Here's something you'd never hear someone say: I like all three games. Stop saying one game is better than another. The only way a game could be the best game is if every gamer in the world loved that game.
Melee and Brawl are like SSFIV and SF3TS. The only difference is, you don't see 3rd strike people "bitching" about IV. Everytime somebody makes a ts video people don't start commenting about how much better this is. They talk about the match instead. if you search while third strike is better than IV you see nothing but ts matches. If you search why melee is better than brawl, there quickly come 13 matches of it up... I like smash brothers most, but definitively hate sb fanboy's the most.

Anyways, (and the only thing u showed here) i like more the opening from melee cause its really well done in movies, styles of perspectives and its original, from difference of brawl that they only recopilated videos from the story mode and the gameplay. And in ssb 64 its cool too, cause its really the first essence of whatll come after, so nothing to say xD

Melee is faster, has difficult combo's, and it has more advanced and difficult ATs. All those things increase the skill gap between a bad and a good player. There are players that think this is fun, because it makes Melee challenging. If you don't like a challenging game Brawl is better for you.

And I would say I am an average Melee player, but I don't do the fancy tricks others do. I still have a blast playing it, though. Just because one game is harder to master does not make it superior. If the best Melee player played the worst, the worst wouldn't have fun. Since Brawl is easier, there is a wider audience to enjoy the game. They're both good.
@whopperjunior197 Brawl can't provide the challenge that real gamers desire. Real gamers crave the kind of competition that Melee is filled with. Melee is a masterpiece it's nicely balanced in defence and offensive, unlike the camping shit in Brawl. Melee requires fast techskill and fast thinking, unlike Brawl which is slow and boring as hell. Smash Bros is my favorite series, but if the next Smash Bros is for noobs like Brawl I might not even buy it.

In your logic a game with 2 characters that are balanced would be better than one with 20 characters where the top 8 are in balance. I love Brawl. They put famous video game characters like Sonic and Snake, music is great, graphics improved since Melee and add much more. What I don't is the gay-ass tripping and much more aggresive fighters when they have the smash ball hunting the player. Melee not much to say. It takes too damn long to unlock a character and the cloned fighters are aweful. What I like about is the music and Event missions. Original. Ah, that brings back so many memories. What I don't like about that game is.

Brawl : 8/10 This one is Ok , less clones , Music was Ok (hate the rap though , I like the FD theme and SSB credits) , easier to have fun , dont like the online though .

Everyone has its opinion about the gameplay and graphics and has its different way to play the SSB serie. That's what Nintendo wants to; he wants us to have FUN while playing. They added new things in SSBB? It's to make the game FUNNIER, and maybe not to just make it BETTER. Example, in reply to some comments below, Final Smashes aren't for ussies. Even though it seems to be a crime now, I still prefer Brawl over Melee. I just think it... feels better, somehow. And I love the new characters (Olimar FTW). :]
And graphics do matter, as video games are a visual medium, but only to an extent. If the game looks insanely good but plays like hell, it's still a bad game. The best games find the right balance between the two, something which most developers don't seem to get nowadays.
Ya all got it wrong ... it's not the the physics, or the graphics, that matter ... it's the announcer screaming "SUUUUUUUUUUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAAAAWL!" - that is, what's really missing in this game.
I like Brawl the most Melee and 64 are great too. Heck I know how do Advance Techs in Smash no problem. It just my preference since I just feel there more to do in Brawl than the other two games. It really doesn't matter I love Smash Bros. Its fun for people.
Personally, I like Brawl best, because I never mastered Melee's advanced techniques, and as well as being the best looking, Brawl introduced some fun new characters. I love Olimar and The Pokemon Trainer.
i agree the graphics dont mean nothing besides the gameplay and they redid the effects of the items or added more to make it more fun and gave them more taunts and a final smash which almost 60% of all of them sucked and are easy to dodge and what sucked was that the kicked out roy the others were bad i get that but roy was good why didnt they let him stay and have three fire eblem characters and brawl is okay if it wasnt for all the hacking in it

SSB 64: Very good opening, but I don't like how they showed the secret characters at the end.
Melee: Amazing, almost perfect. Not much to say now.
Brawl: I didn't like it. Even though they made their own song in a different language. They put mostly adventure mode cutscenes in the opening. That's just lazy.
There's no reason to argue about which game is better. People will always try to find a flaw in a game they don't like, just to make another game look better. I personally like Brawl better because I'm not a hardcore competitive player (I live way out in the boonies, so no Wi-Fi for me) so I'd rather have more characters and great basic gameplay.
When I first bought melee 5 years ago in august, I LIVED THE GAME, no other game has done that but melee (but melee isn't my favourite game though) but when I played brawl at my cousin's house, it didn't give me that feeling, it was way too sluggish and floaty plus FS take the fun away of killing the opponent and a lot more stuff, there are some awesome stuff in there and it's still great but melee destroys it IMO.
Nah, not really. The Super Smash series was never intended to be a competitive multiplayer series (really, the developer said it himself), and Brawl has more "fun". So whilst it may be technically flawed, I love it to death anyway.

I like 64's intro mostly for nostalgic reasons. It also does well to encapsulate that original concept for Smash Bros. which was to bring characters from all different dimensions and pit them against one another in epic battles.
It annoys me when people base a game on their graphics. Sure, graphics can make a game look nice, but what it all boils down to is the gameplay. SSB64 had this series started, like it or not. Melee continued what SSB started and changed it a bit and added some better graphics. Brawl, on the other hand, completely changed most the fun qualities that SSB64 and Melee had. Loss of most advanced techs, more characters (some of them being the cheapest ever), and really crappy stages.

1. Characters are too floaty for my liking.
2. Multiple Airdodging in one jump.
3. And Captain Falcon's Knee got nerfed hardcore. I can hardly land that anymore.
For the last point, I prefer stages that are more stationary than one's that you need to worry about keeping up with it just to stay alive. If they could make a game like Melee, but with the graphics of Brawl, I would love it.

melee in my opinion is in a way easier than brawl because all you have to do is basically L-cancel, wavedash ext, all it takes to master it is mindless tech skill. Brawl however you really have to out think your opponent and outplay them to win, its also getting more and more pro everyday with techs such as glide tossing, dacus, advanced mindgames, glitches, tricks ext...

If you honestly ask me, Melee was the worst game out of the series. The action was too fast-paced, the characters come off as clones, and there was hardly anything improved in single player from 64. SSB 64 FTW

Back the f*ck up , my opinion and rating of Smash games :
SSB64 : 10/10 got the series started, I like the entire soundtrack
Melee : -10/10 Piece of shit , symbolizes what's wrong with The Smash fanbase , responsible for creatting the idiots you see in SmashBoards , YouTube and everywhere else , also most of the music was "meh"(Especially the rap) with only few good music. The game's price should now be lower than $15 because it's less worth than that . Continued ....

Everyone has its opinion about the gameplay and graphics and has its different way to play the SSB serie. That's what Nintendo wants to; he wants us to have FUN while playing. They added new things in SSBB? It's to make the game FUNNIER, and maybe not to just make it BETTER. Example, in reply to some comments below, Final Smashes aren't for ussies. They are for REAL gamers who plays for fun, not to only compete. SSB is the best serie ever. You all got that point in common, why do you all fight

Even though it seems to be a crime now, I still prefer Brawl over Melee. I just think it... feels better, somehow. And I love the new characters (Olimar FTW). :]
And graphics do matter, as video games are a visual medium, but only to an extent. If the game looks insanely good but plays like hell, it's still a bad game. The best games find the right balance between the two, something which most developers don't seem to get nowadays.

I like Brawl the most Melee and 64 are great too. Heck I know how do Advance Techs in Smash no problem. It just my preference since I just feel there more to do in Brawl than the other two games. It really doesn't matter I love Smash Bros. Its fun for people.

Personally, I like Brawl best, because I never mastered Melee's advanced techniques, and as well as being the best looking, Brawl introduced some fun new characters. I love Olimar and The Pokemon Trainer.

i agree the graphics dont mean nothing besides the gameplay and they redid the effects of the items or added more to make it more fun and gave them more taunts and a final smash which almost 60% of all of them sucked and are easy to dodge and what sucked was that the kicked out roy the others were bad i get that but roy was good why didnt they let him stay and have three fire eblem characters and brawl is okay if it wasnt for all the hacking in it

crossfaderage@ Sure the graphics are different, but thats hardly the point. Brawl has so many more game-play styles than melee or N64, and the only thing besides that I can think of the difference being is that you cant hack to play as masterhand or crazyhand in brawl.

SSB 64: Very good opening, but I don't like how they showed the secret characters at the end.
Melee: Amazing, almost perfect. Not much to say now.
Brawl: I didn't like it. Even though they made their own song in a different language. They put mostly adventure mode cutscenes in the opening. That's just lazy.

There's no reason to argue about which game is better. People will always try to find a flaw in a game they don't like, just to make another game look better. I personally like Brawl better because I'm not a hardcore competitive player (I live way out in the boonies, so no Wi-Fi for me) so I'd rather have more characters and great basic gameplay.

When I first bought melee 5 years ago in august, I LIVED THE GAME, no other game has done that but melee (but melee isn't my favourite game though) but when I played brawl at my cousin's house, it didn't give me that feeling, it was way too sluggish and floaty plus FS take the fun away of killing the opponent and a lot more stuff, there are some awesome stuff in there and it's still great but melee destroys it IMO.

Nah, not really. The Super Smash series was never intended to be a competitive multiplayer series (really, the developer said it himself), and Brawl has more "fun". So whilst it may be technically flawed, I love it to death anyway.

they say melee is for pros, well all of them have their hard points brawl is NOT a party game because its single player is too hardcore.
they actually made a few things harder in brawl
footstool jumps, you can jump on another character's head to stop them from getting back to the stage.
stale move negation is much more potent and will weaken you overtime

I like 64's intro mostly for nostalgic reasons. It also does well to encapsulate that original concept for Smash Bros. which was to bring characters from all different dimensions and pit them against one another in epic battles.

It annoys me when people base a game on their graphics. Sure, graphics can make a game look nice, but what it all boils down to is the gameplay. SSB64 had this series started, like it or not. Melee continued what SSB started and changed it a bit and added some better graphics. Brawl, on the other hand, completely changed most the fun qualities that SSB64 and Melee had. Loss of most advanced techs, more characters (some of them being the cheapest ever), and really crappy stages.

@smashbrosdojo3 Okay, Brawl isn't THAT bad, but the one thing that really annoys me in that game are:
1. Characters are too floaty for my liking.
2. Multiple Airdodging in one jump.
3. And Captain Falcon's Knee got nerfed hardcore. I can hardly land that anymore.
For the last point, I prefer stages that are more stationary than one's that you need to worry about keeping up with it just to stay alive. If they could make a game like Melee, but with the graphics of Brawl, I would love it.

melee in my opinion is in a way easier than brawl because all you have to do is basically L-cancel, wavedash ext, all it takes to master it is mindless tech skill. Brawl however you really have to out think your opponent and outplay them to win, its also getting more and more pro everyday with techs such as glide tossing, dacus, advanced mindgames, glitches, tricks ext...
