also if anyone is planning on using barge glue just make sure you are in a very well ventilated room even better do it outside and leave whatever you have glued out there until the fumes have dissipated that shit cause serious health problems if not respected, you have been warned
this is awesome!!! great idea and if barge glue is used properly i.e. used liberally but not sloppily by putting on at least two layers on both sides then left to go off for a good 20 mins before sticking together it will not come undone that glue is the nutz!!!! great video well done
Those treads look better than anything out there, I'm going to try that with a pair of surplus boots I'll buy off the ebay and I'll get a used tire cheap somewhere, they are kind of like Ho Chi Minh sandals but combat style lol. Great job great idea and great craftsmanship plus it seems like a great recycling idea !
(..(")(") ♥♥♥♥♥ Serious DIY dude! I wanna try that too cuz gee look at those patterns of the tyre sole. You'll be leaving footprints tracks that would make a marine think he's being hunted down by some kind of a predator warrior LOL. What kinda glue did you use to attach the sole? Standard Shoemaker's Outsole glue? Did you stich the outsole as well or just glued 'em?
Very well done that woll last u years ... I'm a shorepsir in canada , my opinion the tread should have been the other way . And if u take 4 season tires or summer tires it last u long time .... But if u take winter tire it's less cause the winter tire is made soft . Very well very good jon .
We haven't figured out an easy way to pull the thread. A sheet for a pair of boots would be $30.00 for Blizzak thread which we have available at the moment
Oh sorry for answering that late, long time I didnt log in!!
$30.00 is a reasonable price, I just would like to know how thick it is because I dont need it for a pair of shoes I like very much but I cannot find same ones if I want to buy them again once they will be all consumed so I m thinking to let them repair in a way at least they will last long, as I walk a lot :D
If it s not too thick I would buy it if you send it to UK of course :)

Love it. Question: how did he affix the tread onto the boot? Just glue? Any sewing/nails as well? Is just glue enough?
babakew 2 months ago
@babakew the glue used was Barge glue and if it wants to unstick, cyano glue (krazy glue) can be used

are these old tires?
jradetzky 6 months ago
@jradetzky Tires that are at the threadwear. Usually a set of four winter tires gets replaced when one tire reaches treadwear.
