What you don't understand is Colorism. Please learn it b/c it is like a plague in the African-American community. Furthermore, why should it be necessary to tell a dark skinned woman you're not attracted to her, especially when you are not prompted to do so. If you haven't noticed, darker skinned BW as a whole get slammed within the African-American community and by greater society as a whole for simply being dark skinned. Our society as a whole view dark skin, especially on a woman to be unattractive, at times unfeminine, ugly, and dirty. BW with dark skin are constantly being negatively portrayed as being loud, overweight, rude, tacky, etc...These stereotypes originated during the times of slavery to justify the enslavement of Blacks.
Many African-Americans, practiced a form of "whitening" post-slavery era by purposely selecting mates with "good hair" , "light skin" and "good features"--features that resembled Whites b/c having those traits actually did help improve your social and economic standing. It helped you have better access to better paying jobs, better educational opportunities, and lead to having higher levels of wealth. These attitudes were taught from generation to generations.
The pathology has now become normal and we act on it subconsciously believing that this light skin preference that is dominant in the African American community is actually natural when it has more to do with our socialization due to living in a racist and color conscious society that is bias in favor of fair and light skin. That is why most BW who are darker skinned get upset b/c you are disrespectful enough to proclaim a bias due to internalized racism and do it in their face!

What you don't understand is Colorism. Please learn it b/c it is like a plague in the African-American community. Furthermore, why should it be necessary to tell a dark skinned woman you're not attracted to her, especially when you are not prompted to do so. If you haven't noticed, darker skinned BW as a whole get slammed within the African-American community and by greater society as a whole for simply being dark skinned. Our society as a whole view dark skin, especially on a woman to be unattractive, at times unfeminine, ugly, and dirty. BW with dark skin are constantly being negatively portrayed as being loud, overweight, rude, tacky, etc...These stereotypes originated during the times of slavery to justify the enslavement of Blacks.

Many African-Americans, practiced a form of "whitening" post-slavery era by purposely selecting mates with "good hair" , "light skin" and "good features"--features that resembled Whites b/c having those traits actually did help improve your social and economic standing. It helped you have better access to better paying jobs, better educational opportunities, and lead to having higher levels of wealth. These attitudes were taught from generation to generations.

The pathology has now become normal and we act on it subconsciously believing that this light skin preference that is dominant in the African American community is actually natural when it has more to do with our socialization due to living in a racist and color conscious society that is bias in favor of fair and light skin. all i see are comments about JM being a bad muscician(i think i spelled that wrong). He is a great guitarists and an incredible singer. However, what he said was indeed racist and very rude and uncalled for. But then if you are going to not listen to his music or complain about it, then you should also restrain from listening to rappers who use the N-word on a daily basis. Besides, people have the right to set boundaries on what people can say to them.

i don't think anyone can comment on JM character unless you know him personally.. I have a friend that went to Berklee w him, and he said JM is a cool guy, but this is before he was famous. As far as the guitar playing, I feel JM is good for what he does.. but I don't know about being one of the best of our generation. You should try to research some other guitar players out there.. there are many that are better than him. ie. Scott henderson, mike landau, george benson, etc....!

The reason why African Americans are called black even though many of them are now brown is because black was their original colour before they were milked! Mariah Carey looks white but she could still produce a black/african child if she married a white man, the same with Alicia keys she can have african children if she slept with a white man so she is referred to as black

pfaaaa: how old are you? cos you are really ignorant, if you were properly educated you would understand that all people have African ancestors because the human race orignates from Africa and then branches of into mutations, oriental, caucasion etc, the chances that your most recent ancesters were african is very high eg spain was ruled by the moors who were Africans/Arab, that's why some spanish are quite dark, look at Italians some are white and some are dark, same for East Indians etc
