I'd never heard this version before. My first reaction was "WTF, this is not very good," but then by a minute into the song I was singing along and tapping my feet like I always have to the more famous Classics IV version.
i loved the original. but diana with the supremes mary flo and cindy were always my favorite group. here you can hear diana mary and cindy. which is rare since they rarely recorded together save for with the tempts. so this is a rare to have cindy actually singing in the studio behind diana with mary.
this track can also be found on the Supremes Box Set (1999) that has the music of the group from 1960- 1976 including rarities and unreleased material
No, you are wrong. This is a Supremes track. Mary and Cindy are doing the background vocals. It's been proven. I don't know where you get your information from.
It wasn't their choice! Motown used the Andantes on all background vocals for the girl groups in the late 60's. Can't blame anyone but the powers that be at Motown. Don't blame the groups
Mary wanted a break and Berry gave it to her, yet warned she would miss the "Love Child" recording. Cindy Birdsong was in Detroit and wanted to be on the recording, but Berry didn't use her. As for using them less, they weren't using them as much before "Love Child" was recorded. That's how it was for all the girl-groups (especially the Marvelettes & Vandellas.) If anything, between 1967-1969, Mary & Cindy probably appeared on more recordings than the Marvelettes & Vandellas did on their own.

By this time, Diana's voice has lost that piercing tinniness, had a nice round Soprano sound to it.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This was a Diana Ross track, NOT a supremes track. It was 10000% Diana Ross. The Vandellas backed her up, but they are hardly noticeable.

proves mary and cindy should of been on someday and love child among others
Hello3691 2 years ago
they chose not to be there for those sessions...the biggest mistake of mary's life. agreed. they would have been great.

In mary's first book she clearly states that she and cindy chose not to be there for the sessions of love child...after that berry used them less.
