When using .AVI files, does this unit break the file up into chapters - so that it can be watched like a DVD using the FF function thru each chapter ??
What typ eof Hard Drive are you using??You dont seem to have any lag between swithching screens where most of the other videos look like there is a 3-4 second wait to load next screen of thumbnails.
In the video they are mp4, but since the update now supports thumbnails on other files i would go with another format like iso, so you can rip the movie at full quality.
You can dump a bunch of files in one folder or create a bunch of different folders like kids movies, horror , or things like that and when u turn on your player go to browse folders u should see all the folders youve created.
I have 600 files and a kid age 8. I would like him to handle the files by himself. Do all the files end up in one folder(thats hopeless if it`s so) or can I create 26 files named A,B,C,...and dump the files in the right folder?
I have 600 files. I would like my kid age 8 to handle his movies by himself. He knows the alphabet. Can I create 26 files, A,B,C.. and dump the files in its folder or does the wd tv only handle all-in-one-file?
You dont have to make a folder for each movie, you can make a single folder, then dump all your movies and cover art into that folder as long as the pictures are named exactly as the movie file.
Your statement about only showing jpegs in MP4 format is wrong ...
To get files to show a thumbnail, you just have to rename a jpg to the exact same filename as the movie. So movie.bluray.x264.mkv would have a thumnail in the same folder of movie.bluray.x264.jpg and show up for that file.
before the new update the only format that would show thumbnails was mp4 that was when i made this video, so now, like you said you can show thumnails in any format.

do you have to make a folder for each movie and add a cover art to that folder along inside with the movie?
You have to convert your movies to mp4 beacause WDTV only displays thumbnails in that format, theres many programs to use, i use DVDfab, then after you have converted the movie use a program like iTunes to add your cover art. if you want detailed info you can give me your email.

what about MKV files? Do I have to convert that into mp4?

Nice Video! I love the fact that you can add the cover art and displays like my Netflix.
So can this read ISO movies? I have several movies and some are AVI, MKV and ISOs. I wasn't sure if it would play all of those.
Thanks for the video too.

in the folder u store your movies, copy the album art into that folder, and rename it the same as the movie you want it to go to.
