ibanez87 Excellent tip, thanks! I should have figured this out long ago, but this time I checked out when I played the A chord, (not sure how I missed that all this time) then I tried the same progression using Bflat instead of A and it instantly worked!
(Anyone)
Is there a point, like every other measure/chord pattern, where the A is played instead of the Bflat? Much appreciated!!!
Def Lep was one of my biggest influences when I started playing guitar as a teenager. I love playing along to about every song on High N Dry, although I fake too much of it.
I like Gibsons and SGs. Mine sounds better after I changed the bridge pickup to be parallel to the strings which also made it a rigid mount. Made it sound more musical and full sounding.
Yep, plus likely strings are getting hung up at the bridge, and possibly at the nut. If you use a tremolo, the going out of tune effect can become a serious problem. Fixes include making bridge and neck contact points more smooth/less friction (graphite powder), reduce string down-break angle over the bridge (raise stop piece), replace bridge w/roller bridge or graphite saddles for less friction. Since using a roller bridge w/trem use even, I have no ''going out of tune'' issues. Jam on! ;)
I agree, it's hard to express in words, but I think you catch the point where I keep playing the wrong chord in the pattern, I think it's the chorus. I could learn from TAB as I think I bought a book that covers it. I will check it out before the next vid for sure. Good call!
I'm still looking forward to doing the next round of videos (hopefully) showing progress or improvements, but my life is currently on hold pattern in a big way.
Thx stexupery69 and tman003 for the koodo's, Gibbys rock!
I can't wait to do some new vids, but wont likely be for a while. Maybe this winter sometime. I have a lot of room to improve. ;) Chuckles, in one case I think mess up the main chord progression order.
A special thanks to all who offer positive support. Like any hobby/pastime/passion, keep it fun!

Headstock top area, Epi's usually have a taller rounded middle & downward cut ends instead of the somewhat flared upward ends plus the shorter & split "open book" middle section of a Gibson. The LP in the background is an Epi. Tip, pickup guru & former Gibson engineer Bill Lawrence has some great pickups. Heard one in a Gibson SG special & it sounded fabulous for about $50! Get a decent guitar, pickups, amp, speakers, cab, strings etc. as each part of your signal chain is crucial 4 good sound.
Everyone, I am going thru a particularly tough time right now. Utilities are scheduled for shutoff in a few days, I'm unemployed and getting kicked out of my apartment and could loose my CDL drivers license to name a few. So I doubt I'll be making guitar videos for a while. I'll be alright one way or another. Thanks for checking out my vids. Hope to see you around, have a good one.
That sounds great! I can play along with most of the songs on High n Dry album, that's about it, would like to see your vids! I like early stuff the best. Please keep in touch, looking forward to vids!
funny I play both of these songs, an I play them diffrently. more or less high n dry. were pretty close on bringing on the hartbreak. Ill post a vid of me playing them. You know me an my wine. Its my fav leppard song to play. also answear to the master an billys got a gun. in the process of learning coming under fire
Thanks, all. I find the sound quality of the recording is not good, it sounds much better in person. I really enjoy playing bringin on the heartbreak, the TAB is pretty easy to follow and good fingering practice. I also miss Steamin Steve, he was great. I like the old stuff, Pyromania and earlier. I also like Phil too, in some ways, better. Someday I'll record again and see if I can record better sounds. ;)
Pretty good, dude. From what I can see. I had a '68 SG with the tail piece. Sold it. Pretty much note-for-note from what I can see. I'll be watchin' this video to see what you are doing. Great job, man.
great for a beginner! one thing to help you.
in the main/verse riff for high n dry, the A chord be a Bb. in other words, move it a fret higher.
rock on! high n dry is a great album

My Gibson SG goes out of tune way to easily. Maybe it's cause I bend hard all the time.
