john's hair looked good hair..he looked real well here as well...8-9 years later in 1979 he looked 25 years older...being a bi polar manic depressive who is a hermit and using loads of drugs and smoking 24/7..ages a person
@ChiroQuacker Wow, that's some Albert Goldman crap right there. lol! You have to read what all the other Beatles, Cynthia, George Martin, Yoko, and everyone who knew John personally had to say about that book before you believe verbatim every generalization said about this man. He wasn't perfect but he was FAR from all this. And I don't think he looked 25 years older in '80. I used to think he looked rather sickly, but there's tons of amazing pics that show otherwise. He looked great!
@ChiroQuacker You may have seen photo's of him back then but I've lived in NYC my whole life and I saw him in person many times around the Dakota during the late seventies until just before his death. There's NO WAY anyone could take him for a 50-55 year old man.He was certainly thin, possibly because by his own claim he was eating a mostly macro-biotic diet at the time.He was most definitely NOT a hermit, people would always see him walking around. You really don't know what you're talking about.
@ChiroQuacker That's laughable. So he was too vain to want those films shown, perhaps he looked tired from all the long recording sessions, there could be any number of reasons why he didn't want to put them out.You can go by your Jack Douglas quotes and I can go by the fact that I actually saw him back then, and to say he looked anywhere close to 55 is ludicrous. And your credibility is already destroyed by calling him a hermit,MANY people saw him walking around NYC with Yoko back then.
jagger said john was a recluse and mick lived a few blocks from john and he would call and call and never hear from him
during the recording of double fantasy yoko told the staff at the studio to never put paul mccartney's calls thru to john and eric clapton invited john to his wedding in 1979...paul george and ringo came and even jammed...john said he never received the invitation...gee i wonder who never gave it to him?
as for johns looks..you probably look like shit yourself
@ChiroQuacker Ah yes, insulting someones looks on the internet, the sort of scathing wit I would expect from the completely brain dead.Don't feel too bad there bud, there's still plenty you can do in life without intelligence.
As to your ridiculous points,I imagine the last thing Lennon wanted at that stage of his life is to go out partying with Jagger, though there is a video from 77 right here on Youtube with the 2 of them at the circus,so I guess they spent SOME time together,huh?...continued...
@ChiroQuacker As for Yoko not letting Paul's calls go through that's exactly the kind of tabloid pablum I'd expect someone of your limited abillities to try and peddle as fact. And not going to Claptons wedding? It was in England idiot, you expect him to fly all the way out there when he's got a 4 year old to take care of?!But more to the point,MANY New Yorkers(some very famous ones) saw him out and about all the time back then, that's an obvious fact that your imbecilic mind can't seem to grasp.
@ChiroQuacker Geez, that story is well-known and true (re: the film). Jack said he wasn't positive if it was destroyed, but that that was what John had told him. In any case, it is a well known fact in ALL Beatle circles that John Lennon was deeply insecure about his looks. He was over-concerned about his weight, he didn't like his nose, he hated his prominent forehead...I mean, you can see vids of him pushing his bangs down fervently all the time. He had self-esteem issues, not news.
@Fordham1969 From accounts I have read of people who met him around 1980, John was apparently in great form and looked terrific. In Jack Douglas' recent account in the "Starting Over" book he described John as looking "fantastic" and the other people in the band also said he was congenial, warm, sharp, outgoing, fun, brilliant, and him and Yoko had a natural partnership. He would tell her, "Yoko, that sucked" and she would say "f*** you very much John" but would do another take.
@ChiroQuacker I just think a lot of the claims about John's lifestyle can be quite dubious because the book that mainly all of them came from was a horrific character assassination that was created with the sole purpose of destroying the "myth" surrounding Lennon. The truth is somewhere in the middle. He was flawed, but he had become a new man in his last years. He was rather strictly macrobiotic and very thin. In 1980, I personally think he looked VERY thin but also quite handsome. JMO.
@carrywet On the contrary: Yoko came from a very wealthy Japanese family. She would have been wealthy with or without Lennon. Yoko wasn't in it for the money.
"Those chairs look a bit cheap, but maybe we can keep 'm for yóur office..."
McCartney is forever going to be the corny middleclass establishment Beatle and Lennon will always be remembered as the leftwing rock'n roll revolutionary. But the facts speak for themselves. Imagine no possessions? My ass. The rest of the film is even more revealing.
@xavierbaudet it sounds like he was getting this house for a film...at the end he said he needed it tomorrow for a film...I'm not arguing with you that he's a hypocrite, he is.
@xavierbaudet His money has nothing to do with his utopian ideas, he was rich becasue he was an ultratalented musician, but his roots were in the middle/lower class from Liverpool: "Working class hero".
@xavierbaudet i dont get it.do you expect him to live in a hut and ride around on a bicycle?the name of the song was imagine.he was not preaching for people to give up all they owned.come on.get in the ballgame.
No, I believe The Beatles were entitled to their millions because they were great. But Lennon lost himself in politics and statements in the '68-'72 period. He eventually cooled down and put out some decent stuff again. Walls & Bridges is a great album. Also his biggest commercial succes. But after he died and the hagiography began, Imagine became thé Lennon song. I think he would have been embarassed by it.
They should have left her there in the Japanese garden.

i dont need to read goldmans book..
i work in healthcare...most patients lie to us
i look at a patients skin, hair, eyes, face, nails, etc...i scrutinize these areas for the truth
i own a number of lennon photo books with photos from '79-'80...taken by bob gruen etc
and john...who is 39 and barely 40....a wealthy man...who didnt have to work a horrible job like most humans...john had zero financial stress
this john looked 10-15 years older then his age, look at mccartney in '79

i know what i am talking about...you dont know what you're talking about
the double fantasy recording sessions were "filmed"...
when john saw how he looked in the footage..he was so unhappy at his appearance that he destroyed the film/video
those are jack douglas's words...not mine...jack produced double fantasy....and in order to get his just do contracted royalties he had to SUE YOKO...
he won the court case, yoko had to pay jack 3 million dollars
lie to yourself not to ME
