I'm selling my light blue 1985 Olds Ciera, has 85k miles and in great condition. No interior defects, a couple small rust spots approximately the size of a quarter, and one small ding on the truck about the size of a nickle. Message me if u want more info/details.
Olds is dead because of there last few crapy cars like the Alero under which I am currently suffering. Comercial makes me miss the 80's, before tv and society and culture, schools, and everything was all messed up. I feel like I live in a bad dream now or somthing. The alternate 1985.
My grandparents used to drive said Oldsmobile. They got it brand new and kept it till it LITERALLY FELL APART. I mean, the steering wheel was jiggling when I'd try to drive it. Another downside was that it had only a 4 cylinder engine...not very powerful.
Not quite. I've got a '90... not a speck of rust, goes 85 on the Interstate without missing a beat, gets 35 a gallon, and costs $150 per six months to insure. The ultimate winter car.
haha. im actually dissing what i used to own. i tried to sell it but the engine said fuck it and died as i was driving the guy who was going to buy it. now its in a junk yard.
A friend had a Ciera back in 85. In never ran like a new car should have. In the shop getting fixed at the dealer. The only time it did run well was down hill.
YES! These cars really never die... almost everyone in my family has had one of these - through 4 generations. I got mine for a thousand bucks and repeatedly take it on 9+ hour road trips, getting 29 mpg. CANNOT BEAT IT.
No the Ciera (and Buick Century) were pretty darn good cars '96 and older. Very solidly built, smooth, quiet, better than average reliability. They were very dated by the 90's though (especially inteirors) and had very cheap interior materials. These make good used cars now. Cheap to buy, fix, keep up, and quite reliable.
Rather than killing it, they should have 'revitalized' the brand by bringing in a few niche models (one imagines now a retrolike 4-4-2 or a Glass roof Vista Cruiser - perhaps based from the Aussie Holden Commodore)...
Yeah that would have been a good direction for oldsmobile to head in. Sadly all the union and pension crap has made that nearly impossible for GM. I heard on the radio today that the American auto manufacturers end up paying American workers almost double what the Japanese pay their American workers. No wonder GM has to outsource to remain competitive. I just hope they don't kill pontiac b/c that is my favorite!!
Well, they did sell the Custom Cruiser wagon which featured a "vista roof", back in the early 90's. Classic full-size, rear-wheel drive, V8 American wagon. Kinda cool. Olds also came out with the Aurora in '95, trying to revitalize brand image. Didn't do enough though. Problem was, GM had so many different divisions that were making cars so similar, like Buick and Olds. Just too similar for most models.
I wish they could've saved Oldsmobile and killed off Saturn instead of turning them into the "new" Oldsmobile...but then again we got to keep the famed Saturn customer service.
I miss the Toro, and the Aurora, and all the rest :-(
Did you know I don't give a damm!!
