This keyboard is just SO AWESOME! :D!!! Bought it 2 days ago and i really like it :) I play competitive cod4 promod (aku) where movement is a huge skill advantage, and this keyboard lets me handle my movement so much better :) Thanks for the review :) and the product ;) steelseries <3
@DayYytona Im not dimitry, but I'll tell you what I know. So if your not getting the widow for macros or backlighting , I do in every case suggest steelseries. It's faster, safer, of higher grade and it has better springs under the keys. But just so your warned, the g series have 70 gram weight in keys, while that doesnt sound like much, it ain't light on your fingers after long use, where the widow is at 50 grams. But you must read about the switches before buying
I just purchased one today and it's nice, I just have one thing. My enter-key isn't entirely stabilized. The "upper" key/part of it isn't stabilized, only the two lower keys are. Make sense? Anyone else have this issue, or is it just that the way it is designed. Are there stabilizers in this keyboard for the enter key?
Since you emphasized that it is a mechanical keyboard I would have liked you to at least briefly go over the various types of switches there are and what it means that these are black ones. :)
I bought the 6gv2 (my last keyboard was a logitech g510 keyboard) and I'm in fucking love with it. The keys are feels fucking wonderful to press and it is very solid. the keyboard is kind of loud but for me it is no problem. The only thing I found annoying is that my ps2 adapter didn't work. I would rate this 8/10
I used to have this, then I got the Corsair Vengeance K90 and I think it's much better, the corsair feels like better quality and I like the red switches more than the black ones. the only reason I got the K90 instead of the K60 is because it's backlit. I'd actually rather have a backlit K60 as I don't want all the extra Gkeys on the K90. Tho all of that is just my opinion.
I had this keyboard for a week, and it's very pleasant to use! I prefer the Cherry Blacks over the Blues - if you come from a membrane keyboard, the 6GV2 keys seem softer to press. I'm very satisfied with the purchase.
Gamers who rage are usually children whos parents bought them all their gaming stuff. No matter how bad I get pwned I would not risk breaking a $100 keyboard in RL because I had to pay for that shit myself.
Excellent. Beyond words. Easily one of my favorite tech reviewers now! I think you can easily be compared to tldtoday or jon4lakers IMO, but it might just be me. KUTGW!
i love your reviews, you know what you talk about and you talk very clear (and english!) i hate when ppl are like "mumble.... Mechanical Switches mumble...." etc.. keep up your epic reviews!
A tip from a guy that owns the 6G V2: DONT DRINK FUCKING COKE !(or other stuff you can drink with sugar in it!) It will mess up all the Keys, my : m n h z 6 u j dont work anymore because of that !:(
@MathusPlays How is the tactile feedback? some people say its there some people say it isnt. Also how easy is it to press ? pretty easy? only mechanical keyboard i tried was a mx cherry blue and this one is black if I absolutely feel in love with the feel of the blue wouold I like these too?
@Hamish500000 Expensive? It's the cheapest mechanical keyboard around, and not to sound elitist but if you care at all about having nice keys at your fingertips you must have one. There are keyboards for ten times the price of this one, that I've seriously considered buying.
According to my knowledge, this one uses Cherry MX-Black and the Blackwidow from Razer uses Cherry MX-Blue. Pretty tough choice between these 2, although I heard people say that Cherry MX-Black is better for gaming so as Cherry MX-Blue is great for word typing. I am both gaming and typing a lot. Great review by the way :D
@MYMAnarchy Yes you are correct! Uses Cherry MX-Black keys. I've tried Blackwidow and it doesnt feel as solid as the 6Gv2. The keys are slightly easier to press on BlackWidow and they are much lighter, making the overall product feel cheap. The 6Gv2 is real nice for both typing and gaming, not going back to silicone keyboards no more.
@MYMAnarchy Not sure if yuo made a choice yet. To be honest, MX Blue is loud, is all. Black really is the way to go. Not trying to be a razer fanboy... buuuut.... wait yeah im totally being a steelseries fanboy -.-
@brandondapro it depends on your typing and gaming usage. As I said it's really tough to choice, but I still have a pretty good amount of time to research before I can make any purchase on a gaming keyboard
@SyndicateR1 Awesome! glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the compliment! Expect some more in the near future, seems like steelseries like my stuff and i should expect more from them!
@RoyalPCmods I wouldn't call this a shitty keyboard! much more solid then my other Logitech G110 gaming keyboard. I love the mechanical keys and it has amazing feedback for FPS gaming. I suggest you try it before bashing this great product!
I think it sucks big time that they removed the win button from there, since it is ONLY used win + d and win + e... all in the left part of the layout :/ Most games allow you to disable the win button while in the game... That's the only thing I dont like about it, otherwise it sounds/looks awsome!!!
Nice review dimi! I agree that steelseries 6Gv2 is a good, simple and smart keyboard, but i really dont like it ;( too "old-school" style for Me! Btw, good review 5/5!
@Jackles2012 Yes, that would have added a nice touch, but i guess they were going for simplicity in this one! Razer offers a mechanical keyboard with backlit keys and some other features, however i bet the built quality is more poor with razer products!
@the5creename Yes i love how simple it looks. fits my DELL u2311h very well. Its the same type of black coating on both the keyboard and the keyboard. XD
@duysmith Thanks! yes its quite nice with the feedback of mechanical keys. I've had the G110 gaming keyboard from Logitech with the macro keys and all, however never found myself using them, thus the switch to this keyboard.
@Zillerz3 I am not a big fan of Razer products. i think they try to focus on making their products pretty but not very concentrated in terms of build quality.
These plain and simple type gaming boards are good for shooters or other, less complex display games. But for mmos or rpgs i prefer having programable keys and a display is always a plus. I love my logitech g15
