The main reason why the Soviets were so much better than the Germans was because they won, Germany lost and your numbers come from the pages of Mother Goose's History of WWII. Russia sustained 10,400,000 military deaths versus Germany's 5,000,000. Russian civilian deaths were 11,000,000 so Russia lost 21+ mil in total.About half the Russian military losses were due to "German hospitality" such as shooting or starving POWs. The Soviets did that indeed. But only after USA and Great Britain had sent them thousands of tons of military hardware via Artic Convoys.
This proves two things:1) Without that hardware, USSR was doomed. 2) You couldnt make your way to Berlin even when you had only 20% of Germany's army to comfront...
