  • Get the casio fx-991es it does literally everything

  • 6 unlucky people don't have brains.

  • I think I just learned 3 hours of math in 5 minutes. The book is so confusing with the definitions they give. Thank you so much.

  • dnt-lik-dis-comment

  • If anyone knows, please tell me which video that introduces the number e!

  • I pressed 357 and I didn't get bbbmbmbmbmb

  • watching

  • i have log base B to the power of A (log B^A) button in my calculator :D

  • I cracked up at 6:18 and 6:30 xD

  • thanks champ

  • this is a good memory refresher :D

  • this is really useful! why cant all teachers teach like this??

  • I didn't understand the end, but this was VERY helpful. Thank you!

  • buddy i think u r doing good by these videos to the whole world

  • Anyone knows how to simplify this ..

    ln (x) + ln (12x - 7e) = 2 + ln10

    how to split this

  • @Drummer8nimation Nvm i got it , thanks :)

  • you are god

  • u go bada bada bam! xD

    btw best teacher ever :D

  • I can hear you smiling when you do these videos. So passionate, I think that's why these videos are super effective.

  • I really appreciate these video's. I live in South Africa. I went to school here, and dropped maths and science. But then once I left school I decided to become a mechanical engineer. But you need maths and science for it. So I have had to teach myself maths and science. with your videos, you have helped me achieve an A average for maths, and a B average for science. Indirectly, you have helped me get into Engineering. So thanks alot Khan. From South Africa :)

  • Who needs school when you got this?

  • If I pass my IB math this year, it is certainly not due to my math teacher, but to these video's :)

  • I was sick for 2 weeks so this really helps me catch up. Thank you for your videos! I wish I could say that I would be using this later on in my life but idk how far math will apply in art college lol

  • thanx!

    keep posting more !!!!

  • omg this does not help me at all. are you srs!

  • @fayseelai stop being a fucking troll

  • @radioactivify how? it's true that it didn't help me.

  • Great video, very helpful. Thanks for doing a problem with rewriting a log with a square root equation.

  • The point of math for me is to pass my tests T.T

  • Great vid, really clear. I already knew this, but it's great review. Sometimes I stare at a problem and forget the first steps and watching videos like this help me recall what to do when in doubt :)

  • Thanks!

  • i get it. So this is the Change of Base Law right

  • i dont get this one bit wtf wtf wtf

  • This video is extremely unclear, that would be great if you could redo it.

  • @MixesAndStuff

I agree. I don't understand how this is pre algebra. I don't understand what are it's implications and applications.

  • the fractions at the very end made no sense at all.

  • yeor pinga para tuy culo

  • I Love how he ended the movie... "see you soon!"

  • starting at 7:31 i got confused. :(

  • this is Pre-Algebra? what the F

  • @shallbeknown its algebra 2. also part of pre calculus.

  • What's your job?

  • "You'd have to switch to your yellow color to act with confidence"

  • I love 1:36

  • I just love a teacher who thinks out loud like you! A lot of teachers don't do that because they dont' want to feel stupid in front of their students. They don't realize that they can gain their students' confidence in them that way, plus it is a good humor when you are thinking out loud and end up on something funny.

  • I can't find the logarithm intuition video! Any help would be VERY much appreciated :)

  • for a second i got confused between the words algorithms and logarithms..LOL !

  • @uralegend987 anagrams...

  • im still wondering what e stands for

  • These videos are great for working ahead and at your own pace rather than waiting for the teacher. Great videos!

  • Lets see if I have .......

    I dont know... lol

  • you are the king khan

  • I was tripping balls on the last question but danke sehn.

  • I understand how you got 1/4 by distributing 1/2 to 1/2, but why don't you distribute 1/2 to log2^8 (i.e 3)? If log2^8 is in some way distributed by 1/2 then why is the 1/2 in front of log2^8 the only thing that's affected?

  • @socrstreets Same reason why (1/2)(x) is (1/2)(x). or (1/2)(2x) is x

  • You forget to invert colors r8..You do it in almost every vid.....Awesome

  • dont think wrong i am new to logarithms ur better than my teachers but i have a doudt my teacher told that in logarithms negatives wont com.plzz clarify my doudt

  • "you have to switch to your yellow color, to act with confidence".. lol

  • because of u i now have a slight chance of passing the math b regents.

  • lol "You would have to switch to your yellow colour, in order to act with confidence."

  • ahhhh these videos are SUCH A GREAT HELP! thank you!

  • They are. Each unit bigger than a byte is equal to the previous unit times 1024.

  • I have been to every site imaginable looking for a decent logarithmic explanation, as I am cramming for a CLEP exam that I thought would be a piece of cake, lol. This is by far the best explanation I've seen! Thank you so much for your wonderful teaching methods! Great voice btw ; )

  • Thanks for posting this! I would have failed Math 130, were it not for this video!

  • u have a point that u wont walk down the street thinking of logs of a rock. however if u memorize, u will pass the exam, then forget. if u understand how each property is derived, then it will help u significantly when u are in other math classes.

  • the point of math is to pass exams.. when would you actually use this stuff later on in life..? only certain occupations require this stuff, and im not going to walk down the street and say "oh wait, let me find the log of this rock", because that would be stupid. other than that, you did help with my math homework.

  • @SeanRonaldo7 logarithms help people understand carbon dating and how long ago people have lived from fossils. it lets us figure out how old trees can be without having to cut them down and count the rings. and even if ur not gonna do this in the future, know that others will

  • @lakersfanfor3va i understand that dude, thats why i said certain occupations actually use this nonsense. im just saying why make everyone learn what only a select few will end up using, this goes for many other topics in math.

  • @SeanRonaldo7 gotchya

  • hehe kinda agree mainly because i hate math, its so boring and hard... but i would admit these vids are a great help

  • It would be awesome if you could post some videos on Quantitative Methods part of CFA Level I Exam...

  • Damn, the last one messed my head up

  • its been a life changing experience! i even lost a few pounds concentrating...slim fast mathematics

  • I've had some great math teachers in my life, but none of them have made learning as intuitive as you. Thanks so much, I needed to review logarithms for calculus and this made it simple.

  • YOU SAVED MY LIFE !!!!

  • yea man. your videos are great

    MATH EXAM PASSED! lol

  • if anything was better than waffles

    it would be you

infact, you are better than waffles

  • You are THE BEST! We're having a test this week, and this video is going to save my future. Well, not that I'm over reacting :D THANK YOU!

  • I love you.

  • thanks man!!!! you are amazing!!!! i understand you much better then my math teacher ( shes kinda, idk, she cant explain shit ) and my native language isn't english!!!!! damn, im so happy!!!

  • este huevon hubiera ganado el premio nobel de la paz, no el imbecil de obama

  • si

    garzias

  • ooo just got it hahhahah :P:P

    no need for an answer

p.s : SIR YOU ARE TOTALLY AMAZING thank you ...:)

  • can i ask a stupid question :$:$

from where did you get (5/2) and (-3/4) ?

  • At the end of the presentation, you will see log(2)32 [2 as the base], 5 is the power of 2, since 32 is another wise express as 2^5.

    Same for the other

  • Logs are new to me but your videos have really really helped me understand. Ur better than the teachers!!

    Thanks a lot mate

    keep it up

  • Despite english is not my native language, I understand you more than any other teacher I ve ever met...you are abslolutely amazing. Thank you so much Salman =)

  • oh man, it's 1am the morning of my exam. your video mixed with lots of coffee has helped me learn my entire unit in 2 hours! thanks!

  • Dude, your are the BEST. Keep it out mate.

  • Great! The change of base formula will definitely come in handy one of these days. Thanks

  • omg this stands in every formulary....

  • does anybody here, like his voice too? xD

  • he does have a very warm voice... it draws you in.

  • thanx a lot,really really helpful

  • Thanks. I pretty much feel like I can tackle any log question now.

  • im lost on the second part??

  • Are you asking if you're lost?

  • Thank you so much! You explained it way better than my Algebra 2 teacher did by far. He didn't even really teach us, just gave us a packet to do.

  • @NickGf thats because teachers are lazy

  • @NickGf Teachers who do that should not be teachers at all in my eyes, especially with math. Math can be a mostly visual learning process to understand new concepts. And THAT'S why Khan is where it's at!

  • Good video :D

  • thank you!

  • thank you very helpful. great teacher

  • I think 512 and 1024 are important in Computer Science too, though I'm not positive.

I haven't started the course yet; all i do is answer phones at the Internet Help Desk.

  • You're correct. This is because computers use a binary number system (versus decimal) so if you have 8 digits, you can represent 256 numbers; if you have 9 digits, then 512 and if you have 10, then 1024

  • @khanacademy if you could perhaps make a computer science playlist sometime in the future, that would be awesome. also, i wonder where the proofs videos are that you referred to in this video. thank you so much. this site is awesome.

  • @khanacademy hi Sal, I was wondering how you have occasion to use logarithms in your job (I presume your hedge fund job). I've allocated capital in stocks & options, and I've not seen use of logarithms before. thanks.

  • i have another question: what if i want to solve log (base 17) 357 without using a calculator? How do i change the base?

  • change of base formula is log of 357 over log of 17. I don't know how to do it without a calculator but i hope that helps.

  • hi can anyone help me with this question, how do i solve log (base 10) 5 w/o using a cal.

  • you can put it in exponantail form

  • You are going to heaven

  • Wow. YouTube + Education? Who knew. I might make this one of my first stops for homework help in the future!

  • Fantastic. This is so helpful for people having to learn math from a book with minimal worked examples.

  • you could be a maht teacher at a privet school and get paid loads. You're definatly good enough for it :D Youre a great teacher!

  • way better than my teacher, thaNk!S!!

  • my teacher sucks, and i think he pretty much knows that, im doing logs now, thanks for the vid, veryyyy helpful

  • uh yeah you're explanations are much more reliable than my teacher's, much thanks!

  • thank you. you rock

  • thank you so so much, i haven't taken a math class for two years and really needed to catch up

  • I agree...you are better than my high school teacher

  • Awesome, you're so much better than my teacher.. <3
