Tom ended up thinking she was the one, and he had a say that he wanted consistency. Soon, Summer came to realize that she wasn't in love with him, and she only wanted to be friends. There is nothing wrong with slow-dancing with a friend either. Point is, they wern't meant to be. But they both learned so much from eachother.

But be quite truthful (like the movie itself) love isn't something that you can control. It doesn't depend on your thoughts on life, which is never distinctive as life is always unpredictable and never planned. Love is something you know exists when you feel it. Life is nothing more than coincidence.
