I love Queen and their songs from 70's-90's! As others would say,I don't think Queen ever compromised their taste for music for money whatsoever. They just evolved. It's genius that they covered a lot of genres of music while still giving it a Queen flavor. As Freddie would say..

"I hate doing the same things over and over again. I want to see what's happening now and try to incorporate that forms into Queen."

Freddie Mercury was a GOD however, lest we forget, Queen’s music went precipitously downhill in the late 70’s! From classics such as Liar, Killer Queen, and The Prophet’s Song, to shit such as Radio Gaga. Etc!

In fairness, they were not the only band that succumbed to the pressures of the music executives! Jethro Tull was another major player that went from champs to chumps in that period! But I digress …

Freddie has a heavy chain smoker during the 80's. his voices improved towards the end. Listen to Barcelona,Scandel,i'm going slightly mad ect from The Miracle and Innuendo. :)

Freddie s voice was still holding good in 1983 recorded Break Free but compare that incredible voice to Dellah from Innuendo which is just terrible. I agree with previous post that it was increasingly muffled.

hey.. freddie still reaches high notes after 82, though mostly without falsetto..and he reached one of his highest live in 1985 or '86!! but well, yeah still his voice in the 70s is much better..but FREDDIE IS FREDDIE!!!!

he didnt really do anything in the 70s other than the music - by 1980s he had come out of the closet and was actively attending gay clubs where drug taking and smoking were the norm. i dont have a problem with that but any queen fan must be aware that his voice suffered as a result. the 70s recordings and live shows had a voice that was crystal clear and a range that could go very high without breaking up. after 82 he didnt even attempt some of the high notes and the style had got rougher.

Thank you so much for this rarity. They were interesting to watch in interviews, Freddie was often caustic and a little unpredictable ( eg his quip 'yes let's break up tomorrow') The others could be relied upon to show the more 'cuddly' side of Queen. Great mix of personalities.
