RIP Ari, I'm re-listening to all your amazing songs and they're all bringing back such happiness. I'm so thankful to have had your music with me when i was young, it gave me the strength to be free with myself.
their first album changed my life as i am still determined not to be a typical girl and forever traveling to new towns.I love Ari-Up! i'll never forget her. she'll be in my heart forever.
The Slits may've been unique, but there were plenty of great girly post-punk bands: Au Pairs, Liliput, Raincoats, Delta 5, Essential Logic, Lizzie Mercier Descloux, etc.
Maybe Bush Tetras, they're a New York group from late 70s or very early 80s. Actually, they're not as, I don't know how else to say it, entertaining as the slits.
The Mo Dettes had a member of the Slits in it and they likewise had one song I liked just like the Slits, lol. White Mice, its posted on youtube. For a female lead punk band that lasted a little while you could look up Siouxsie & the Banshees, and Bow Wow Wow, I also saw The Plasmatics in the late 70's and that was quite a night for my 16 year old self, Wendy O Williams was a true trend setter I dont think anyone tried to walk in her shoes since. Also Joan Jett, she made me deaf for 3 days.
M.I.A. should TOTALLY do a remix of this song!!!

While I can't say theirs was a sound I enjoyed listening to, it was interesting musical experimentation and they were pushing boundaries.

Superbe son, qui ne ressemble à rien d'autre, si ce n'est peut-être aux Specials, et composition très personnelle.

Sadly, not nearly enough! The Slits were totally unique, but you may enjoy The Raincoats from the same period. Cheers!
