@vq5gc3 Peter Armitage - he plays Bill Webster on Coronation Street. We dated over forty years ago when he still looked like he does on the commercial!
I remember an old friend of mine. He watched this on loop for 16 hours then sadly did himself in, apparently his mother came in to see him swinging from the ceiling to the last 5 seconds of the advert, the bit which goes - papapapapapappa.
These Yellow pages ads from the 80s were excellent, I wish I could find the one where the boy buys the toy signal box for his dad's railways layout in the loft!
Yep, my brother has been trying to track that train track ad down for ages. Him & his mates at work were having a bit of a "debate" one day as to what the bloke says to the kid in the shop. I remember it word for word...kid says "do you have an R186 signal box?" shop bloke says "yeah I think we've got one left" LOL. My bro was saying that he says "yeah I think we've got one left" & his mates were all saying he didn't, so he was trying to find it to prove himself right. Still looking for it :-D
1983 - same year as JR Hartley, and two years before Bill Webster first arrived in Coronation Street!

At the end he says "I were right to suck off the dandy cock of Mr Willy Carson and his troupe of narcisistic page boys"
Just in case anyone wondered.

Ha ha! I think I can remember the words myself (I'm was roughly the same age as that boy when the ad was screened):
Boy: You know the Hornby 00 model railway?
Man: Yes.
Boy: Do you have the R186 signal box?
Man: Yes I've got one there.
Boy: Great! They've got one mum!
I'm pretty sure I've got that right! Hope that helps.
