  • Is this a flick knife?

  • i own this knife. great blade that is decent at holding an edge over time. However, the biggest downside to this particular knife is that the switch-blade like deployment of the blade eventually leads to all the screws holding the body together coming loose over time. At first this was only a minor annoyance, as they can be tightened again. However, over time it became more and more of an issue until eventually the knife's entire frame was wobbly and loose after only using it a few times.

  • @jpm224 use some thread locking compound, fixed :)

  • Wow you sound so different now. XD

  • Getting mine tomorrow along with a para military 2. Can't wait lol good video brother

  • got mine in black today at a pawn for $19

  • 1607 isnt that the metal grade they use?

  • @italianbroker1

1670 is the model number, they used 14c28n steel in this knife :)

  • this guy seems like he is a realy cool guy

  • just got one today for 20.00 shipped!! sweet! good review buddy!

  • post a link where to get it

  • I love the accent. So good. Nice video.

  • to quote will smith from independence day....."I GOTTA GET ME WUNNA DESE!"

  • i also have a tun of knife reviews check out mine

  • "Made in USA. How often do you see that on product?"

If you would stop shopping at walmart you would see that more often.

If you want cheaper good, you can't buy union made products from socialist America. You have to source your good from respectful capitalist country like China where cheaper is better. This is how the free market work.

  • nice review. however, there's one correction I feel a need to make: you called it a liner lock, but it's actually what's called a "frame lock." they work the same way, so it doesn't really matter, but there is a difference, so I wanted to point that out.

for the people unaware, the difference between a framelock and a linerlock is that the linerlock has a piece of steel inside the handle that locks the blade in place, while in a framelock, the steel is part of the grip itself, as well.

  • @WHYvernmaster

Thank you, and you're right. This review is 4 years old, and I've learned a LOT sense then lol :)

  • @sherman614 "sense then?" don't you mean, "since" then? lol, I'm just bein' a snot, don't mind my nitpicking :)

  • Were did you buy that from?

  • @gsrgopedrider i've only one Kershaw, a Scallion but that one is perfect centered.

@sherman614 i think it's also bad that you need to loosen the pivot for better deployment. Whas it a blem perhaps?

  • How about the blade centering? Looks pretty bad on this one...

  • @weidmannsheil007

I had the pivot loosened to help with deployment. Blade centering depends on how tight or loose the pivot screw is.

  • @weidmannsheil007 that's one of my complaints with my kershaw knives, the blade centering is always poor.

  • @weidmannsheil007 mine is perfect. this knife also has copper bushings which is phenominal in comparison to most knife brands.

  • how would i fix my knife? the knife can open but the spring dose not kick in.

  • hey man nice video hopefully im gettin 1 of these tmorrow from my local shop thx

  • I had one of these knives. I loved it. It was headed towards being my favorite EDC knife. HOWEVER, mine went dull incredibly quickly, and the spring quit working. I had only had it for about 2 weeks. I don't know if I just got a lemon, or if I was too hard on it, or if it's just a bad knife. I might get another one just to see

  • andrew i herd a story bout you i hered your fat

  • I cant fins mine! :( neither can two of my buddies find theirs ... it's the disappearing knife... so be warned folks! it's a great knife just.... it will find somewhere to hide ... I'm only kidding trolls :)

    buy this knife!!!

  • I have been carrying a pocket knife with me since I was 8 when I got my first. I'm now 14, with a collection of about 40 and growing. So far, this is the best knife I've ever owned! I highly suggest that anyone who appreciates quality, American made knives add the Kershaw Leek to your collection.

  • like nutnfancy would say "theres no jimping"!

  • @wowmodblake Each knife handles differently & I serve food to homeless people in some dangerous neighborhoods. It was a gift that I hope that I never need to use. Based upon your ASSumption, you have little credibility, my dear. Your comment speaks volumes for itself, without my having to sink to your level.

  • @mindbodyheartansoul

This isn't an instructional video, this is a review. That's why the title is "Kershaw Leek knife review" Not "Instructions on how to use a knife" If you don;t know how to close a knife, I'd like to know why you're watching this video, just saying.

  • @mindbodyheartansoul 0:45 pushing the leaf spring to the left - thats the linerlock mechanism

  • you sound southern in this video but in newer ones you sound like not southern lol and your like a punk rock person lol (no offense)

  • @bladedweapons

Lol! Yeah, man. My accent was stronger when i was younger for some reason. No offense taken! I know i have a slight accent lol :)

  • @BuyASkateboard

No, it;s the model number. Like the the Scallion is the 1620, and has the same exact steel as the Leek. It's just the model number. Like the 530 Benchmade.

  • @sherman614 yea, i realized that after i posted the comment lol, but i was too lazy to remove it

  • 1660 is the model number

  • This is a great knife. I was lucky enough to find mine resting on a pump at a Gas station nearly 4 years ago and have been carrying it with me daily. I use it all the time from scraping gum off the bottom of my shoe to sharpening a pencil when sketching to opening packages. Its an assisted open knife, which means that erecting the blade to the open position is aided by a compressed sheet of metal in the hanle. The blade is 3 inches, and the entire knife is 7 when opened. Mine is serrated halfway

  • solid, solid review bro. you sold me.

  • Got it at cost through work and got a steal. Won't break the bank in a retail setting though either

  • I picked up one of these from work a few days ago as a daily use/utility knife. I couldn't be happier. I use it to cut open cardboard boxes/cases of ammo, snip random things, ect., and it is tremendously comfortable, easy to use, quick to deploy, and SHARP! my first "real" knife aside from random Swiss Army, Buck knives as a kid in Boy Scouts and at this rate I plan on other Ken Onion/Kershaw knives in the future. Can't beat it for the price. Paid next to nothing for mine (got it at cost throug

  • the leek looks really awesome, and I've only heard positive things about it. I still have to receive my overdrive2 (it'll be my first from kershaw), but there's a big chance this will be my next one :)

  • i love how every guy that does a knife review has a southern accent

  • @M1n1m31346

Cause in the South we have the freedom to carry blades, and collect them without having to made to feel bad.

  • @sherman614 Someone just got one-upped!

  • @sherman614 hell yeah i live in texas.

  • @sherman614 People don't make me feel bad.

In fact they don't give a crap.

  • @sherman614 how would you recommend for heavy duty use? cutting boxes rubber rope..etc after 3 years do you still carry and would recommend the leek? How is Kershaws warranty? I agree Made in USA hell yah!

freedom is not free but i'm paying my share. great review

  • @M1n1m31346 nutnfancy doesn't

  • @M1n1m31346 i love YOU

  • is it spring??? it looks like it

  • dude, wtf? u forgot one of the more important features....the reversible clip. notice the 2 blank holes on the butt end of the handle. they are so u can remove the clip and attach it the otherway around so its more prepared to flip open when remover from the pocket. i expected a quality reveiw at first, but this is pure, uneducated bullshit.

  • @maxw000

I made this video 3 years ago, want better reviews then watch my newer stuff. And also i get paid to do these reviews, so obviously I'm doing something right. Grow up.

  • @sherman614 If you get paid for your reviews, how can we expect your comments to be forthright and unbiased? Just curious.

  • @603Crawler

Because i don't get paid by any of these knife/gear companies, i get paid by Google. Google pays me to let them put ads in my videos as advertisement.

  • @sherman614 That's what I figured, but I had to ask...ya' just never know these days. Thanks for the reply.

  • @603Crawler

No problem. My reviews are no PS, i tell it exactly how it is, if i don;t like something i say it

  • @maxw000

If he forgot to mention that, then what the hell is he talking about at 1:17?

  • @maxw000 you're a fucking retard anyways, He DID say there was a tip up, tip down function for the pocket clip. STFU retard.

  • @maxw000 listen @ 1:18...

  • @maxw000 you're retarded, he said theres a reversible clip right at 1:17. and i'd hardly call that one of the most important features, you're just full of shit and trying to nitpick

  • @maxw000 actually he did... 1:15

  • @maxw000 he didnt forget it actually its at 1:16 shit head

  • @maxw000 you need tot pay more attention when you watch these videos, he slearly mentioned it when he was going over the safety.... watch it again..... :)

  • @maxw000 if you know all this stuff about the knife, why are you watching this review?

  • @maxw000 He says exactly that at 1:18. Please pay attention.

  • @maxw000 he went over that, talked about tip up or tip down carry. And you said "pure, uneducated bullshit?" you don't even have the attention span to watch the clip in it's entirety. nimrod

  • I like these.. Im either going to et this or a protect godson.. Jus trying to decide if the godson is worth the extra money it cost over this leek

  • i like how you keep saying "i really love this knife".....i paid $60 for it, and it's worth every penny. I looked at many, but this one felt so good in my hand.....this knife's for life!!

  • How many people have you used it to harm/kill someone?

  • @TheJulien44

None, I'm not a psycho/killer. I carry a knife as a tool, and god forbid if i ever have to use a knife as a weapon for self defence to maybe save my life or the life of a loved one, then I'll have it. And i hope you would do the same for someone you love.

  • lol "i don't know what grip this is but i like it"

  • 1660 is the grade of the steel

  • Comment removed

  • @hottsauce808 1660 is the model of the knife, (for instance mines 1660CKT) 16c26 Sandvic stainless, is the steel that's used in the knife.

  • @guitarherorawks20 ohh, haha, my bad.

  • Hey guys take a look at my funny knife review :) I review the LEEK CRK all black I love knife reviews just thought I would have some fun! Hope it makes some of you laugh!

  • i have a leek and i was holding it near a fridge and a one ounce magnet fell and hit the serrations and now if you look close they are very slightly dented.... are kershaws serrrations known to be dented easly

  • i got one in 2003, the tip just broke off

  • have you ever had to use a knife on someone like for self defense

  • Damn, springers are illegal in Louisiana. Idiot law-makers...

  • 1660 is the stainless steel

  • 1660 is the steel material i believe

  • I have the 1660 too. Great knife! I carry it everywhere I go.

  • have you edc-ed the kershaw leek?

  • got the knife my self very good knife love it. Good video

  • I like Kershaw knives a lot. They're affordable and good quality.

  • if a burly looking stranger came walking towards you with bad intent and you only had your leek to protect you would you feel confident with it>???

  • this knife is sharp as hell

  • I got one like that. It's actually a 1600 intead of the 1660. Only real diffrence is that it's about a half inch smaller and the print is right under the lock as opposed to it being on the blade. It's a real cool knife and I didn't even know you could open it like that. Thx for the video!

  • great knife, ive had mine now going on 8 years and have carried it pretty much constantly most of that time. after countless openings and closings, getting wet, dirty and all the other hells you can put a knife threw its still functions like new and only requires a good sharpening once in a while, the blade holds a good edge for a long time. this is my favorite knife and if it were to get lost id have to get another leek. as close to the perfect pocket knife as it gets imo.

  • @sherman614 do you think $50 is too much for the plain/basic version of the leek?

  • For all you people living in new york, i advise you to check out cutlerylover's video on speed assist. he basically explains how it works and how to disable it so it becomes a normal manual knife that is legal for you to carry.

  • its a new law EMS in soho just had to stop selling them:( damn NYC

  • @jdshayer do you have a video of the leek in I've never one with the g10 and s30v

  • I have two leeks this one and s30v in g10.

The 1660 leek I have is beat to hell but still works great.

  • my uncle has one

  • Thats a frame lock dumbass

  • lol saber grip, reverse grip, i dont know what kind of a grip this is, but i like it.

  • which do you like better this or the kershaw scallion

  • what sort of work do you think this knife could be used for?

  • could this knife be used for wood carving?

  • do you know if this knife is legal in the UK?

  • @knifeman126 i beilive that knives that lock in the open position are illegal to carry in uk

  • why do all the ken onions have safetys?? they're all pretty small knives.

  • di ur knife come with a sheath or littel poutch ??

  • were do u think i can get i for A good price ?

  • can it cut ur hair like a razor when it comes out of the box

  • is it hair cutting sharp out of the box

  • dose that have a spring in it to help open

  • @bender43718

It's not really a spring. It's a little metal rod called a torsion bar. And it flips the blade open =]

  • @sherman614

Hmm, cuz in New York City, where i live, Spring loadeds are illegal, but im not sure if the law says spring loaded, or assisted open, is that Torsion bar catagorized under assissted opening ?

  • @yoohoosk8r

Yes it is marketed and sold as an assisted opening. Sorry =[

  • @sherman614 Darn, and to think if i lived 10 minutes away i could own one... i live like right on the Border of NYC, but i can still buy one just never take it outside =P

  • @yoohoosk8r no i believe that spring assist is leagal in NY its either that or im a felon

  • @brieman2 In New York City it is illegal, do you live or did you buy it in NYC?

  • @yoohoosk8r No i live out on the island. But idk im not up to date on my laws but im sure that spring assist knifes are more common being legal than automatic knifes are legal.

    If that makes sense?...

  • @brieman2 idk, the island is very leniant. i live in queens ive been stopped by the cops for sitting in a park in the afternoon while eating lunch lol i have NYC

  • Nice knife. I just ordered one after seeing your review. :)

  • i have one of these...just got it in the mail the other day and oh boy...lets just say i havent stopped opening it and closing it...i love how sleek it is...

  • Most leeks are liner locks... strange that's a frame lock. That blade has major centering issues... nothing wrong with that it just looks bad aesthetically.

  • u got a little cut on ur thumb there :O

  • dude it's a frame lock, not a liner lock.

  • @sabr686

I know, i was a n00b then man, i made this 3 years ago lol

  • @sabr686

I know that now. This is a 3 year old video, i wasn't a partner at that point in time, and wasn't that knowledgeable about all my knives.

  • @kknopp01 Do you own a Leek? I'm just sayin'.

  • @sabr686 Yes. That's how I know what the packaging says.

    ps. Love the knife!

  • @kknopp01 I love it too. It's so classy, but at the same time it's all business at the pointy end. Definitely in my top 5 overall folding blades.

  • @sabr686 Awesome "bang for your buck." Not cheap as far as production knives go, but well made AND affordable, unlike like nicer customs. I got the black version.

  • @sabr686 The packaging actually does say "Liner Lock". Just saying.

  • im getting this knife, is it gud for carving or slicing things?

  • Yeah 1660 is the model number. My blade date is Jun 06. Love this knife!

  • Hey cool! D-day =]

  • Hey sherman614 I was wondering what you think about ordering knives across the border. I'm from Canada I was looking for a Benchmade Griptilian but I can only find them in the USA. Someone is selling a Kershaw Blackout and a Kershaw Cyclone in my area. What do you think I should look into.

  • Comment removed

  • @debello9655 Hey dude these knives are available in Canada----There's a great shop in the Toronto area --- very good prices --- good guys own the shop.

  • Can you really change the pocket clip to tip up carry?

  • liner lock? I thought that was a frame lock.

  • @RowanTolley02

It is a frame lock, i was a n00b back then lol

  • Great knife - thanks for the review.

  • is this assisted?

  • that looks like a frame lock to me.

  • It is, i made i mistake.

  • i have that one

  • I just bought a black Leek today along with a little Winchester 2.0 SA. the Leek is replacing my CRKT M16-10KZ. (I love index opeing knives) So far I'm in love with both, but I need to get use to using the thumb stud more.

  • Just got one as an early Bday gift from my boss, love this thing. I have the black version. Good for opening boxes and other things. great utility tool. dont know about defensive purposes though.

  • You have a nice boss!

  • I have this knife myself, I'm actually playing with it right now! I've had it for 2 years, very sharp sturdy as you say. I use it nearly every day, mine has a serrated edge though, that is the only difference and it flips open like its brand new. That being said its wont go bad soon or maybe at all. I suggest this to any person that loves a knife as a tool and every day purpose.

  • I got the same knife

  • Comment removed

  • I really have a problem with the way you pronounce Kershaw.

  • kershaw, IMHO, got have something better than that flipper. One rule of gun design is (try) not to have anything come out like that flipper, and for a knife, it's easy it scratches something and it opens when something is in your pocket. The consequence is a cut.

  • I've been carrying a Leek with me every day for 2 years now, and before then a few other knives with flippers. And i have never had one open in my pocket. The flipper is facing inward towards your body, i really don't see how it could catch on something. But i suppose it could happen =]

  • I bought my first leek in 2002.I carry it everyday as a habit. Not once has it came open in my pocket.

  • 1660 is the model number nice vid

  • lol @ "I don't know what grip this is, but I like it..."

  • tottally the kershaw because it is spring assisted, takes and edge and the paraframe is one of the cheapest gerbers there is and if you are dead set on a gerber choose the gerber fast draw

  • which would you recomend this knife or the paraframe from gerber

  • just got my very own kershaw leek 1660 ckt... ya kinda inspired me to get one thnks..... i fuckin love this knife
