  • Awesome!

  • 5:30 - 5:35 planet of the apes!

  • This would be a huge step in technology, the day we can genetically engineer humans is the day we take a step forward in our evolution. The only people that think this is wrong, are the type of sad bastards that are stupid enough to believe in religion and think cutting down trees hurts the world, seriously, only good can come from this.

  • Have you ever wondered why we have big brains, or why we walk on two legs? Its because our ancestors passed down the genes for those favorable traits through sexual selection, which we have done for millenia, and what we are still doing today. Genetic engineering would only be an advanced version of that process, just as HD replaced black and white film. This is the inevitable path of progress, therefore, the only question worth asking is: will we know how to wisely take full advantage of this?

  • What is wrong with his eye at 8:48 , is he a genetically modified human being ? :O

  • GOD is still on HIS Throne...and HE still is the BIG BOSS.

He will close the curtain of TIME one Day...and WOE to those who created WOW babies! Oy.

It's an age-old story to become gods. Scientology.

  • This shit is scary son!!!

  • this is real life not the sim!!! but i do get why this can be so beneficial =(

  • I'm a strong proponent of genetic engineering, particularly in food, but I too am afraid of the scenario drawn out at 7:06, these "designer babies" will likely only be created by the upper class, giving them an even greater advantage over the lower class, and possibly leading to racism towards those without genetic engineering. These modifications can certainly improve our species, but not if only the rich have them.

  • some people might find it a disturbing idea but people shudnt judge a concept on how it sounds. just go with what is for the better good and this maybe for the better good as it could overcome disease, there is no point in passing on genes that will kill people.

  • @deanmullen10

Giving someone the power to permanently alter the genes of any animal, including humans, arms those who would abuse this power with greater power.

The very concept of "creating an animal with your favourite traits" is probably the height of hubris and essentially a hatred of your fellow animals. Who are we as a people to barge into the natural world and manipulate everything on such a total level that we would essentially become gods?

How could you defend this kind of idea?

  • @LtSurge659 I will only defend if it is for the better good, if it is not then I wont but if it is then I would. I dont know if I support it yet, we will be more conscious of the concept within 20 years lets say.

  • someone knows how i can download this video?

  • I see your point. I don't like this at all, but I totally see your point, and I was thinking the same exact thing.

  • Parents who do this don't believe you'll grow up to be beautiful / handsome. Your parents should love you for who you r not for how you look

  • We Find this mean and stupid. We r who we r! Don't mess with nature. We r born this way! It doesn't matter what you look like! just matters who you are.

*Thumbs up if you agree & respect yourself & nature*

  • this is ridiculous! it shouldnt be allowed :/

  • 5:38 he gets so happy lol he must like monkeys

  • What happens in years and years down the track when this becomes so commonly used that barley any person is not scientifically created. Then everyone will be 'perfect' and society will run out of individuality. If we are all geniuses then who will do the middle rate jobs in society…honestly we can't all be scientists. There comes a point were the embryo will be changed so much that there is no tie to its family.

  • @08amt you should watch this movie called "gattiga" its based on the idea of "designer babies"

  • @08amt well robots could do the lower grade jobs, by tht time technology will surly be that advanced

  • why dont they give us the researcher's names, job, etc etc

  • The people who live in this world are already different genetically. Making someone more handsome or more intelligent will make us the changers of evolution. What we think it should be may be not exactly the best way to go...thats why it has to occur by natural selection. How many times you thought you were right when in fact you were not? Let the nature lead us for a few more decades, i think we still have a lot to learn.

  • @maristonrox We are natural. Is this really any different from any other form of natural selection?

  • @01000001011100100111 Yes, we are natural when you consider genetic changes (if someone hasnt changed anyone genetically and put it in our society without our knowledge). Being different genetically is considered natural, it it wasnt we would be all the same in every aspect. We are becoming the changers of the natural word, changing the food we eat (genetically ot not), chickens (hamburgers, chicken, etc). Wouldnt this change us genetically too with the passing of the time? Well i dont know.

  • I knew that Planet of the Apes, could happen, its all think to this invention. Dr Lee Silver, creates the new superape race, to take over the human race, and we all become destine to servitude to the apes.

  • @KevZen2000 to be fair humans are apes.

  • @TheHumanUnity No, we are not.

  • they need to stop this. super smart chimps have they ever seen PLANET OF THE APES they doomed us all

  • this sucks

  • Like I seen in another video, this "Designer Baby" idea is brilliant to a certain extent. Removing diseases and illnesses from the face of this world would be extraordinary, but to remove beauty/difference from this planet will be more devastating then the diseases that would be extinguished. Sure you can make babies better/stronger/smarter, but only to a certain extent. See this designer baby idea can only duplicate genes that were taken from another human which gives no room for evolution.

  • I hope that 1% difference between us and chimpanzees protects us from this monstrosity.

  • @omgnotreally Totally agree!

  • The problem is not who will inherit the earth but what they will do with it? Injecting intelligence into the sociatal elite genepool may be exactly what the world needs. Maybe then they will redirect the human race away from a system that grossly values the need for wealth over the sustainability of the very source of all our lives, PLANET EARTH. That would truley be a scientific breakthrough! Hurry up!

  • it is obvious that humans hate themselves!

...then why would you change yourself like that?!

  • disliking the way you look is like ... disliking your job and wishing you made more money and had a better career...nothing wrong with that...some people will work harder and get a better job/career and promotions. others will be lazy or lack the drive to make themselves better. of course, when it comes to looks, there's nothing we can do yet to improve ourselves but that doesn't mean it's impossible. genetics holds the key to our elevation...

  • the man or group of scientists who create the ability to make everyone handsome/beautiful not only deserves a Nobel in science but also a Novel in Peace.

  • @dalecampbl9 you probably don't look good to have said that.

  • nope, I'm not handsome and I suffer its consequences or, rather, I endure its consequences...we all know it's true...it's all about looks, so let's try to solve that problem instead of pretending the problem or issues aren't there...that's all I'm saying or trying to espouse, truth and not hypocrisy

  • we have solved the problem of food and now we're all fat asses (at least in USA), we've solved the problem of shelter with mechanical and civic engineering...but we have yet to solve the problems and matters of the heart. love and lust are two things that are consistently deprived from most men because, let's face it, all hot woman want all the alpha males and there just ain't enough of them to go around. next step in human progress is to genetically enhance everyone into handsome/beautiful

  • 5:50 reminds me of the book animal farm. xD

  • @mwowner12 this is 2010 get out of hear with that crap

  • well it will probley end up in a conflict between geneticley perfect humans and regular humans and who will dominat ...... but in my eyes everyone is perfect once thier born an thier is no reason to do this .............but ill remain netrual if a war breaks out id keep a low profile and wait till it is over and try to live in a geneticly modified world

  • I love this stuff. It's so interesting how drastically we can change our gene pool as advances are made. It might be possible to completely phase out degenerative diseases.

  • hmmm...super smart, super athletic, super good looking, super long life...yeah sounds horrible to me. LOL And who could forget the genetically modified Chimp assistant?LOL

  • The more man takes away from God, the more God could possibly take away from man.

  • @gunman806 As with all technologies, affordability will improve as time progresses. Amniocentesis is covered by most major insurance providers as things stand, and the possibility of introducing consumer or producer-side subsidies to ensure that major disparities in the use of screening procedures and germ-line engineering don't occur is perfectly viable. If one were to restrict these technologies for fear of such disparities, one would effectively limit access to the moneyed.

  • @FortitudeOfHeaven when were all perfect no one is.

  • Society has always demanded perfection throughout history. To be the brightest. To be the most beautiful. The strongest. The most athletic. The tallest. The flawless. The healthiest. Societies don't change and neither do people. We all value these traits but it is because that we value them so much it has created so much suffering for those who lack these traits. Unless people learn to accept imperfection, why don't we just move to a post-human civilization where everyone can be perfect?

  • these mice are super mice ..beware other they will discriminate you .

genoism is already taking place in the mice community ..haha

  • now kids wont be able to tell their parents "I'll never be what you want!"

  • this will be the beginning of the end !! Technology is not always progression.. and they have been messing around with genomes and dna since the beginning of time...! in fact all humans here are genetically manipulated already and what a race of spiritually inept, brain dead, apathetic retard slaves they produced..! when are people going to wake up to the fact they've been lied to about everything their whole lives....

  • i can tell he got really excited when he said a a chimp could have equal or greater than human intellegence. @5:36

  • 200 embyos = 200 babies if you only pick 1 thats 199 dead babies...

  • If it's not mandatory then there's no moral problem.

  • "In the year 6565,

ain`t gonna need no husband won`t need no wife,

you`ll pick your son, pick your daughter too,

from the bottom of a long glass tube..."

  • @JakePelka

Human species is going to be extinct by the year 6565..

  • 4:15

  • I dont think its such a bad idea if our society was better than it is now, having people that are smarter, better looking and less prone to disease isnt a bad thing but because we have such a rift between the haves and the have nots and religion being such a problem that it is, this is just a bad idea, maybe if we had a society like the one on "star trek" and where people work towards a greater good but that not the way it is, people are greedy, racist and stupid and thats why it wont work.

  • Hey

I'm mexican and white, and both my parents have light blue/green eyes. I got them brown. Please, keep in mind that our first ancestor was a black african, that is why we all belong to the same race, human race, homo sapiens sapiens. I think the estethics should be left for parents free decision making. Yes, I'm a liberal in the good sence of the word, liberty is the very best characteristic in humans.

  • Genetic Engineering should be allowed but only if it is cheap 100% safe and is available to everyone including The poor...

  • @NinjaChampionKO

    Cheap is a relative term.

To me, a 2 dollar bag of chips is cheap; to someone living on a dollar a day, it's terribly expensive.

100% safe? That's nonsense. Nothing is 100% safe.

Available to everyone? Where do you think this is? Utopia?

Come on bro, open your eyes to reality.

  • i just want 2012 to happen because i want change in the world...

  • pretty sick

  • This desire for "perfection' just shows the level of human imperfection!

This is the human's curse, to be unsatisfied with their own level of nature

  • Government - I don't even want to talk about American Government. Because it disgusts me very much. Government should know by now how many Chinese, Indians or Mexicans and all the other "good for nothing" comparing with the white race. Send them back to their country and preserve the white race intact. If we keep mixing and letting them coming at this rate, say goodbye to blue and green eyes in the future. Brown is always dominant.

  • thats not entirely true-there are mutations and differentiations between parent and offspring

  • I am a student at Oxford third year. I also have personal opinions like the wish for 2012, for something new. However I wish I could tell you what we developing in our labs, but we both know it wont happen. Don't judge me by my English, Canadians like to judge to much. It's not my first language. I study in French language. I also speak Norwegian and Swedish. I'd like to see your Norwegian level. Canadians learn nothing in schools, come in Europe and you will see the difference.

  • This video brings up a few excellent points..

the scenario they mentioned where the rich would have these disease-free little children & the poor would be the only ones with the diseases & whether or not the gov't (ie, the rich) would care is truly frightening.. something as major as genetic modification should be available to all, or none.. otherwise, like they said, we could end up with two different human species.. not a good thing D: .. a very, very BAD thing :l

  • Nonsense. Motorcars, airplane travel, computers and cellphones were all once prohibitively expensive, however thanks to market forces, increased automation and procedural improvements, these things are available to almost everyone within developed countries. Without government interference, the same trend will apply to designer babies. With government restrictions, the masses won't even have a chance.

  • Based on my previous comment and that I study Genetic Engineering I am a human being to and I have my personal point of view. I hope 2012 come and that Maya's calendar was right. Entering a New Era a New Begging. Cause the more we advance the more we get crazy, and I dont want to thing about 100-200 yrs from now. Thanks god I wont be able to see it..

  • Here is the thing. I study Genetic Engineering and Medical Science - Oxford. We can mutate the DNA, so he baby gets blue eyes. I think it will take another 20 yrs before we discover how to mutate to get GREEN EYES, its a lot more complicate. I discretely disagree with these procedures. People like me, always want to discover new things, so it's hard to stop.

  • 20 years? I find it hard to believe that you're a student of Oxford. Do you recall what the early predictions were for the completion of the Human Genome Project? It's important to factor in the exponential rate of knowledge generation and technology when forming predictions.

  • Yes 20 years and my Professor agrees to. It's possible to mutate the gene for the baby to get blue eyes. It's been done before. Green eyes mutation is a lot more complicate because biologically green in eyes is not even a color, you have no idea what this means. Even if I try to explain here you won't understand a thing. Beside Green eyes mutation occured in humans way after the first blue mutation appeared approx. - 9000 yrs ago in South Eastern Europe.

  • I'm not judging you by your English, I'm judging you by your hypothesis. The idea that it will take 20 years to understand the genetics behind something as simple as a "green" iris is absurd, especially when one considers the rate at which our knowledge of genetics and molecular biology is expanding. OCA2 and a number of other genes are involved in determining eye colour, and it probably won't take much longer until we develop a comprehensive understanding of the underlying genetic dynamic.

  • It's movies like this that send the sheeple into fear and slow down progress. I want genetic engineering to take off as soon as possible. There are so many things I would change about my genetics!

  • How profoundly sick and selfish society we must be when we have science funding for promoting the consumer idea in that it's important to "design" human babies and their eye color than it is to solve dire problems like growing crops in the desert for the 1 billion brown-eyed babies starving daily. Where is our logic, practicality and humanity? Are we really this sick?

    Insane apathy.

  • We could make Spartans by using this technology.

  • @nukeum2

I can't even describe the level of ignorant stupidity that this comment hemorrhages.

  • this might remove racism

  • Creating artificial chromosomes might become a reality, as the Nanotechnology advances. Manipulations at a molecular level.

  • so there going to lock up hairy humans and were going to think there animals, i wonder how many smart ape's we will have in the future and will they work for us, or will they take over, PLANET OF THE APES i say

  • what is perfect? perfection is only in the eye of the beholder!

  • I reckon that choosing a baby for their qualities is low. i know deaf people and its such an experience for all of us. Sooner or later everyone will be perfect then nothing will define right from wrong. everyone will be the same, and whats interesting in that?

if this kinda appeals to you- watch the movie gattaca. its good and it relates to this as well :)

  • Not to mention this is how you lose your culture after few generations of mixing babies.

  • im guessing this was sparked by wen they did transplants. Mainly heart transplants. Patience who got heart transplants from donors would start to mimick the original owner of the hearts behaviours. Eg if the paitient never liked sports all there lives, after the transplant they couldnt stop playing sports etc Due to genetic mixing hehe.

  • this is going to happen no matter what ppl say this is the future u cant stop it ppl who aer against yhis will be a minority 20 years from now

  • The only predictable outcome will be that those who choose to genetically engineer their children will be the ones who can afford to. Get enough rich people to do so and over time these genes could gradually become passed on. Now we not only have a rift between the rich and poor but a rift between two different species, superior and inferior. Progress is inevitable but don't we have an ethical responsibility to use science and medicine to benefit ALL and not only a few with enough $ pay for it?

  • People who may had not been born if science had decrypted the human DNA sooner: Abraham Lincoln (Marfan's Syndrome), Emily Dickinson (Manic Depression), Vincent van Gogh (Epilepsy), Albert Einstein (Dyslexia), John F. Kennedy (Addison's Disease), Rita Hayworth (Alzheimer's Disease), Ray Charles (Primary Glaucoma), Stephen Hawking (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), and Jackie Joyner-Kersee (Asthma). "Of course, the other birth that may never have taken place is your own."

  • A great juxtaposition argument. We only think of the holdbacks, not the talent that can come out of the human condition when certain challenges are presented to us.

  • @jayflo92008 Yep, we'll no longer have great minds if we get rid of genetic disorders to impair them. Makes perfect sense. Could Stephen Hawking have discovered Hawking Radiation if he weren't dying of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis? Could any of the people you mentioned have done any of the things they did if they weren't dying of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis? I doubt it.

  • @Olucatei but the people they could create (possibly), could build on this tenfold - imagine if hawking was'nt disabled. This could improve the EQ of the children as well as IQ, physical traits for a good looking population - nobody wants to be ugly do they?

  • Comment removed

  • @jayflo92008 But better people will replace them, and make them look pathetic.

  • @jayflo92008 You're just appealing to our emotions - and our fear of the unknown. How about we make a list of the people we could have had instead of these people: Abraham Lincoln with increased intelligence, Einstein... but smarter... etc. Or how about Stephen Hawking - exactly the same - yet without his disease! Just because you gamble and win a few times doesn't mean should gamble rather than winning EVERY time!

  • Comment removed

  • @jayflo92008 Hitler had parkinsons

  • @jayflo92008 That's slightly misleading, as doesn't (and can't) take into account the people who might have been born instead, or because, of such advances.

  • Sounds like Huxley's 1982 Orwellian Movie, "Brave New World"....INSANE...

  • My baby will be 10 feet high and 450lbs of pure muscle. He will have an IQ of 200.

  • ...When he grows up...

  • my babys brain will be so big it wouldent be able to walk its brother will have an iq of 10 and do all the work fo me and carry around his brother

  • Those who think that people have 'inferior' genes, never think that they themselves have 'inferior' genes.

  • Genetic engineering might be beneficial in ways such as preimplantation genetic diagnosis to prevent the next genration from inheriting genetic diseases. I disagree with modifiaction to enhace human ability and attractiveness. Psalm 139:14a - "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful" God created each indivdual and loves them deeply. He doesn't make mistakes. Even children with genetic "flaws" such a downsyndrome are AWESOME and such a blessing!

  • its not "AWESOME and such a blessing!" its simply a test.. to see how people act in difficult conditions

  • hahahah wow. Instead of bettering society u think we should all just be fuckin idiots n follow some old dumb book that has been completely discredited

  • This world has gone MAD!!!

WOW every sci fi cartoon had predicted this years before!!!

  • how could they do that? no one would be their own person! everyone would be skinny, smart, and pretty. i understand using this for preventing disease, but appearance, smart, etc. WTF.

  • So you have a problem with a world filled with skinny, smart and pretty people?

  • uh yeah? thats like another holocaust. everyone will look the same and be the same and people who arent will be judged and treated badly.

  • it wouldent really be like a another holocaust because its not the extremination of a race its more like peoples geans being altered to make them better and in case you dident notice the holocaust dident really work, people are mostly the same any way in case you haven't noticed the only thing that really defines a person is their personality, not weather they are pretty and skinny.and maybe if their were more smart people their would be less wars and more medical break through's or mabe not

  • hay dip shit ... when different people make babies they are a mix of both so .. the human race is slowly becoming all the same.. go suck on my e-cock

  • would rather not have children anyways.. have to born in a crazed world.

  • Awesome the master can be brought upon earth. Ja!!!

  • Comment removed

  • not only would it create and even bigger rift between the social classes, but also between the "super" humans and the regular ones. There's bound to be discrimination towards the normal humans. For example, the boss has two job applications, one is just a regular joe and the other is a modified super human, which one would you give the job too?

This will inevitably lead to conflict.

But hell, I dont care about the morals.

I'm still going to become a genetic engineer.

  • @BrunoACabrera But those problems occur without genetic engineering. Today employers choose the more qualified person, it isn't exactly new or scary. Should we ban people with better genetics for having unfair advantages? Given how most people think though, it wouldn't be the normal humans who would be discriminated against.

  • @BrunoACabrera if it was employed for every child on earth their would still be inequality for some time. Wouldn't you want to be a super human though, to be able to understand things better, greater insight, less chance of a cursed life plagued by a disability, maybe their would be greater equality if intelligent poeple realised the stupidity of war and globalisation & technology. also designer babies is basically beginning, for example chinese families usually abort a pregnancy when its a girl

  • @BrunoACabrera what do you mean super humans?

  • bring one the bio freaks

  • the beginning of teenage mutant turtles, fairies, angels and memaids, using selective altered animal and human genees, you can have a dolphin tail, and fins complete with docral fin and feathery wings from birds, I started taking 1 iron tablet a day with prenatals with baby no 2 he was 50 and a half cm and 7 poudn 4 ounces at birth and 2 iron tabelts a day with prenatals with baby no 3 and she was 7 poudns 13 ounces and 52cm.

  • this is how cat fish were made and haunted teddy bears, put the teddy bear gene in with a human gene and bingo a tedman. I would love a pupman baby a cute welsh prembroke corgi mix with a human rofl.

  • wow do guys here what your talking about.. this is insane.. what is life coming too.. the basic line will come too, the rich will unbelievebly rich and the poor will not just become more poor but will become RUTHLESS.. this is a bad idea, it will cause a bad epedemic, i cant even think of the outcome, and i couldnt think of the outcome if chimps crossbreed with humans to be 100% perfected.. WHAT IF BIG FOOT is REAL and that already happen and NO1 CAN FIND HIM BEAUSE HE THINKS LIKE A HUMAN..scary

  • Iam not saying that we should encourage genetic engineering as I feel that he is right in thinking about the difference in social class would come about, but everyday the human race comes one step closer to destroying itself, war, weapons, global warming, slavery, corruption, torture, etc.

We also play the role of god everyday by keeping people alive on machines and medicine. We have already taken a fair few steps into changing the human race, so why not help ourselves and take one more step.

  • Speaking of fair, how fair is it to completely determine the characterisitics of a child? Choosing their appearance and personality can lead to huge social disadvantages, will they truly feel like an individual, or just something crafted by their parents? Genetic modification doesn't allow for any individuality and will just lead to a race of supremacists.

  • Once we start using the technology to create designer babies there is really no going back. Even the parents who don't wish to genetically modify their children will eventually have to in order to ensure that their child doesn't fall behind or fail in society. Is this fair?

  • But what about the need for better medication in today's world? How can you put limitations on something like a cure for cancer. If babies could be born without birth defects that would be the work of a God, not Hitler. It's not superhuman to attain health

  • Like the video says, it's inevitable that genes won't only be chosen for health in the future. The day genetic modification becomes available to everyone is the day that every parent is going to want their kid to be the greatest athlete or the smartest student. Therefore, creating an all out superhuman race that can be looked at in evolutionary respects, however I look at it as a human filtering system. To create the superior race by correcting genes? Sounds like Hitler's method to me

  • risks are far too great??

    killing human eggs are risky?

women do this every month, not killing but discarding.

and designer babies should be outlawed

if every parent wanted that perfect child then soon the new generation will take over with their extended health, life, beauty, intelligence, and everything. messing with human DNA is not a good idea

  • You are stupid shut the fuck up

  • First you sead ``if every parent wanted that perfect child then soon the new generation will take over with their extended health, life, beauty, intelligence, and everything`` (what`s not so good in that).

And then ``messing with human DNA is not a good idea ``

    SO WTF ?

  • The problem is with the ``beauty`` part. It saunds like Hitler.

  • do you hear yourself?

whats not so good in that? well first of all, when those guys reach 19, their hightened intelligence will allow them to graduate faster, and then soon they'd be able to do our jobs better, meaning we're out of the job. meaning when we turn around 30-40, we'd all be jobless because these new "super humans" with their intelligence will be able to do our jobs better and we'd be broke.

  • also, only the rich can have this, so the poor will get poorer and the rich richer. whats wrong with this? well the poor people are the laborers, they work in assebly lines and tend the fields. the rich are too arrogant to do these things. if the poor people drop out becuase they're too poor. no one will be there to do all the "dirty work". no one will be a janitor, a nanny, a cleaner. there will only be rich lawyers, doctors, and other high intellect people will not be able to make foods/cloths

  • Please. We'll just engineer "workers" to do our work for us.

  • for the richer people who has a company that needs workers

poor people dont need or can afford workers, remember?

all anyone can think about is how to make it better for the rich, technology, better things better homes. but this is everything that the poor cant afford. and so, like i said, the poor are going to get poorer and the rich richer

  • O_o

  • Genetic modification of babies makes sense when a diseases is eliminated from the world but there have been serious consequences to the animals that genetic modification has been tested on. Many test animals are not alive at birth and a large portion of the ones that do live suffer from developmental abnormalities. The test animals are an indicator of what could happen to human babies if they are genetically modified at this point in time.

  • we could genetically engineer tiny docile pandas to keep as pets.

  • Combine speed dating with genetic screening That way there is wider gamete choice plus romance

speed date online or live with a prechosen party group with the purposed idea that if there were children as a result of dating they would be particularly kind happy clever beautiful calm people

Which is beneficial as half or more of couples divorce creating stress It is possible that children with prearranged genomes may resist turbulent environments to become wonderful people anyway

  • I think it's wonderful! It stands for disease eradication. No deformities, birth defects, retardation. Think of the money saved on healthcare! When you pick out a $30-$50,000 automobile, do you not get what you want? What's the diffrence? Try my shoes on awhile. I have had MS for 12 years. I have been in a wheelchair for the last 5 of these years. Would I not choose this procedure to assure my child would never suffer from this? A no brainer man, a no brainer indeed.

  • You need to stop believing what they tell you! Its a lie that "It stands for disease eradication. No deformities, birth defects, retardation" just like the words "change" "hope"

  • You need to lighten up and realize it's going to happen in a big way and in great numbers no matter how much you piss and moan. Of course there are good and bad about it. The good outweigh the bad? I guess that depends what side of the fence you stand on. As I said, a no brainer for me anyway. As the cripple that I am, I refuse to have children because I very well could pass down my defects. I support this research in everyway.

  • You need to realize there is no good, its a lie!

  • Your opinion is noted and respected.

  • i feel disgusted like this isnt regular like it belongs on...the twilight zone or ..................x files dont trust them america

  • that type of shit makes me feel ... nervous ...i dont trust this....it just................doesnt ..............feel RIGHT!

like you're supposed to get ......in trouble or something ugh

  • In the socialist mineset, eveything is a win-lose situation.

Life is not a zero sum game. This technology would be overwhelming good for mankind.

  • This is very concerning for society as a whole. I feel like it's a Catch-22, with no way to avoid its impending arrival, but dire consequences when the process comes to fruition.

  • I wonder if there will be one of these about synthetic biology too.

  • These poeple are fucking sick. Why would people want to play God? Right now they are throwing away perfectly good embryos because they are not exactly what they desire.

  • Thats some advanced shit right there

  • AIIIIIIIIOYH

  • how old is this?

  • this is boring like hell!

  • im all for technology but when will people learn that we are not above the other animals. I think that its not fair to experiment on animals and not humans. poor chimps....

  • 1:33

That's right! Who's going to be the winner later in life?! Me suckers! I got the super baby legs gene!

    7:10

Baby starting to cry in sync with what the narrator was saying made me chuckle for it's heavy handedness.

    8:40

I disagree with what he's saying as being any kind of realistic obstacle; if science can can create it and people are working toward it, we will succeed eventually. The "will" of the people is moot, even a large majority.

  • Humans have so many faults on a genetic level, that it would be inhuman to not try to remove them.

Seems to me that religious groups actually want children to be born with horrible diseases that they inherit in their genetic code or develop in the womb. One would think parents to wish their child the longest possible lifespan and a life without a diabetes, anemia, down's, cystic fibrosis, huntington's, polydactyly, alzheimer's, cancer, werner's, turner's, cardiac illnesses, leukemia + + +

  • I would find it harder to believe that genetic modification and complete cloning of humans are not already taking place.

I support genetic research for curing diseases as its already helped with Diabetes, AIDS, Parkinsons, cancers etc.

However, the fine line between what is ethical and horribly corrupt has become far too easy to cross, so much so that Homo sapiens are better off batteling our immperfections and illnessess in a more natural way.

Still, Cloning's harmful only when it is in mass

  • we can do all this stuff threw shifting our consiousness not coersive, meglamanialcal playing god ,eugenics .. hitler lives on in people like lee silver, and quit fucking with mice!

  • Hitler would be delighted.

  • Exactly! The master race. Whats not to love?

Unless you happen to not be one of the elite and are merely relegated to sub-human status.

  • okkkkk

  • yeah but what channel lol

i was just wondering because i'm doing some science coursework on designer babies lol

  • I don't know -- I never saw it in England.

  • what channel was this on??
