those movements they made they released blasts of energy to destroy a planet, but they opened a black hole there first to release the energy to another planet very far away
This has got to be the most epic battle scene ever?!, The way Squire walks up to Howe to pick a fight, then Howe defends his teratory and protects his young from the predator Squire....at the end it leaves Squire now choice but to retreat and go off to his pack!, amazing!, this could make an amazing documentary!!!
Two legendary goof-balls. Those "punk-rockers" who think prog-rockers take themselves so seriously should get a three-chord progression up their arse.
I'm a garage punk rocker myself, but I really enjoy Yes albums (say '69-'77)... in fact I discovered psychedelic/garage music when finding out where Yes 'came from' (The Syn, Bodast, Mabel Greer's Toyshop, Syndicats, Tomorrow - you name it).
IMO it's not the bands that took/take themselves so seriously - I mean, Rick Wakeman throwing in Jingle Bells doing his solo spot (in 1973!). Or take "Circus Of Heaven" on the Tormato album, I mean...
Prog FANS however can be terribly pretentious, OK?
Who you yellin' at? I agree. It's usually the fans of said genres who take themselves seriously. Nary the musicians themselves. I love Discharge and ELP and Anti-Nowhere League and Van Der Graaf Generator, etc.
My point is, punks in the '70s were sooo "open-minded" that most would not tolerate anyone who was proficient in their instrument. Prog-rockers with virtuosity-fetishes and punks with purist-attitudes are cunts - is the thrust of my cocky-comment. I was a bit to ambiguous.
Haha during the Yesymphonic DVD Squire tries to play with Howe like this and Howe totally in a kind of bodily "fuck off" gesture. It's nice to see him interacting positively with other people for once.
winterafternoon (3 weeks ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam There's some quite rude comments here, would you say these things to their faces?
Yes, lets face it,they would'nt put up much of a chase
We've all noticed Chris's girth - I at least have been saddened by it. I hope he'll be with us as long as if he was still ins shape - he does completely dwarf the Rick now (as to Lake, he's ballooned too).
If the instruments grew commensurate with their size, many '70's rockers would now be behind 4x8 sheets of plywood
Haha I loved Steve when I went to see Yes! He made me laugh like hell considering how stoned I was. Considering doing crazy things, I was yelling at Oliver Wakeman, consistently telling him to do a crazy keyboard solo and telling him he's the man/god between songs.
I dunno either haha, that was a killer concert though, i feel sorry for all those who missed their tour dates due to mr. squire's leg surgery, they played stuff from DRAMA!
Sadly...after the Ascension sessions- I thought he was dying...I don't know why but he looks 90, and he looked great in 1996, even with Dream Theater in 1990 in an impromptu he looked ok. I fear for him, and Rick is not bothering with the new tour- so kiss that goodbye- YES I fear- is done.
Very cool! In all the years that I've seen YES live (from 1974 onward) Chris Squire has never gotten that close to Steve Howe before. Was Chris going through his 'Elvis' period? Looks a little podgy- but hey he's a bass guitar icon!

If you look closely, Chris stops playing for a split second to notion for the little duel to begin, and Steve jerked back. It was planned.
Maybe there has been prior talk of them never interacting on stage...
