University clocks up another towering success

Hi, sorry to hear you’re disappointed not to have been involved in designing the clock. We do try to use our students as much as possible because of the great work they create – and it’s our job to tell the world this!

In the past, our students have designed the ‘University Quarter’ logo, the University’s Christmas cards, a computer game to promote our penguin mascot, the new shirt for the local bowling club, and the promotional materials for the end of year ADT degree shows.

Sometimes we need something relatively quickly and it can be difficult to build this into your teaching programme without upsetting it. ADT academics were involved in this project from an early stage and together we decided it would be more practical and achievable to run a school competition. These schools were chosen because they’re in Derbyshire and we’re always trying to promote the Uni to local schools. We’re proud of our students and what you achieve and are always trying to promote this.

I find it disappointing that random school kids designed the clock instead of design/ADT students, always seems whenever I see videos uploaded by University of Derby there are never any actual current University of Derby students included, are you ashamed of us?

Considering that we the students pay for everything I think we should be involved more.
