Rajini is a great star but in terms of acting, I wouldn't say he's that great. He delivers a good performance as expected but he has been a very commercial type of hero - Kamal on the other hand as proven he can take any role. Even if the movies sucked, his acting made it great, like Dasavatharam, Avai Shamugi, Virumaandi etc.

He should be appreciated for taking efforts in giving different subjects, but with graphics and masks taking most of the credits...doing such multiple roles is quite easy these days, as you have technology available with you. "Navaraathiri" - the roles enacted by late Sivaji Ganesan, was far far superior and all 9 roles will stand in our heart. Dasavatharam, only Naidu role stays.

Everything you said about technology is right, but that doesn' t make it any easier. In fact Dasavatharam was just physically more challenging for Kamal. Look at his long career and you'll notice that there are way more characters that are loved, embraced and worshipped. If your going to call Sivaji Ganesan better, than ok, but fact is KAMAL IS THE BEST ARTIST OF ALL INDIA!!

Hey I have seen all but one in the list. I am not saying that lal cant act. But he is nowhere near the great universal hero. Kamal is multifaceted and lal is ofcourse not. He can act like chaplin, oldman, communist with facial injuries and tics(anbe sivam), old lady, George Bush, Eelam tamil with PTSD(thenali), and what not.. all with complete perfection..
