Hi i fell in love with your duck loopy. So I started a project of incubating call duck eggs. I had 4 eggs and only 1 started to vein and develope. So its day 17 now and he/she seems to be getting bigger. ( The shadowy figure in the egg is getting bigger) and bigger darker veins are appearing as well. If you have any experience with candling call duck eggs, do you think thats how it should be at 17 days?

A friend gave me the music. I don't know who it is or what it's called. It fit though.

Love the white calls. Loopy has a new daughter that is white. She is already bigger so probably won't win any prizes but I don't show and we love her.

I think indian runner ducks are one of the best types of ducks, they are crazy to have running around your garden :D

you have such a lovely mix of colours... I think Caboose (hope I spelt that right!) is especially beautiful!! I have 6 calls and I love them to bits but they're all white like Loopy which makes it slightly more difficult to tell them apart from each other sometimes :)

If they are with their mother, they will get oil from her feathers. If not, I think it takes several weeks but you could probably google for a better answer.

The ones we purchased were pinioned before we bought them. The ones we have raised we have flight feathers clipped on one side. They grow back after each molt.

I'm glad you weren't the one who did it. Clipping feathers is painless, and even though they grow back, with a small flock that's not really much of a problem.

Call ducks are a small breed so they are one of the few domestic ducks that fly well. We clip one side of their wings and that lets them fly a little but not far away. I am glad you like my ducks. thanks!

do your ducks get the water dirty.mine always mix dirt and stuff in the water..its like they cant eat without making a mess

yep, they get water filthy. they love filth and mucking around in the mud. For the tubs we have gravel around them and in the run we have a platform for it and a drain dug underneath it. Check out Loopy's Refurbished House video to see the tub in the run. I just posted it.

The white one is Loopy. She is our little mama and has stolen our hearts too. Her whiteness sometimes messes with the white balance on the vid camera!

They are all call ducks. The older male is Richard and he is mallard call. His son, Crumbles is a mix and we are not sure who the biological mother is but Loopy hatched him. Tippy is the sort of mallard looking Hen and Caboose was the last to hatch of a brood we had years ago from a chocolate call. I'll check out your vid later. I am being booted off the computer:)

Very good! I like the music (well timed) and some of the slow motion of the ducks flapping their wings. Good illustrations of duck behavior (which I study). Wish I could own my own ducks...but I live in an apartment.
