It is actually called SCIENCE which classifies the product of human conception as a living human being. As far as the overpopulation thing European cultures are the only ones with declining birth rates and consequently declining cultures. Demographics are destiny. I understand where your argument is coming from; it is smart to acknowledge the fact that the combination of egg and sperm produces another organism. However, this organism is not referred to as a "fetus" until sometime during the third trimester of pregnancy. Until then, it is an embryo, and embryos are incapable of feeling pain. Saying that it is wrong to kill embryos is similar to saying it is wrong to kill bacteria. Ultimately, it is the mother's choice, and it IS her body at stake.

If you can't think outside of the box and consider millions of women's circumstances, then don't expect educated people to accept yours. I do think abortions are sad, they're not funny or happy. But they're sometimes needed by people, who can not physically, emotionally, mentally, financially support more people.

When my son was born prematurely, he was called a baby even though born very early. As far as the overpopulation thing European cultures are the only ones with declining birth rates and consequently declining cultures. Demographics are destiny. Also GMO crops help extend the crop yields to compensate for more mouths to feed. I understand where your argument is coming from; it is smart to acknowledge the fact that the combination of egg and sperm produces another organism. However, this organism is not referred to as a "fetus" until sometime during the third trimester of pregnancy. Until then, it is an embryo, and embryos are incapable of feeling pain. Saying that it is wrong to kill embryos is similar to saying it is wrong to kill bacteria. Ultimately, it is the mother's choice, and it IS her body at stake.

People don't normally let non thinking entities make decisions for them. If someone can't care for another person, then they can't. When my son was born prematurely, he was called a baby even though born very early. When I had an ultrasound at my first doctor’s appointment to determine the approximate due date, no one at the office called my child an embryo, they said “let’s look at your BABY!”

The fact that it's not wanted, and still in early developmental stage, an extension of its mothers body (yes, a separate entity, with a beating heart, which an earthworm has as well, may I point out) means she decides what would be best for her and the future baby. Giving her kid away might not be something she believes in, may not be a suitable reason for her personally to continue the pregnancy.
