what the rest of the world play, the only country in the world to call it soccer is the states (perhaps canada). can't imagine they'd ever be a franchise in the u.k. you might be able to sell out a game once a year but its just not popular enough to have a full time team
Most English language speaking call soccer soccer and football football.
Here's a list of English speakers.
Note that Americans, Canadians, Australians and Bermudians call soccer soccer and football football. That's 242,840,000 English speakers who use the term soccer and 65,530,000 who don't.
Note that having the French calling soccer "le football" doesn't help your case. Pied is French for foot and "boule" is French for ball.
how about the fact the english, the people whos language you speak call football football. i like the addition of bermudians by the way. also aussies call aussie rules football football, not american football.
the whole world, other than a couple of countries call it football. football was created 100 years before american football. the fact that you accuse me of being illiterate without being able to spell it is rather ironic
I was hurrying I did not know YouTube required perfect spelling!! It may have been created before football but official rules were created around the same time!! If you are going to call it football start speaking Spanish so you sound less illiterate!
no they wern't. football in some form was being played in england 1200 years ago, america has only been around for 200 years and american football, spawned from rugby has only been around 150. a professional football league has been running in england for 120 years, long before there were any professional american football players. i'm english, you speak my language. our version of football has been around longer than yours. only 5% of the world calls american football, football.
Where did you find out that 5% of the world calls it football???? Official rules for soccer were made in 1848 and footballs official rules were made in 1892 so 44 years is not much of a difference!
what other countries in the world call american football, football? its still 50 years before american football was even invented that football was called football
Candians Australians and Bermudians! Why are we debating how old the sports are WE ALL KNOW THE NEWER THE BETTER!! Would you want to bang an 80 year old?? Would you want to drive a pinto??? would you want to paint your crib with led paint???
bermuda has a population of 60,000, would you bang a 6 year old? would you drive a smart car? if you made a new type of choclate and called it hershey you'd be sued. why? because hershey called itself hershey long before you and even if they didn't everyone would know the original was the true hershey
Captaintefal is right. There is only ONE true Football. Sepp Blatter should step in and force the USA to acknowledge the game by its true name. Or get kicked out of the Federation. I'm sick of Americans calling football by that ridiculous name. The name of the sport is football. Not the synonym for lollipop.
baisclly you yanks (americans) or just copying brits and why do you call it football?? you dont us e your feet dumb ars's so why dont you go play some baseball or some crappy basketball england all the way !!!!!!!!!!!
i wood jus like to say i went to this game and it was amazing i no all da rules but still any1 hu dnt no the rules wood still ave fun coz of the gr8 atmosphere + tampa bay bucs rule woooohoooo gona win our nfc division blatently
the only reason why brits don't like football is because they don't understand it. heck, if you're living in the uk and reading this comment u probably don't know what 1st and 10 means do u?or even a fist down? brits don't like it because they don't have a favorite team or understand the strategy that is going in to every play call. and yes the nfl has great atmosphere just click on youtube like a really important college football game like oklahoma vs. texas tech or texas tech vs texas
wtf are u talking about? in like 20 years or so when enough country's get competitive at the game that would be awesome. and wtf are u talking about? the olympics are in the summer...how would they interferet with the season.
When do you think training camp starts? Spring. When do you think Preseason and final cuts along with the first week of the season come up? Late summer. Just happens to be the time the Olympics come around, and no coach is gonna risk losing a million dollar player to an injury literally right before the season
1.)the olympics are only for a few days, training camp is a while.
2.)nobody who's worried about getting cut is going to be on the team.
3.)commissioner roger goodell is trying to eliminate the preseason all together so he doesn't care very much for preseason and that's all that matters
4.)football stars cost more than a million dollars
5.)goodel has installed the switch next year where the pro bowl is played BEFORE the super bowl, the coaches will have to worry about an injury in that as well
ok, the only reason i mentioned it was because i was theorizing possible reasons for going to london because somebody asked me. and i think roger goodel is a proud bitch by the way he suspends pacman cuz he's so proud so now he does this cuz he's so prroud of his sport and i bet he'd love to have his sport in the olympics. that's why
we dont like it because its a cheap gay version of rugby. its quite clearly copied and the players wear huge amounts of unessacary padding, do you see rugby players wearing any padding? no, none at all. and another annoying thing is that the game is called 'Football' when the only part in which you actually use your feet is runing and the ball is carried in hands. It just doesnt make sense. and also, the game seems to stop and start every 15 seconds. We find it very boring compared to our sports
see, that's my point, u wait for those 15 seconds bored while we passionate fans anticipate what's happening next because we care so god damn much i don't why i do but i really get depressed after my favorite college team loses(cal) so it's really 2 hours of action packed adrenaline and mood swings for me every play. and i heard that it's called football because the ball is 1 foot long, at least that's what my dad tells me. and oh btw, the padding is very necesary it's called being safe.
1) 80k odd people filled wembley to watch the game about 70k were english
2)Rugby is almost a clone of NFL these days (field markings, even down to wearing those leather caps worn in the AFL in the 40's
3)Stop using the stereotypical english put downs of the sport im tired of hearing them (stick to following a sport where the winners never change) IM ENGLISH BY THE WAY.
Sportingo article that verfies stats through polls...stated most of the crowd were americans stationed abroad who went.. 7000 empty seats.
nfl Europe folded due to zero fan interest..now yanks desperately prostitute Gridiron further by playin domestic games abroad trying to give it a smidgen of popularity outside america
#1.Songs of Praise (old people singing) was chosen ahead of the nfl Gridiron game on BBC. #2.The Times ran a story declaring only novelty interest and poor sales of stocks
holy smokes, being American-australian/or Australian-american im starting to hate my own self now after reading all this "whose better & who sucks" too much hate already out there us english speaking folks need to stick tgogether no matter what. people really, these are the times im glad im either/or, and or wishing i was Canadian or a Kiwi.
Just read a Times article about how little interest there was in the Gridiron game oh which largely only yanks abroad went, the main store selling Gridiron goods reported poor sales..which "reflected only novelty interest in the product and game"
this cheap rip off sport shouldnt be played here. wembley deserves far better than this shit. dont bother trying to make it popular here itll never work.
your an idiot, NFL is way better then rugby, ive seen the two sports and there is a clear difference, NFL is not cheap, nor a ripoff, its fucking great, and we have the fans here in Philadelphia to prove it.
NFL is a good sport, but it's not going to work introducing America's version of Rugby into the UK, because the UK already has it's own version of Rugby, it's called...Rugby.
"NFL commissioner Goodell is a dreamer. There isn't much buzz around London over Chargers-Saints, but commissioner is convinced his sport can cross borders. NFL Europe was league's attempt at globalization of the game" #FAIL#
Sportingo..
"Do Europeans even care? A big chunk of the crowd (Wembley) will be Americans living, working or stationed by military in Europe. The dead-and-buried NFL Europe league is proof Europeans were not exactly ready to embrace it"
Correct European's dont care about football teams from america as MLS is shit (no disrespect to any yanks intended)
Having said that LA Galaxy (Beckhams' team) played here in Sydney...and the place was a complete sell out of 80,000)...mainly to see him and our local team.
nfl Gridiron is seen as an alien novelty game...stop start.. its tailored for people not really there for a spectacle but more to have breaks, yanks "hunt down nachos during actual play" as one article stated.
Beckham went to america as worlds most famous sportsman, now its true that its only american stations that show the MLS football as outside people have no interest, no direspect but yanks cant play football (small exception some keepers are ok)
16.9 million americans watched 2006 Football world cup..less than 2 million outside america "watched" 2008 Gridiron superbowl. So..over 8 times more Americans like football than people outside america like the alien novelty game nfl Gridiron.
No. I meant MLS is never on TV in AMERICA. We could care less about the MLS. I don't know anyone that can name 2 teams. No one knowing who Beckham was shows our disinterest. But he's living it up in LA.
You do know how many American citizens are originally from Europe don't you?The people who attend the MLS games all speak Spanish or French.
Just like most of the people at Wembley stadium for that game were Americans, the people who watch soccer or the World Cup are of a different country.
Thing is Beckham as the worlds most famous sportsman has never been anywhere near the top 10 football players in the world (farcically he got 2nd once)..its image that made him big, free kicks..and endless marketing
I dont disagree that football wont be #1 in America as americans are accustomed to constant stoppages, breaks, static, so they can do other things..heck even watch commercials. Going to Gridiron or baseball its like a picnic..you can eat and talk about things
Accustomed to constant stoppage? Basketball is one of our top sports.
I love how you talk like you've been to an American football game before. Baseball is like a picnic when it's not the World Series. But EVERY football game is defining loud. I go to a SCHOOL where the football stadium is 110,700. It's not even the biggest stadium in our CONFERENCE let alone the nation.
Baseball *cough* Rounders is americas pastime (even though it was invented by British for small children to run around bases)
Gridiron is most viewed..both games are stop start-athons. Heres Sportingo...
.."In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos and peanuts, use the bathroom or talk on cell phones!"
We have the same articles about soccer. But we know not to take them seriously. You show your ignorance by believing someones written words who has probably never attended an American sporting event.
Man U vs Celtic was on ESPN 2 last week.. I believe Man U was the home team. They all wore street close and sat down the whole game.
I see you're from Australia. Pretty cocky for someone from Australia. What do you have to be proud about?
Everyone knows the gulf in atmosphere generated in say the EPL and Gridiron, baseball or any american game...HUGE. Yanks are used to watchin in quiet, no cheering, have chats during endless breaks...go hunt food during actual play. In basketball there a sound system that blurts out..do do do do do...to break the silence. Brits went over to see Lewis fight Tyson..Brits were cheering while yanks sat quietly..as always
You have no first hand knowledge of what an American football game is like. You keep saying the same thing over and over which tells me you have no further argument.
I go to Penn State University. Our stadium is over 110,700. The fans NEVER sit down, all 110,700 stand the entire game. We camp out weeks before the game to get good sits in the stadium.
Why don't you stop being so Anti-American and actually do some research.
You're Australian. Why do you care what brits do. American envy?
Man..highest decibel recorded at a sports event was an the EPL game, which they break many times over
Read the Sportingo article on Gridiron....
.."In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos and peanuts, use the bathroom or talk on cell phones!"
Gridiron is like going to a picnic...eat and talk about things
HAHA Did you miss the part where I said you keep saying the same thing over and over. Ignoring my comments shows you have no argument.
You're Australian, what do you have to be proud of?????????????? Answer me that.
Article in Sports Illustrated: "Soccer is a boring sport. It's a fact. Every soccer game is boring. Not one fan cheers. Every single soccer fan sits there and drinks tea. It's a proven fact that all soccer players and fans are gay"
Ok so from the looks of your profile it's clear this is not about football. It's about you being jelous of America.
You're another Australian with American-envy.
We openly hate what we secretly admire. You've devoted your entire profile to hating America. That is pathetic. Envy is an ugly thing. I'm flattered you've devoted all of your time to America.
P.S. Only Baseball is called "World Series" because it includes teams from more than one country.Just like theWorld Cup
PMSL..the typical insecure american inferiority complex is now oozing out. Fat/ugly people patronisingly get told people are jealous of them. Did you watch the vid "the owners of this country"??
Explains all yank, as gullible obedient "simple folk" you are get screwed by your owners, low paid jobs, shitty healthcare and education...but you have zero CRITICAL THINKING to question anything, dumb...so get shafted. Literacy 55th, health 72nd, infant mortality 48th, wealth per capita 14th. THINK.
Typical inferiority complex? You're the one whos entire profile is bashing Americans?
You spend a majority of your day thinking about America. What does that say about you? And no I didn't watch your video's. I'm in law school so I don't have the time. Unlike you.
Envy is an ugly thing. You are just another Anti-American who secretly wishes he was American. We openly hate what we secretly admire.
U.S= The Power of the World. Ah, I'm glad I grew up in LA rather than nasty Australia
Was an appraisal by an AMERICAN that gets unanimous praise..and nails everything ive stated. Its common knowledge...not my words.
Again...typical insecure american inferiority complex is now oozing out..."anti-american", so is the american in the vid that nails it also "anti-american"??? Its dead simple, truth hurts and being incapable of critical thinking as a gullibe, obedient, inferior race of subordinates who get shafted. RULE BRITANNIA.
Slater has been posting this same bs on every vid i've seen regarding this game. His hostile tone and persistent bashing of what he doesn't understand is the same behavior we yanks see in those who voted for George Bush. If Slater were American, he would be a Republican tool.
Come on guys, lets not make this America vs U.k., or American football vs Rugby, we're allies, I consider the brits as close friends, and both are sports. Get over yerselves man. This video is about streakers, and shouldn't be used as a medium of idiocy and what-not.
I honestly almost cried laughing when I saw him do push-ups, lol.
"Do Europeans even care? A big chunk of the 81,000 Wembley on Sunday will be Americans living, working or stationed by the military in Europe"
...."The dead-and-buried NFL Europe league is proof Europeans were not ready to embrace it. They prefer action to be on-going, done in under two hours and devoid of television timeouts and play-calling huddles. Atmosphere at American sports can be dull. The question of "Do Europeans care?" is already answered. No."
"ahem".. 9 of top 10 nations wealth per capita are European..none play Gridiron, Obviously as no-one plays Gridiron except dirtpoor blacks from slums given scholarships.
More of US Sportingo quote.....
..."In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos. The question of "Do Europeans care?" is already answered. No."
I agree. I've lived in Europe for half my life, recently I lived in Vienna. I was at the Euro 2008 games, watched every game, cheering on Germany to win. The Atmosphere can be so much fun and exciting, if you're a young drunk or partier like myself. In USA, we bring families to games. Of course were not going to get drunk and riot the streets causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages and killing tons of people (like every year in soccer)
Part 2: Of course it is not dull when everyone is drunk fighing each other, or stabbing each other. I watched a group of Turkish fans stab Croatians fans before the game this year. I had knives pulled on me for wearing the wrong color.
Well it was actually the US sportingo that quoted and acknowledged it...hence "In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos"
Thats why theres complete silence at Gridiron..as its static, constant stop start, a game lasts up to 4 hours and has a total average actual playing time of 12 minutes.
Wembley Gridiron game had over 9000 empty seats in official attendance..over half tickets were allocated to yanks. After half time it was more than a third empty.
Test of popularity is a Gridiron league not a one off circus where no-one has a clue about the game. nfl Europe folded last year after nfl pumped millions into it but gave up due to zero fan interest.
i play "gridiron" and i've played "football" in the past and where I'm from "gridiron" is a big deal and I absolutely love it. I can also see why "football" is the "beautiful game" to almost all the nations of the world, I have alot of respect for it. It's hard to for people to have interest in something they don't understand.
cause its not big blokes or ocasionaly little blokes gettin an egg and running for it to the "endzone"?? no knocking a ball about wi your feet take alot more skill than holding and running. you yanks cant win this argument weve had it so many times with rugby fans.
Well it's the same as calling us Brits really. Anyway Yankees originally meant a Dutchman settled in what was later the US, they were called Jan Kees (or John Cheese) due to the diaryfarming alot of the Dutch involved.
Thank you for acting mature in your response (no sarcasm). Usually in these type of arguments I get replies that are immature, calling ALL Americans fat and stupid, etc. It feels weird to have a mature conersation on YouTube. :)
Theres a reason football players wear pads people. They hit with a hell of a lot more force than rugby players do. Also, when somebody gets hit hard, they want to be able to play the sport because they love playing. How can you keep playing If youve been paralyzed due to lack of safety.
Also tights>girl shorts...just sayin..

Football (UK) is the worst sport I can imagine, US Football has real contact and is a real man sport like rugby played by huge muscular guys instead of wimps in shorts running around and kicking a football, well done. Well done you.
SyanidalTV 2 years ago
You, sir, are wrong. I believe American Football focuses a little more on size rather than inherent ability (look at lineman). I also think that it takes more ability to be a player in the premier league than it does to be an nfl player.
rtuzak91 2 years ago
you have no idea how hard it is to be an NFL lineman. you have to be huge, incredibly strong and you have to have extremely quick feet as well as flawless blocking technique. There's alot more to blocking than just pushing someone.
They also have to memorize massive amounts of blocking formations, plays, and snap counts.
GalactusPBN 2 years ago
yeah well in football mate you dont have to have good memory and be fat you have to have pure skill and imagination
jellyton14 1 year ago
@rtuzak91 don't same more ability, because the ability is in completely different areas. linesmen must train every day to maintain their ~320 + lbs of muscle, and then they have 30 or so of fat. you must continually fight against someone just as strong as you, with perfect technique and having memorized an enormous playbook. trust me unless you watch football regularly AND play it you wont know

SoCalJ310 2 years ago
ok so 100,000 people like it out of 70million, its a shit sport, UK doesn't like shitty american football, nobody does only america
JoshMufc101 2 years ago
JoshMufc101: 100,000 people ll bought tickets and sold out the stadium in 12 hours.........dude thats faster than most Premiership teams sell out in a 2 week period
And London beat out other European Countries for the NFL games.....meaning the demand was greater in your small country so obviously your fellow brits love it.
SoCalJ310 2 years ago
yeah it is faster than most premiership teams because it was a one off event..
ok so what your saying is we beat other european countries into hosting it.. like they care about it, if we did love it we would start a league but we wont because its shit.
lol "us soccer team got more quality wins in 1year then england in 4" firstly quality wins? whats that mean, and you made that up. you havn't had more wins than us, don't argue football with me, you no shit

USA soccer beat Spain at #1 and almost beat #2 Brazil, and spanked Egypt.....the last time England beat a number 1 ranked team was mmmmmm a long ass time ago.....
SoCalJ310 2 years ago
ohh so because you beat spain in the conerations cup, a cup which no team is really bothered about, your better than us, USA are shit at soccer. they havnt got 1 world class player, not 1. come to britain ask around nobody likes your shit sport over hear.. rugby is tougher and better

MrAranda86 2 years ago
no british people dont like it a few hundred thousand out of 60million..
JoshMufc101 2 years ago
thats how it starts, with a few hundred..and rugby players dont wear helmets cuz they hit harder in football..no one has ever died in rugby after a huge hit by a safety coming across the field..see sports science fool
MrAranda86 2 years ago
Not an anti-football comment, I'm a huge American football fan, but the fact is, they hit harder in American football because of the pads. Nobody would be able to throw there body at somebody else so consistently, with such reckless abandonment without the safety net of the giant pads and helmet. Not to mention, you aren't allowed to tackle below the waist, or launch your body and leave your feet to make a tackle in rugby. It's common sense when you aren't wearing pads. Pads lead to injuries.
avanpeltno2fan 2 years ago
and thats wat we as americans like..to see big hits and people getting tossed all over the field..so yea, pads make it a bigger hit..thats why its tougher than rugby..trust me, ive played both
MrAranda86 2 years ago
I'm an American, and that's not the aspect of the game I like. I don't dislike it, but I don't view it as a let down when a game goes by and there were no giant hits.
avanpeltno2fan 2 years ago
"in american football you might run into micky mouse at the side, because its all commercial crap.. "
Not gonna argue that American football isn't commercialized, but at the same time, EPL paints advertisements on there fields! Not to mention the advertising they do on there jerseys!
Now go make out with your David Beckham poster.
God save the Queen.

well rugby is tougher AND a better sport, it actually has a world cup, American football is shit.
JoshMufc101 1 year ago
@JoshMufc101 that wasn't my point. My point was that there's a reason we use padding and helmets, without them there would be many more life threating injuries particularly to the neck.

Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
football is what the rest of the world play, the only country in the world to call it soccer is the states (perhaps canada). can't imagine they'd ever be a franchise in the u.k. you might be able to sell out a game once a year but its just not popular enough to have a full time team
captaintefal 2 years ago
Most English language speaking call soccer soccer and football football.
Here's a list of English speakers.
Note that Americans, Canadians, Australians and Bermudians call soccer soccer and football football. That's 242,840,000 English speakers who use the term soccer and 65,530,000 who don't.
Note that having the French calling soccer "le football" doesn't help your case. Pied is French for foot and "boule" is French for ball.
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
how about the fact the english, the people whos language you speak call football football. i like the addition of bermudians by the way. also aussies call aussie rules football football, not american football.
captaintefal 2 years ago
More people who speak English say soccer not football so when you say football you really just sound illitarate!
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
the whole world, other than a couple of countries call it football. football was created 100 years before american football. the fact that you accuse me of being illiterate without being able to spell it is rather ironic
captaintefal 2 years ago
I was hurrying I did not know YouTube required perfect spelling!! It may have been created before football but official rules were created around the same time!! If you are going to call it football start speaking Spanish so you sound less illiterate!
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
no they wern't. football in some form was being played in england 1200 years ago, america has only been around for 200 years and american football, spawned from rugby has only been around 150. a professional football league has been running in england for 120 years, long before there were any professional american football players. i'm english, you speak my language. our version of football has been around longer than yours. only 5% of the world calls american football, football.
captaintefal 2 years ago
Where did you find out that 5% of the world calls it football???? Official rules for soccer were made in 1848 and footballs official rules were made in 1892 so 44 years is not much of a difference!
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
what other countries in the world call american football, football? its still 50 years before american football was even invented that football was called football
captaintefal 2 years ago
Candians Australians and Bermudians! Why are we debating how old the sports are WE ALL KNOW THE NEWER THE BETTER!! Would you want to bang an 80 year old?? Would you want to drive a pinto??? would you want to paint your crib with led paint???
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
bermuda has a population of 60,000, would you bang a 6 year old? would you drive a smart car? if you made a new type of choclate and called it hershey you'd be sued. why? because hershey called itself hershey long before you and even if they didn't everyone would know the original was the true hershey
captaintefal 2 years ago
If I made Hershey in a Country that never heard of Hershey then no I would not be sued!
Pokerboy12345 2 years ago
Captaintefal is right. There is only ONE true Football. Sepp Blatter should step in and force the USA to acknowledge the game by its true name. Or get kicked out of the Federation. I'm sick of Americans calling football by that ridiculous name. The name of the sport is football. Not the synonym for lollipop.

rawdawg15 3 years ago
wtf are u talking about? in like 20 years or so when enough country's get competitive at the game that would be awesome. and wtf are u talking about? the olympics are in the summer...how would they interferet with the season.
djax4mvp 3 years ago
When do you think training camp starts? Spring. When do you think Preseason and final cuts along with the first week of the season come up? Late summer. Just happens to be the time the Olympics come around, and no coach is gonna risk losing a million dollar player to an injury literally right before the season
rawdawg15 3 years ago
1.)the olympics are only for a few days, training camp is a while.
2.)nobody who's worried about getting cut is going to be on the team.
3.)commissioner roger goodell is trying to eliminate the preseason all together so he doesn't care very much for preseason and that's all that matters
4.)football stars cost more than a million dollars
5.)goodel has installed the switch next year where the pro bowl is played BEFORE the super bowl, the coaches will have to worry about an injury in that as well
djax4mvp 3 years ago
ok, what countries are you gonna convince to field a team?
rawdawg15 3 years ago
ok, the only reason i mentioned it was because i was theorizing possible reasons for going to london because somebody asked me. and i think roger goodel is a proud bitch by the way he suspends pacman cuz he's so proud so now he does this cuz he's so prroud of his sport and i bet he'd love to have his sport in the olympics. that's why
djax4mvp 3 years ago
idk...it would be interesting to have an all pro NFL team playing...but like you said it would interfere with other NFL stuff
blair91234 3 years ago
we dont like it because its a cheap gay version of rugby. its quite clearly copied and the players wear huge amounts of unessacary padding, do you see rugby players wearing any padding? no, none at all. and another annoying thing is that the game is called 'Football' when the only part in which you actually use your feet is runing and the ball is carried in hands. It just doesnt make sense. and also, the game seems to stop and start every 15 seconds. We find it very boring compared to our sports
safcpityak 3 years ago
see, that's my point, u wait for those 15 seconds bored while we passionate fans anticipate what's happening next because we care so god damn much i don't why i do but i really get depressed after my favorite college team loses(cal) so it's really 2 hours of action packed adrenaline and mood swings for me every play. and i heard that it's called football because the ball is 1 foot long, at least that's what my dad tells me. and oh btw, the padding is very necesary it's called being safe.
djax4mvp 3 years ago
1) 80k odd people filled wembley to watch the game about 70k were english
2)Rugby is almost a clone of NFL these days (field markings, even down to wearing those leather caps worn in the AFL in the 40's

Union Tribune on Gridiron...
The dead-and-buried NFL Europe league is proof Europeans were not exactly ready to embrace it"
Slater071 3 years ago
It was a better turn out than if 2 soccer teams came to play in Europe.
It's just two difference worlds. Why would we care about soccer teams from Europe, and why would you care about Football teams from America.
fol2005 3 years ago
Correct European's dont care about football teams from america as MLS is shit (no disrespect to any yanks intended)
Having said that LA Galaxy (Beckhams' team) played here in Sydney...and the place was a complete sell out of 80,000)...mainly to see him and our local team.
nfl Gridiron is seen as an alien novelty game...stop start.. its tailored for people not really there for a spectacle but more to have breaks, yanks "hunt down nachos during actual play" as one article stated.
Slater071 3 years ago
Not there for a spectacle but more to have breaks?
Where are you getting that? People live and die by football in the US.
I'm sure that Australian journalist who wrote that was in expert on American culture and football and not just another Anti- American. (sarcasm)
No one even knew who Beckham was when he came over here. That's how little we care. MLS games are never on TV.
Soccer will never be our sport, and football will never be yours. Lets just end it at that.
fol2005 3 years ago
hahaha
Beckham went to america as worlds most famous sportsman, now its true that its only american stations that show the MLS football as outside people have no interest, no direspect but yanks cant play football (small exception some keepers are ok)
16.9 million americans watched 2006 Football world cup..less than 2 million outside america "watched" 2008 Gridiron superbowl. So..over 8 times more Americans like football than people outside america like the alien novelty game nfl Gridiron.
Slater071 3 years ago
Just like most of the people at Wembley stadium for that game were Americans, the people who watch soccer or the World Cup are of a different country.
fol2005 3 years ago
Sure yank..whateva
Thing is Beckham as the worlds most famous sportsman has never been anywhere near the top 10 football players in the world (farcically he got 2nd once)..its image that made him big, free kicks..and endless marketing
I dont disagree that football wont be #1 in America as americans are accustomed to constant stoppages, breaks, static, so they can do other things..heck even watch commercials. Going to Gridiron or baseball its like a picnic..you can eat and talk about things
Slater071 3 years ago
Accustomed to constant stoppage? Basketball is one of our top sports.
I love how you talk like you've been to an American football game before. Baseball is like a picnic when it's not the World Series. But EVERY football game is defining loud. I go to a SCHOOL where the football stadium is 110,700. It's not even the biggest stadium in our CONFERENCE let alone the nation.
fol2005 3 years ago
Baseball *cough* Rounders is americas pastime (even though it was invented by British for small children to run around bases)
Gridiron is most viewed..both games are stop start-athons. Heres Sportingo...
.."In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos and peanuts, use the bathroom or talk on cell phones!"
Slater071 3 years ago
Let me guess- That reporter wasn't from the US...
What do you have to be proud about?
fol2005 3 years ago
Street "close"...clothes..and?? Your point is??

American envy?

....an example of how loud games are
LSU vs Auburn University
97,000 fans at LSU stadium. The Richter scale picked it up as a small earthquake miles away... look it up

This must be true becaue it was written

Ok so from the looks of your profile it's clear this is not about football. It's about you being jelous of America.
You're another Australian with American-envy.
We openly hate what we secretly admire. You've devoted your entire profile to hating America. That is pathetic. Envy is an ugly thing. I'm flattered you've devoted all of your time to America.
P.S. Only Baseball is called "World Series" because it includes teams from more than one country.Just like theWorld Cup
fol2005 3 years ago
PMSL..the typical insecure american inferiority complex is now oozing out. Fat/ugly people patronisingly get told people are jealous of them. Did you watch the vid "the owners of this country"??
Explains all yank, as gullible obedient "simple folk" you are get screwed by your owners, low paid jobs, shitty healthcare and education...but you have zero CRITICAL THINKING to question anything, dumb...so get shafted. Literacy 55th, health 72nd, infant mortality 48th, wealth per capita 14th. THINK.
Slater071 3 years ago
Typical inferiority complex? You're the one whos entire profile is bashing Americans?
You spend a majority of your day thinking about America. What does that say about you? And no I didn't watch your video's. I'm in law school so I don't have the time. Unlike you.
Envy is an ugly thing. You are just another Anti-American who secretly wishes he was American. We openly hate what we secretly admire.
U.S= The Power of the World. Ah, I'm glad I grew up in LA rather than nasty Australia

Exactly...
....."the owners of this country"
Was an appraisal by an AMERICAN that gets unanimous praise..and nails everything ive stated. Its common knowledge...not my words.
Again...typical insecure american inferiority complex is now oozing out..."anti-american", so is the american in the vid that nails it also "anti-american"??? Its dead simple, truth hurts and being incapable of critical thinking as a gullibe, obedient, inferior race of subordinates who get shafted. RULE BRITANNIA.
Slater071 3 years ago
You're Australian...
I can see why you'd be envious of Americans.
fol2005 3 years ago
Slater has been posting this same bs on every vid i've seen regarding this game. His hostile tone and persistent bashing of what he doesn't understand is the same behavior we yanks see in those who voted for George Bush. If Slater were American, he would be a Republican tool.

Whats with the queer brits and streaking?

Come on guys, lets not make this America vs U.k., or American football vs Rugby, we're allies, I consider the brits as close friends, and both are sports. Get over yerselves man. This video is about streakers, and shouldn't be used as a medium of idiocy and what-not.
I honestly almost cried laughing when I saw him do push-ups, lol.

GRIDIRON. US Sportingo quote...
No."
Slater071 3 years ago
Come on. Watching guys run around passing the ball for a couple hours maybe scoring once or twice is so boring.
Its a cheap game you poor Europeans can play easily, its simple to understand.
Half of the game you fools are drunk anyway. Most of ya never even seen a game sober.
DavieDave59 3 years ago
No."
Slater071 3 years ago
DavieDave59 3 years ago
Part 2: Of course it is not dull when everyone is drunk fighing each other, or stabbing each other. I watched a group of Turkish fans stab Croatians fans before the game this year. I had knives pulled on me for wearing the wrong color.
If you say thats better some how, thats fine.
DavieDave59 3 years ago
Well it was actually the US sportingo that quoted and acknowledged it...hence "In general, atmosphere at American sports can be dull. Cheering is very mechanical and that isn't what English football are about when they pack Old Trafford or Anfield. Americans get up during actual play to hunt down nachos"
Thats why theres complete silence at Gridiron..as its static, constant stop start, a game lasts up to 4 hours and has a total average actual playing time of 12 minutes.
Slater071 3 years ago
Gridiron sucks
Wembley Gridiron game had over 9000 empty seats in official attendance..over half tickets were allocated to yanks. After half time it was more than a third empty.
Test of popularity is a Gridiron league not a one off circus where no-one has a clue about the game. nfl Europe folded last year after nfl pumped millions into it but gave up due to zero fan interest.
Slater071 3 years ago
is it really fair to say it sucks though.
i play "gridiron" and i've played "football" in the past and where I'm from "gridiron" is a big deal and I absolutely love it. I can also see why "football" is the "beautiful game" to almost all the nations of the world, I have alot of respect for it. It's hard to for people to have interest in something they don't understand.
Bishop30 3 years ago
cause its not big blokes or ocasionaly little blokes gettin an egg and running for it to the "endzone"?? no knocking a ball about wi your feet take alot more skill than holding and running. you yanks cant win this argument weve had it so many times with rugby fans.
Salvidge1 3 years ago
You conveniently left out the precision involved in passing, punting, and kicking field-goals. There are many different aspects to the sport.

I don't also see why English people call us "Yanks". Nobody takes it offensive. Its like calling a British person a Red Coat.
M1cvyo 3 years ago
Well it's the same as calling us Brits really. Anyway Yankees originally meant a Dutchman settled in what was later the US, they were called Jan Kees (or John Cheese) due to the diaryfarming alot of the Dutch involved.

wow. that was informative thanks. (seriously, no sarcasm.)
Bishop30 3 years ago
Thank you for acting mature in your response (no sarcasm). Usually in these type of arguments I get replies that are immature, calling ALL Americans fat and stupid, etc. It feels weird to have a mature conersation on YouTube. :)
