  • a very special band led by a master of his craft

  • Who was playing lead trumpet?

  • Yeah, I think I like this version much better :-)

  • Astonishing stuff. Makes it work, doesn't he?

  • Kenton did this after the pop hit version of this by Brazilian leader Deodato, but this chart is light years better than that one.

  • @pindaric procol harem used to do 2001 along with saber dance live but never released a record of it deep purple did then there was elvis playeing it everytime he went on stage which must have become annoying

  • Kenton Rocks!!!

  • The Genius of Kenton. He brought Big Band Jazz as close to Classical music as possible. We certainly miss him and the rest [Woody,Buddy, Maynard, Count, The Duke etc.]

  • Is the drummer Peter Erskine?

  • Sure is.

  • Yes he is.

  • The band in about 1973 playing a Dale Devoe score-good stuff and as usual Stan was always one musical step ahead of the competition. Thanks for posting this.

  • I wonder what Richard Strauss would have thought of this? I think he would approve, since the director was Stan
