If there's nothing that you can use, you can even buy the materials that you need in a junk shop. With wind turbines, you generate your own electricity without any billed charges on your part which is great. Having your own wind turbines is really very advantageous.

In all actuality you would need both solar and wind to be totally self sufficient to live off the grid anyone can make a wind turbine by going to the auto parts store and buying a heavy duty alternator 100 amp if not more and with the right combination of drive pullies and a fan blade off a industrial size fan go to how stuff works.com and research who knowns whats around the corner we may all need to be off the grid just to get our contry back from the BIG GOVERNMENT that keeps growing and etc

Go to an auto junker and buy bulk auto alternator motors. Put small model airplane props on the shaft or make your own and balance them. Output to a decent DC regulator and then to a battery bank: done and for CHEAP!

You would get exactly what you paid for too - very little power if any, probably holding both wires with the thing running wouldnt even shock you, let alone charge a battery bank.

Very few places in the U.S. have enough wind to make this work. If you THINK you have enough wind, you probably don't. If you have STORIES you can tell about the wind at your house, you may have enough.

some companys are the only problem with it is wind is always blowing hard enough to make energy but it is a great idea to have two sources at ur desposal.if one isnt supplying the other will so they are a good additional soure but cant stand alone as effectivly as say burning coal.

Brilliant. It's good to see more and more people switching over to wind turbine power. Even home-made turbines can compete with larger commercial systems and anything that sticks a finger up to the robbing utility companies is okay in my book!

The real question is, why arnt the energy companys using these to make energy. we shouldnt have to. The general public buying these isnt worth buying, nor will it help the enviroment.
