I hope that eventually that the women and men in this sect/cult and others like it will live more like Independant Fundementalists and try to fit in more with mainstream society. I think it would make them a lot more happy & I think it would help there not be such a stigma related to polygamy if they lived more like everyday people. I don't think it is just the child abuse in these polygamous sect that are the problem. While it is the most important problem, there are many others. To me there is not a whole lot of difference in 17 & 18 yrs. old, some 18 yr. olds are still immature. So, while it is terrible for a 14 to 17 yr. old to get married, it is also terrible for an 18 yr. old to be forced to get married. There is one question which seems hypocritical to me in the customs of the North American society and the legal system. It sems a man is allowed to have any number of mistresses but not two or more wives, which one would imagine, carries much more responsibilities with it?
