I just got myself an original Macintosh Classic with the intent on refurbishing it with the insides of a micro ATX core i3 or i5 system with an LCD monitor.

@Techmoan Actually, my previous question probably is a silly one as I clearly saw the OSX dock on the bottom of the screen so my next question is: how did you get that old retro monitor to hook up with the mac mini? is it straight forward?

@futurepast1 I've only done this with the iPad. I'm aware that people have used Mac Minis and the hardest part is getting a high resolution 4:3 screen that is the correct size to fit in the space, there is plenty of space inside for the Mini. I have seen one that interfaced with the stock monitor...you'll have to do a bit of googling to find it.

@ikkejr You've got me ...no unsurprisingly I don't use it for docking any more. Here's why.... I bought a new Mac Mini which has enough power in the USBs to sync and charge the iPad at the same time - my old Mac Mini could only Sync. I therefore used to leave my iPad it in the Dockintosh overnight - but now just leave it docked to the new Mini.

@bboy19822002 The cable was bought from EBay, although if you go to a decent camera shop you should be able to fine one. It's is called a remote shutter release cable. Do a search for Shutter Release Cable and you should find a number for sale. Don't worry if it says that it is a locking one, that just means that if it is twisted it can be locked into a depressed state as well.

Besides which, you need to determine whether or not the dockintosh is going to cause damage to your iPad while in use and so the fake iPad works well for all experiments.
