  • I am Bipolar 1 Severe; I took meds and I believed It would help.

I stopped because of the physical side-effects.. I had no choice.

    I wasn't progressing at all.

Now I am happy without medicine..I am even doing things I thought I couldn't even do.

(I have uploaded some videos of me doing things on my Account)

Drawing, listening to music, and the best and most efficient way is to have at least one person...who understands or supports you. I have MANY family members, and only 1 supports me. <3

  • we have alot in common

  • One dose of seroquel turned an episode of hypomania/ anxiety into full blown mania and psychosis and it did it within minutes of taking it. It felt as if my soul was being torn out of my brain, the only way i can describe it. Absolute fear and dread, and visually all was in a mist .I asked the doctor and pharmacist about side effects before taking it, neither warned me of this effect. I was kneeling pleading with my wife to call the doc, who merely advised , wait til it wears off.

  • @Hompeystib Yeah, I hear you, it was a terrifying experience for me going through the same kind of thing.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing ...then my speech slurred and it knocked me out for 12 hours. I know 2 guys who have taken it. 1 bplr who had similar effect, spoke to him & that helped alot. & another who responded well & had no problem. I went from pacing , which is what I do in hypo to Mars. This blog helping me alot btw. Trying to self educate as suggested by psych nurse.Lithium worked for last 12 months, but recent hypo quite bad. Difficult to see the hypo til i'm already in it.

  • seroquel made everything seem like a dream. i heard evil laughter from people, and too nice of talk from people. it made my hallucinations come back again too. this happened the day after i took them. ive been on risperidol for about 9 months and im trying to get off of it myself. im pretty much stuck right now, i dont know which is worse, taking them or not taking them. i feel better off of them, but i take it every so often to keep my neurotransmitters at a normal level.

  • Sissy,.. try mine at 15mg haldol plus 40mg valium..

Quit complaining, things can always be worse,

I really do hope things work out for you x

  • @poet79ful I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist. A regular doctor isn't really qualified to diagnose mental illnesses or prescribe treatment for them.

  • @poet79ful yes, i have but it was not sex related... i did all kids of crazy thinggs,ie. walking down the road at 2 am in the morning, almost getting smashed buy an 18 wheeler, writing bizarre emails, staying uo late listening to music, and yhe list goes on...i have alot of guilt for the things ive said and done because it was out of my character. i too keep reliving it and its tormenting.

  • Ya,if were guna go grab those drinks your guna have to chill out on the eye shaddow! kidding. Was precribed Depakote and Lithium. Fun, fun lets get the psychotic episodes going ! Cant wait.

  • I'm not diagnosed yet (but I'm pretty sure the doc is dishing out the diagnosis next sesssion) and I tried these meds the doctor gave me (after years of refusing them) and it sent me into the most manic episode I'd ever had, and I'm pretty hesitant on trying them out again. There are meds that WONT have this effect, right?

  • DO YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND? HEHE

  • i think that your psychotic reaction that you described was not caused by seroquel . it was rather caused by your abrupt stoppage of risperdal . stopping an anti-psychotic medication abruptly can trigger psychotic symptoms to form . it has happened to me many times while i was taking off medication abruptly and placed on a new medication . i blamed the new meds for my psychotic symptoms when in fact they were caused by the abrupt change in meds. :)

  • There are many many Drugs and many many Doctors, find the right ones, Its your responsibility, don't give up and listen to your Doctors.

  • Comment removed

  • people , men and women , can suffer from psychosis . people also suffer from depression . if the individual does not have psychosis or depression , then there is no need for anti-psychotic medication . there is no cure for bipolar , or schizophrenia . and people with these mental disorders who experience psychosis and severe depression , know first - hand how frightening and horrifying they can be . anti-psychotics should be administered to keep the brain (mind) functioning in a normal manner .

  • in my experiences with anti-psychotics , doctors , hospitals , and the prescribing medication for people . it is never common practice to increase a persons seroquel from 5o mg/day to 800mg/day . it is recommended that you start with 50 mg/day and slowly work your way up to 800 mg/day , if it is neccessary to take that kind of high dosage . most common side effects of seroquel xr is an increase in appetite , an increase in sleep , dry mouth , dizziness , less commonly sleep paralysis .

  • seroquel xr , like many atypical anti-psychotics , may increase appetite for those using these medicines . the drugs themselves do not trigger weight gain . however the common side effects of seroquel for instance in some cases will be an increase of appetite and increased desire for food and eating .it is recommended while taking these types of medication that you monitor your eating habits . if you notice you are consuming more food than usual , you are probably going to gain some weight .

  • For those who seem to have psychotic or delirious episodes soon after taking a new medication i suggest reading about Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome on wikipedia. For weight gain issues due to meds read about Metabolic Disorder.

  • ...Since weight gain is expected with Seroquel, this issue wasnt really addressed.I decided to trust my observation, stopped it completely &surprised unaware doctors with quick recovery, soon after i was home.Since then I've accepted my bipolar, which allowed me to use coping mechanisms. I've also researched and started using homeopathic ways of dealing with this disorder and I feel GREAT! And my still messed up digestive system motivates me to keep it up...

  • ...I remember words 'schizophrenic attack' being used. Ending up in a 'loony bin' just worsened my state as i have a mild PTSD. As i was in denial about my bipolar then, i managed to skip a few consecutive pills and noticed delirium going away, but was coming back within hours of taking next dose (hard to avoid meds in hospital &was threatened with depot if i did not take them).I was experiencing severe gastric issues every day and gained 45pounds over a month period.

  • Within hour of taking Seroquel (50mg/day) I started having dry mouth, high heart rate&could almost hear blood rushing to my head. Seriously freaked out, so psychotic looking, i mentioned it to my consultant the next day, using rather big words. Was told that couldn't have been caused by new med &the dosage was upped. By evening I was fully psychotic, experienced my first suicidal thought &was taken to hospital next day, dose went up... to 800mg/day.

  • seroquel xr is used for the treatment of psychosis . it is also used as a add-on treatment with anti-depressants for the treatmeant of depression . typical dosage is 50 - 800 mg / day . it takes about a week or so to start feeling its effects . people with schizophrenia , bipolar disorder , and manic-depression are commonly prescribed seroquel xr .

  • that was all you seroquel is a good med

  • I have taken a dozen depression or bi-polar meds. I think you're assuming the meds are more potent than they actually are. I found the bipolar meds to be"

Seroquel - like a horse tranquilizer...was asleep most of the days.

Risperdal - slowed my thinking, like i was in a daze. turned my concious problems into subconcious problems. gained 15pounds.

Valporic Acid: No noticible effects. positive or negative.

Lithium- Some luck stablizing my mood to the positive side. but its hit and miss.

  • For those interested in maniac depresssion, pls read Kay Jamison's book on her bipolar illness. She is a psychologist who realized she needed to take meds to prevent herself from committing suicide. Thank God for lithium! It has saved my life.........

  • My suggestion is to not take any medications or drugs. They are not natural and not meant to go into your brain. I have had lots of problems with depression and anxiety. My experience with any medication is that it makes you think its working by taking them but are truly not. You can only fix your mind. The drugs only cover the problem. Peace has to come from within yourself and only you can fix your mind and thoughts. I know its hard but I would definitively stay away from drugs.

  • @BenP6395 Your suggestion of not taking any medications is of little relevance here in the comments sections of a BIPOLAR video seen as you only mention having problems with depression and anxiety and not BIPOLAR. The fact is, the majority of people with this illness benefit greatly from mood stabilisers as it levels out their moods to a more manageable degree. Bipolar disorder has one of, if not the highest suicide rate of all mental illnesses. Medications prevent suicide. Simple as.

  • @tooldrummer Your wrong when you say its to little relevance to the subject of Bi-Polar. Regular Chronic Depression, mood swings, and anxiety all go hand to hand with Bi-Polar disorders. And how can you say Bi-Polar benefit so greatly from medications when Bi-Polar people have the highest suicide rate of all mental illness. How can you make such a bold statement of saying medications prevent suicide. If anything its the other way around. Most people that commit suicide are in fact on medication

  • @BenP6395 Ok, those things do go hand in hand with Bipolar but it's still a different disease and requires different treatments. I'm not saying the medications work like miracle cures; they don't, but they can alleviate certain symptoms to a more controllable level. The suicide rate in Bipolar is decreasing because of increased awareness and research into treatment which INCLUDES meds. Any ever thought that people who suicide on medication are the more severe cases (hence on meds).

  • @tooldrummer Bi-Polar is a different "disorder" it is not a disease. Aids is considered a disease. Bi-Polar is only a word that describes a person's severe mood swings and of course depression that goes with it. And I believe people only with very severe Bi-Polar symptoms might want to start with some drugs, only too calm them down. Suicide rates in Bi-Polar people are not decreasing, they are the highest they've ever been. And Yes most people on medications suicide.

  • @BenP6395 But there's no proof in saying that there cases our more severe just because they take drugs. If people with severe problems are killing themselves, even when on medications does it not prove that the psych-active medications aren't and didn't work for these them and their condition. They obviously have deeper problems that drugs cannot fix. Drugs will only MASK the problem that these people are having and never fix it.

  • @BenP6395 The main thing is that Bi-Polar is not a disease it is a disorder. It diseases that kill your body there are medications that can help people recover and stay alive. But in a disorder like Bi-Polar it is caused by your thoughts and how they perceive their realities. Bi-Polar people can live happily and find peace but thay can only do it that by themselves and form within themselves. No drugs, friends, material items or even your family can change someone as a person.

  • @BenP6395 -in the way the think, act, and feel about themselves and the world around them. Once people start understanding this concept that our depressions, mood swings and anxieties all stem from within ourselves and are consciousness, we will start having great progress towards finding peace for everyone and mostly the people having problems with these disorders :)

  • @BenP6395 BP can be, and is considered a disease. Look up the definition of "disease". AIDS is a disease of the immune system, bipolar of the brain. So now you're saying there IS a place for medication in the treatment of BP, and just to note that to get a BP diagnosis you have to be showing severe symptoms, otherwise it's considered cyclothymia. Where are you getting these stats from? I think you mean to say most people who suicide are on medication, which we've already discussed.

  • @tooldrummer Most people on medications commit suicide. People can obviously call bi-polar a disease but that doesn't mean it is. And Multiple Sclerosis, Autism and Alzheimer's are diseases of the brain. Bi-Polar is not a disease. Hence that's why it is named Bi-Polar Disorder. People can function with Bi-Polar Disorder, to say that it's a disease is just a cop out.

  • @BenP6395 If a person is having very severe signs like wanting to hurt themselves and most of all other people, maybe they should be given drugs for the time being to calm them down. Even if you give them drugs, you don't know how their brain will react, it could make everything worse.

  • @BenP6395 We have different opinions and we're not getting anywhere so I'm done. I don't see the point in arguing with someone who doesn't have any experience with this illness and is stuck with an ignorant and biased opinion on mental illness and medication.

  • @tooldrummer First I know we have different opinions..lol. It you a while to notice that...I understand why you don't want to argue. It's because you obviously suck at it by looking at our argument for far. And I do struggle with this DISORDER. But I am smart, successful and doing good with my life right now. I just deal with it. Just like the thousands of people out there that aren't diagnosed and don't take drugs for it.

  • Pharmacy's Greek origin goes back to pharmakeus, or sorcerer, as in "one who induces/prescribes/makes a mind altering substance." With this little funfact outta the way, we should know that they still call it practicing medicine for a reason. Especially neuro-drugs! Top docs will claim that it's "not an exact-science, but it works" and so will the layman. There WILL be side effects upon most anything humans ingest and can/will affect many parts and systems of the body. Always expect this. :3

  • you know Seroquel takes months for the full effect to set in? How can you say its the Seroquels fault after one day?

Why do you try to ruin for all the people that can and have good results with this medication?

Listen to your doctor and stop being a hippocrate.

  • @Vulcanicer How am I ruining anything for anyone? My videos are documenting my own experience. Other people can do whatever they want, it has nothing to do with me. If you don't like what I have to say, do not come to my channel.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing your propaganda based on hasty generalizations are ruining for people that can have good effects from this medication.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing that is true, its amazing how now u do these vids, people think u represent bipolar for everyone lol. You are just one woman trying her best, keep up the great work!

  • @Vulcanicer How is she ruining anything for other people? This channel is an account of her personal experiences. Calling her a hypocrite is not only inaccurate in your spelling, but also in what you think it means. As she stated in her own reply, if you do not like what she has to say, don't bother going to her channel.

  • @Vulcanicer inbred shut up, she is actually smart... watch the video.

  • @Vulcanicer seroquels does not take months! they give it to people to calm them down now instead od benzos.

  • @Vulcanicer this is her personal experience and she's been kind enough to let us in.......... hippocrate, i think you meant to spell hypocrite?? Seroquel has been an amazing drug for myself doesn't mean it should work for others. You wouldn't give nuts to a person allergic to nuts now?

  • I will be 55 next year, am American but came to Europe long ago to get healthcare. I really feel that psych meds are only good as a short term band aid solution. I know a lot of people don't want to hear this! I am off all meds now but the damage is done. I still function pretty well and the last two shrinks I stuck with longterm don't feel I need any meds. Abilify was horrendous. Tardive akathesia!

  • the trial and error is awful...

ive been on a couple of the medications you just mentioned...

    stay strong girl.

  • @isaidl0l You might like my two YT channels and what I do over on Dailymotion, and I also have a website. I don't sell anything. I am a consultant but that has nothing to do with videos.

  • Resperidol made me psychotic to........thanks doc

  • thank you for sharing. seroquel messed me up really bad too. made me feel more psychotic than i already was. had nightmares with it too. luckily i was in the hospital at the time so it could be monitored and i was taken off of it rather quickly. i have started sharing my own videos about living with bipolar too

  • I really like this vid. I relate to what you're saying here. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad I found your channel :)

  • I had very little results with Lamictal, but I gradully upped the dose to 250mg. and this works for me. You really need a higher dose for lamictal to be effective. But I wont take anything else because I now have no side effects from this med.

  • DONT TAKE THESE EFFIN MEDS IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY FUCK YOU UP ROYALLY; COMMON SENSE:

DEAL WITH YOUR PROBLEMS IN OTHER WAYS ; DO SPORTS THE BEST ANTI DEPRESSANT IN THE WORLD IS DOPAMINE

  • @poosaypirate I disagree. I am a believer in medication. It has absolutely nothing to do with "dealing with problems." My bipolar symptoms many times arise when everything is going fine in my life and there is no correlation with anything happening in my life with the symptoms I experience. So, sorry, but that is just an ignorant comment right there.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing +SIGH+ in the olden days there was no such thing as that and people lived just fine. just because your LIFE is going fine and you get bi-polar "symptoms" still doesnt meant shovel every pharmaceutical in your body ( NEW MEDICINES) ARE YOU aware there are CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS against these medicine companies because of long term brain-damage caused by these NEW meds ? memory loss among the various SYMPTOMS Caused by these meds

  • @poosaypirate who the fuck are you to say that in the olden days people were "just fine" without meds. How do you know everyone was fine? Were you there? Just because we didn't know about mental illness doesn't mean it didn't exist. Such a stupid assumption. You also need to realise that mental illness itself is a cause for such things as memory loss and cognitive deterioration and meds are often used as a scapegoat and aren't always the cause.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing . you trust your psychiatrist and the medicine companies. go one.just realize thats a multi billion dollar industry- common sense is free, much like Alternative Medicine . but the cost there is being informed

  • @BipolarStateofBeing thanks so much, im sayin!

  • @BipolarStateofBeing and you probably shovel every shit chemicals for food and alcohol and other legal drugs in your face at the same time

  • @poosaypirate Well well you are such an expert arent you. How much study have you done? go away. you have no clue some people may need medication, some for life. some for periods of time. God Bless you for not understanding I hope you have an experience that opens your mind up past yourself. bye.

  • @1FuZzToNe1 UHM GEE; MAYBE I HAVE - MAYBE I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE

MAYBE YOUR PROBLEM IS YOU HAVE TO OPEN YOUR MIND UP PAST **Y O U R ** SELF

    HUH?

  • @poosaypirate YOU ARE CORRECT !! Exercise is good for people with ( GENETIC ) Depression and Bipolar Disease.

BUT...these are serious illnessess that require a TREATMENT PLA>Regular sleep, exercise daily, healthy diet, medications, psychitric suppervision AND EDUCATION.

Omega 3 fatty acids and some other vitamins have also been found to help with Bipolar.

Avoiding alcohol, caffine, weed and IGNORANT people that don't know what they are talking about is VERY EFFECTIVE ...family included :0)

  • @poosaypirate

    no.

  • @poosaypirate You've never really met or seen anyone with psychiatric problems, have you. Activity tend to increase the manic state even more. And for someone who's depressive it might help to think about something else for a while with things like sports, but it won't remedy depression. In the long run you aim for a medication free life but in many cases that's not possible. Unless you think taking medication away is worth having people being psychotic, manic, suicidal etc.

  • @poosaypirate sports do nothing to increase dopamine. you mean enorphins.

  • after they started me on neuroleptics, my psychotic episodes got worse, much more severe. I'm on Risperdal consta depot right now, and Mirtazapine. But I also smoke a lot of pot along with it, I find it helps me when I'm on the edge of going down...

  • meds can be necessary, but not all the time. like i said. everyone is different.

  • @54drexhead Funny that you left these comments right about now as I am considering going off my meds. I don't believe that psychiatrists are out to get us or anything but in my case I would just like to see how I do without the medication. Worst case scenario, I just go back on them. So next week I will be talking to my doctor about this.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing We should remember it's a profit run field, and anytime profiteering is allowed in a field, there is going to be extra things marketed and offered that many people don't even need. It's just how the capitalist system works. Young people should know this.

  • Respond to this video... What you say at 2:10 can be a combination of a bad reaction to certain meds, along with watching too many fictional TV shows about that topic. It's easy enough to realize that most of TV is pure fiction, to ignore it and not integrate anything bogus seen into one's real life. :)

  • then send you on your way. the mind is different. Doctors do hand out meds, they recieve benefits for doing so, there def is some corruption within pharmaceutical industry. The best thing to do is to spend time and research your symptoms before taking anything.

  • my name is aaron. i live in boston. im a musician. i take 6 meds. zyprexa, lithium, lemictyl, neurontin, levoxyl, klonopin. im 29. diagnosed at 21. been hospitalized twice. been on many different meds. everyday is a battle. STAY AWAY from anti- psychotics if you can. Not worth it. meds should only be utilized if completely necessary. The science of bipolar, and psychopharmacology , and is an UNEXACT science. Every mind is different. if you break your foot, they will x ray it, put it in a cast

  • Watch ABILIFY KILLS on YouTube - - one of the worst drugs for bipolar disorder!

  • yeah but your hot so its OK

  • I came up with an idea called the "coin theory." It's a simple but important theory. Basically, if you are not psychotic, psychotic drugs will make you worse, just like psychotic people who don't take their medicine will get worse. Drug companies seem to be giving out medication like candy these days. I agree that certain people definitely need medication, but let's make sure these meds don't fall into the hands of relatively stable people.

  • @A08041988 The reason I call it the coin theory is because if you designate heads as stable and tails as unstable (or vice verse), medications will always flip the coin.

  • @A08041988 I agree, I think there are probably many people out there on medication who probably don't really need it or are over-medicated.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing I am one of them. I have been hospitalized 3 times, VOLUNTARILY each time, I did not try to hurt myself or anyone else, and I was on FIVE medications. I did need medicine, don't get me wrong, and I still do take some (only klonopin and zoloft), but I was being experimented on like a lab rat. My doctor put me on a drug called cogentine because according to him "my harms were stiff."

  • @A08041988 It can be tough when you are riding the med rollercoaster and nothing is working. I hope that now you are doing better.

  • @A08041988 Your little experiment is NOT a theory. Get your terms right.

  • @thornygravy this is not an experiment. it's an idea/theory.

  • @A08041988 People in third world countries who have mental health issues often do better than those in first world countries. It is often a question of a structured, supportive environment and being looked after constantly, while leading, still, a productive live. I was misdiagnosed as mentally ill for decades and in fact was really just traumatized and had PHYSICAL health issues.

  • life has up's and down's just deal with it. stop giving money to the pusherman. he dont care if you live or die god dam the pusher man.

i used to not be able to sleep once i trained my self to go to sleep at night the probem's whent away. the there's doctor and them there drug pusher and they look a lot alike. beware. and good luck and good night.

  • I took seroquel was horrible made me feel worst. My bipolar/psychosis went away after I went to Jerusalem I havent had symptoms for 10 yrs now

  • This is my medication since 2004

    /watch?v=id0nxAF5U4A

There is no better medication for the heart and mind than this!

  • Try DENIAL, it works for me :)

  • It's so ironic that meds that are supposed to help us can end up hurting us. I was put on Seroquel XR and the first night I took it I fainted!

  • god, given that so many high achievers, genius's,academics, intellectuals etc suffer with this illness that the scientists wouldve tweaked the meds by now alot better.

  • apparently if you get psychotic symptoms from taking psychotics it's because you are not psychotic and do not need this type of medication. I took seroquel and had a nightmare of massive spiders crawling all over my body, i woke up and it was still going on. I was tossing and turning and screaming in me bed. Never took that sht again!

  • @EyesofGeisha I think it all depends on the individual med, as all meds are different. I had a bad reaction to seroquel but I did well on Risperdal and now zyprexa. I've been on Zyprexa for over 9 months and it has worked wonders for me, better than any other type of med I have tried.

  • they make you gain alot af damn wieght at least i did thats why i stop taking them blah

  • i hate this feeling of never feeling ''right'' its weird

  • I was given Seroquel to battle severe insomnia; now I can't stay awake. I have Fibromyalgia & PTSD/vivid nightmares & anxiety. It has been helping all of that except my pain... I pass out smoking, typing on Internet or text. trouble focusing & my pain is worse too

  • my doctor wanted me to take risperdal i said fuck no. i never been on anti psychotics, and still not. i started taking vitamin D, that helps a lot with my bipolar and schizophrenia symptoms

  • @babyty84

Well done! Maashaa'allah (lit. the god has willed good for you)!

This is my medication since 2004

    /watch?v=id0nxAF5U4A

There is no medication better than this for the problems of the heart and the mind!

  • my anxiety owns me as well i cant even wait for pizza i start shaking opening door over and over until it comes i know me so i know its normal but i have freaked friends out i lost 70 lbs on xanax and klonopini stoped cold turkey my wrist is almost chopped offf

  • @europhiCc That doesn't sound good!

  • Okay, Now I agree with you. I took Seroquel as well and I was woken up by my fiancee and I suddenly got enraged, like never before. I actually struck him several times. He left me alone and let me go back to sleep, and bless his heart he stayed by me and watched me sleep for the majority of the day. When I woke up the second time I was still irate but able to keep myself awake. My personal motto is Say NO to Seroquel. I think I would need an anti depressant, and another medicine with it.

  • @susanalaguera That's interesting that you had a similar experience as me. It's weird how it can work so well for some people but just make others (like myself) go nutty.

  • ugh third night i cant sleep im happy i know theres others out there and its not just me

  • @bob00246 Don't feel bad, you're not alone

  • Risperdal serequel tegretol xanax were my meds ( had to stop not by choice ) if I am not sedated my mania and anxiety own me. It is not easy thinking of every possible "what if" for every situation

  • getting off evil zyprexa was the fight of my life.

  • you're pretty

  • @Beatngu002 Thank you :)

  • oh i just yesterday watched your video about not wanting to go off meds, sorry for suggesting that.. meds can accumulate in the organs especially if your doctor gives you too many, so just watch that, keep doing your own research and dont just take what those doctors say at face value. ok. ;-)

  • benzotropine is the anti-side effect medication for risperdal, and it DOES work. risperdal side effects can include irritable, shaking, uncontrolled, restless feelings, insomnia, depressed lack of motivation states, blah as you talked about in the other video, benzotropine in pill form like 2mg a day can help most of these restless side effects.. i have been on risperdal and benzotropine for 2 years on a moderate dose someday i hope to be clean off meds completely!

  • @Tubaholic26 It would be great to be off meds completely wouldn't it? I think it works out better for some people than others for some reason.

  • yea i agree natural remedies are not strong and specific 4 mental illness, however some may help while on psyc meds...i´ve found magnesium very useful for agitation and insomnia and omega 3 for sensitivity, i mix them with my antidepressants

  • @girococo That's interesting. I wonder how people find these natural methods, since there are so many out there.

  • Have you ever tried more natural remedies?....like weed, it does wonders, and the only side effect is junk food :)

  • @intrusosgang No no no, weed is fun, and I struggle to avoid it, but it makes me super paranoid and get panic attacks, and it lasts even when I'm no longer high. Not a good idea, but I wish that it was :(

  • @intrusosgang I don't really believe in natural remedies for bipolar, plus I don't want to do anything that's illegal.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing weed is not harmful. It's the stupid lawmaker that labels weed as destructive. Today, cannabis is used to treat Bipolar recommended by doctors. My girlfriend has bipolar type 1 and cannabis calms her when she needs to and also her anxiety doesn't get as bad when she smokes or eats it. O, she lives in California, and she has a permit from her doctor to use cannabis for her illness. I don't know about your state, but weed is a good drug that the pharmaceutical and gov't. hate.

  • @intrusosgang I love that^

    ^_^

  • I am also on Lamotragine, Lithum, (just came off of venlafixine, Effexor) and clonazapam as needed. So at this point I am not sure what drug is doing what as far as keeping my illness in check or causing the known and unknown side effects. It doesn't help much to k now that you are not alone but you are not alone. What you are experiencing and thinking are real. God help us all.

  • I have to tell you that I am on 400mg at bedtime. I have to make sure that I am into bed shortly thereafter because I hallucinate so badly that I cannot make it to the bedroom. And my sleep is full of nightmares. I also have the problem that the dreams then spill into my day. I hate that part of things but during the daytime what a relief that I am not manic now in the summertime. I have the fear everyday and night that the drugs I am on are causing damage the will shorten my life.

  • @stevensteven041 Wow, if you are having that kind of reaction to meds you are taking you should definitely talk to your doctor about trying something else. No one should have to deal with that.

  • seroquel made me gain weight and have delusions! the first night i was in hospital they gave me so much seroquel i thought the devil or something evil was in the hospital with me,, omg such a nightmare! then they gave me haloperidol which make me so stiff liike a wooden maden doll :( now im taking risperdal which is fine but im always scared about antypsychotic side effects like diskynesia :(

  • i have had psychotic reaction to seroquel too!!! that drug really sucks!

  • @AishaMolly I agree, seroquel definitely was NOT for me.

  • Hang in there ppl and keep fighting. alot of the stories i hear are about bad experiences with antipsychotic drugs but i tell you what if this was a hundred years ago nobody would complain then

  • @superbrat87 I don't think it's all antipsychotics that are bad. I'm on zyprexa now, and it works great. It's just weird how each med affects each person differently.

  • Our son is bipolar 1 and olanzapine quetiapine and aripriprozal made him a lot worse. Depakote and carbamazepine did not stop the mania, but Risperidone does at 2/3mg it is anti manic at 4/5 anti psychotic but at 0.5mg serotoninergic

When he was 17 Citalopram made him

    Psychotic.

  • I'd fuck you.

  • I grew up being hyperactive and dealing with severe psychotic manic episodes every summer because the daylight made me manic and the 2 best meds to help me for 20+ years are Depakote and Ritalin or one of the amphetamines. Antipsychotics help me short term if I am acute but I will start with the "approval" technicality drama to taper off when I am stable. Risperdal was miserable. I know what to have them give me to stay stable and have a pdoc that rx's right...

  • @MrSpemat as far as manic episodes and psychosis, laugh at it and brag about it to people that feel bad about their flaws, they will respect you and laugh with you... I grew up with this shit, to me it is not close to a migraine or diarrhea in suffering... and being manic and robbing a Chinese coke dealer for a half ounce and jumping off of an 8" roof and hearing "we are the champions" as I flipped him off and ran, is funny to me and a shame at the same time... makes for good comedy...

  • @MrSpemat That's good to have a helpful doc who knows what they are doing.

  • @calligraphish Wow that sounds like a really terrible experience! I'm sorry you had to go through that.

  • I'm completely fucking pissed off and agitated at myself. STOP IT ALREADY!! I'm completely compelled to sit here watching your videos over and over and over even though they are all making me cry. WTF is wrong with me?! But... It's me... on my computer screen.... just good to hear I, well we, are not alone :)

  • @torylee24 You are certainly not alone, so don't feel too bad!

  • ...... Like you said in your video, I'm not able to tell whether it's just the mood currently or the meds. So needless to say, I am pretty scared. I just want things to get better. I myself have experienced the "sensory overload" that youspoke of in another video. It tends to happen quite frequently. During these times, I'm extremely irritable and just not "myself"...whoever myself is. lol Anyway, take care.

  • I first and foremost just wanted to say how incredibly brave you are for doing these videos. I was recently diagnosed with Rapid Cycling Biplar disorder as well, I am on a medication called Divalproex, not sure whther you've heard of it or not, but so far I can't really tell how it's working.

  • @jaylenemurphy Hmmm I've never heard of that med before. DO you know if it is a new drug?

  • They are not medication "meds" they are chemicals or drugs. I take them too. Medication is like cough syrup or aspirin. Also I think your doctor should not be giving you anti psychotic drugs but instead mood stabilizer and anti-depressants.

Just my opinion as I am not a doctor but I have had to take these drugs for over 15 years. They are dangerous too, just barely passing the FDA standards for safety. Don't take the junk they advertise on TV either. Be well and think good thoughts. icebear

  • @ice2010bear So far the antipsychotic meds are the only ones I have tried that work for me. The label, whether bipolar, schizoaffective, schizophrenic, etc, is less important than finding the meds that work for you personally.

  • im diagnosed type 2 bipolar thought im certain i have had multiple manic episodes when i was younger but my parents were too oblivious to mental illness that i never received help. Recently i read an article describing adhd symptoms and visited a psychiatrist for help because i cannot concentrate in school at all, turns out i have bipolar but i refuse to take any meds. I have developed so many mental strategies to escape depression episodes (before i realized it was switching poles)

  • @Eric1Cire1 Well I hope you are doing alright without the meds. I wish I could go without meds but I know I would just become manic again if I went off them.

  • You have Big & Beautiful Eyes!! =]

  • @dgenerated Thank you :)

  • I like you r videos! I just started taking seroquel for phychotic depression

  • @ThePerfectbutterfly Thank you. I hope your meds are working out well for you.

  • you know they say your bi polar... it's like a fad or something. idk but the docs have tried me on lamictal and it made me very violent... and seroquell made me crazy as well. now I'm on the highest dose of nuerontin allowed and it helps for a while but your body builds an immunity to it quickly.. it's temporary relief. now i gots to find something else and it's scary.

  • @1981berserker I think its a matter of finding the right meds for you. I am finally on a med that works and I am very thankful for that.

  • Hi just wondering if I could get your advice on something. I went to the docs cause I thought something wasn't right. They sent me to be assessed because they thought I might be bipolar but I lied about a few things because I didn't want them to lock me up or anything. I have a new job and don't feel "mentally ill" but sometimes things get out of control. Now I feel like I've blown my chance to get help. If I told them the truth, would they be able to keep me in hospital against my will? Thanks

  • @princeofthemods69 It's never too late to get help. If you tell your provider about what is going on, they are not going to force you to go to the hospital. There is a whole legal process to go through in order to commit someone against their will, so it is not something that is done lightly. It only occurs if the provider feels you are a threat to yourself or others. I think if you feel you do need help that you try again to be seen, and be truthful about what you are going through.

  • thank you for all your uploads

  • are you wearing a bra over your shirt,

  • @aaronamccoy LOL no I am wearing a tank top over my shirt.

  • I am Schizoaffective (Schizophrenia and Bi Polar II Mix) I no longer take any meds and just manage my illness via You Tube therapy i.e. Vlogging, and being physically active as much as possible, watching my triggers and etc. Meds made me nearly comatose, sexually dysfunctional and left me feeling generally drugged. So I don't fuck with them period. I do however realize that for some people that they work amazingly so I think that it is a case by case thing. I love your work check my page out2

  • @soymiguelalejandro23 I'm amazed that some people can manage without meds and definitely admire that. I'd like to try going without meds but I am scared of having a relapse. On the other hand I don't want to take meds for the rest of my life. It's a tough decision.

  • @BipolarStateofBeing It is a struggle either way I think - unless one is fortunate enough to have either no symptoms or ones that are very easy to live with. That group is the smallest one of all.

  • I am absolutely in love with my medications but I have GAD as well as panic disorder. :P Being bipolar sounds like a helluva trip. I'm sorry.

  • @Cannoddin I was diagnosed with GAD as a teenager...I'm not sure what my current therapists take on it is, whether she thinks I have it or not. I think I do. I definitely have major issues with anxiety, GAD or not. Combined with the bipolar, it really sucks!

  • @BipolarStateofBeing Hey, I like your channel and videos...Don't really know what I have right now though. -.-

I am seeing the doc next week, I just got out of a depressed state people can read my mind...I also hear voices telling me to "Jump out the window" then I say shut up they just get louder and louder then they stop for a week but then I went into another depressed state then started seeing shadows but they are 3D and talk to me....I NEED MEDICATION......I think...Anyways good vid.

  • @TheNerdsPlace Thanks for watching, sorry to hear you are having a tough time, definitely need to see your doctor and hope it all goes well for you!

  • It bothers me I have to take meds. It bothers me everyone else does not. I'm pissed off I have issues. And to top it off it costs me money.

  • I'm on topiramate and I feel buzzing and deep thinking . I am a very deep thinker though, : I just started on Meds by the way it feels awsome. I'm BP type I.
