what's the best way to lose a belly and lose weight fast? (if you're willing to give 5-6 hours a day) is it circuits?intervals?will you lose weight faster if you do 2 hours of intevals?
I use many different methods to work out, but, HIIT has to be the most effective for me. I have a hereditary neurological disorder that effects my periphiral nervous system, if I work out every day it just makes my weaker. With the HIIT workout, I train 2-3 times a week for 10-30minutes and definitely see gains in strength, endurance and body composition, and it gives my body time to recover. The biggest benefit for me is I can really challenge myself each time I train, a challenge makes it fun.
Lisagirl these are very interesting points you are making, I have even heard that if you walk on a treadmill to a certain heart rate rather than you burn muscle you burn fat.....so are you saying that HIIT training is not good?? and are you saying walking is much better??
@JAYFARRELL31 Well I'm not a physical doctor, but doing HIIT is somewhat good, you burn about triple or so of regular exercise but some say you should only do about 10 minutes to 30 minutes because you'll also burn muscle so I guess in a way it's up to you, if you want to also be burning muscle, I know for guys we shouldn't but if your serious about losing fat then HIIT is way to go.
dude, you should only do 10 minutes of HIIT. Do one minute of running, then one minute of walking. Repeat this 5 times, and increase your speed each interval. I'm not a fitness expert or anything, I'm just telling you what some of the most physically fit and healthy people on the planet have told me.
It really depends on intensity level. For what I did in this video, the intensity wasn't that high. For the 90-100% intensity you really should limit duration as you say.
For higher intensity check out Tabata work outs. I have a recent video on Tabata (push ups) which takes the high intensity level to 100% and takes just 4 minutes to complete, rests included.
So if this same 250 pound man ran 3 miles every single day for a month (which is not healthful even) he would burn 14.160 calories by the end of the month, roughly 4 measly pounds
ALOT of work for so little. Calorie deficit through DIET reigns supreme
Exercise is mainly for health maintenance , hormonal tone and still essential but for fat loss vastly over rated.
This being said I AM in favor of some sprints for hormones and cardio fitness
If sprinting exhausts you for the rest of the day where you rest (therefore limiting calorie expenditure) OR makes you ravenously hungry later on it is no good.
This is the downside, that plus the low caloric expenditure.
Why don't you post links or videos on your channel of the studies you are citing?
My experience doing HIIT in March is that I lost 18 pounds, actually more, because I added some muscle from weight training. It worked for me and I've seen it work for others.
Armstrong and Phelps did not achieve greatness from duration alone. In both case their ability to take the intensity level to extraordinary levels in their workouts made the difference. Both go well into the pain zone and are willing to go deeper and return more often. Both do intervals. High Intensity intervals.
The problem is intervals don't burn many calories. It 's a myth that your metabolism is great for hours after, EPOC amounts to next to nothing. Lyle McDonlad discusses the intervals are better fallacy.
90 % of fat loss is about DIET, not anaerobic, or aerobic training or weightlifting
I agree that diet is number one and I will be posting a video about that soon. However, intense workouts burn calories and fat. I lost 18 pounds in March by eating clean and working out 30 out of 31 days.
It's well documented that Michael Phelps was able to stay lean and in top shape WHILE CONSUMING 12,000 CALORIES A DAY. How? Highly intense and extended workouts.
"Fully recovered" means that your heart rate and breathing should be back down to a comfortable level, before going fast again. It takes a bit of practice to know to know when you are good to go again.
thats great advice about not pushing yourself realy hard an dlistening to your body I tend to go full throttle as you can see in my video I get hungry for more but need to understand that I have been sedentary for a long time and am over 100 pounds overweight and can hurt myself if I push to hard . I generally just walk with a little bit of jogging at a time because I dont want to mess up my knees with this huge body of mine. you are doing awesome by the way keep it up
I love my HIIT workouts. I need to add a little incline to my treadmill. My treadmill is old and squeaky too! Wow! You ran fast. Don't you love the sweat you get from this workout? You know I've vlogged about HIIT and been doing this type of work out daily. It's great!!! Day 11, yay!
I know you do HIIT--keep it up! Sweating is good unless I have to shower and run off to work right away, then I keep sweating after my shower. Ready for day 12!

can you change your body in 1 week if you go crazy and
work out 115 hours in 1 week w/ the perfect diet? Is it hours in gym or time?

Recent peer reviewed research DISPELLS the MYTH that you create a 24 hour fat burning situation after intense exercise.

Here are some accurate figures for everyone:
This is from Cameron et al Energy ExpenditureWalking and Running Dec 2004.
the net calories.
your weight in pounds X .63 per mile run
your weight in pounds X .30 per mile walked
A 250 pound man walking A 26 mile MARATHON would burn 1,950 calories. That is still less than even one pound's worth of fat.
A 250 pound man running 3 miles (which burns TWICE that of HIIT) will burn 472 calories.

Just know that MOST around 75 % of a sprinters trainign is LOW intensity tempo runs
And the WAY they sprint does not resemble HIIT in the least no even remotely
Sprinters rest for as long as 15 minutes sometimes. They are completely , completely recovered in their heart rate before the next sprint.
sexylisagirl23 2 years ago
Look into Mark Sisson "The primal blueprint"
Sprints around 6 of them 100 meters i healthy. 200 meters and 11 or so is probably too much and causing oxidative damage.
Intense exercise creates cancer causing free radicals. Do some walking, sprints now and then lifting now and then

Good point, but I can only budget about 6 hours a week to exercise.
That 250 pound man would only be 190 once he got to a fitness level where he could run 10 200 meter sprints in 35 seconds each!

Not much, but I'll take it ; )

You lost weight because you CREATED A CALORIE DEFICIT. nothing else
I lost 44 pounds in 11 weeks?HOW? Not much exercise at all other than lifting once a week and some intermittent walking
NO EXERCISE is needed for fat loss. Fact.
sexylisagirl26 2 years ago
I agree fully with this post.
Exercise helps create a calorie deficit in that it burns calories.
Intense exercise helps create an even greater calorie deficit because it burns even more calories than casual exercise.

My computer keys are all screwed up. They do not respond to the touch well.
Anyway The Tremblay study all the HIIT promoters MISREPRESENT actually found:
after 15 weeks interval subjects lost a whopping 0.5 kg LOL!
Lyle McDonald details this in his Steady state ve intervals article. Please read it all of you HIIT promoters

Just remember HIIT is a gimmick. It does not work better than steady state.
DOSE, exercise DOSE is what is correlated with fat lsos NOT intensity.
Armstrong and Phelps trained HOURS a day. I do not belive either ate 12,000. I would like ro see strict control of their calorie intake for PROOF.
I would bet at least 8,000 though
Still that is too many calories for health. The oxidataive damage must be staggering and NEITHER are healthy.
