I agree completely with what many other people have already said...the lyrics of this song are perfectly suited to the Brandon/Marianne relationship. The only change I might make is that I would have liked to see clips from the 1995 film as well. Personally, I like that version better since it's more faithful to the original novel. Marianne considers Brandon a good friend when she marries him, nothing more...but she "could never love by halves" and eventually falls in love with him.

@susieboo34 Why? His version of Brandon is simpky different. I do like Rickman but I think I preferred this sioftened version of Brandon and I certainly preferred this Marianne. The adaptation was very nicely done.

Just been watching the new series on see saw and while I liked Alan Rickamn, I think Col in this new adaptation has so muh more sebnsitivity about him. I dare not mention other cast. This is a gar better adaption and was much eeded. I glad I was finally abvle to see it and thius us a fine video too.

Colonel Brandon and Marianne make a lovely couple, and I really enjoyed watching the video, I have now got it on DVD. And the actor David Morrissey is my favourite actor, and he is truly gorgeous and amazing as ever.

This is truly a beautiful song. I have listened to it over and over again. Don't listen to those who say this song doesn't go with this video, though it isn't British, it still goes well with the feelings of the characters. It makes you feel for them more. Nicely done.

I am so sorry but i thought this song was completely unsuitable to the context of the movie.

It is an english, 19th century romatic, not a 21st century french club film. nice choice of clips. bad choice of music.

well, if you think so, you can, everybody can have his own opinion about such things, it's a question of taste. I thought it would suit because the guy wants to help the girl to forget her ex-boyfriend just like Colonel Brandon tries to help Marianne. and I didn't care a lot about the music, but about the lyrics.

I think the story transcends any cultural edict. How is setting these scenes to this piece of music any different than the MANY Jane Austen videos on YouTube set to contemporary music - pop/rock 'n' roll - English, American, etc?

Very true, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the music on those clips is also suitable. I think it is a great risk using such music and i am in complete admiration of that but i think this particular song was a little ill-chosen. However the clip itself was gorgeous.
