  • Fabulous! First time i spotted you ease up on the brakes, must be all that speed wing flying ;-)

  • Nice cloud street and great footage on the Hero Reech....looks like a nice site!

See you on a hill soon.

    Nik.

  • Ooh - just seen it.. Shit - that's very scary!

  • Haha, twisted riser - seen, done it myself many times! Nice vid!

  • @raveydv That's what I thought at first Dave - but no... follow the thread...

  • Very nice video Reech... and I was following you some way behind up that cloud street. It was good to get right away from the crowd at the hill, wasn't it?

Reached my personal best climb to 1566' ato... very chuffed!

Glad you enjoyed your first flight here - you must come back for an XC... you can get about 40 km to Swanage on a good day (my ambition).

Hope to see you again - with the speed bar line in the right place...

  • @jezeroo Speed bar was okay...... HINT 'risers'......

  • Aha, I see it now... you had a 180º twist when you attached your right set of risers to the harness carabiner. A minor inconvenience. I once flew for half an hour with both sets of risers twisted by 360º and I didn't want to do a forward roll to untwist them. Made the speed bar difficult to use though...

  • @jezeroo Getting closer...... You gotta look real hard to see it!

  • @Reechforthesky Displaced rubber band on the C-risers shackle.

  • @jezeroo How about completely open maillon on the right B riser...........

  • @jezeroo Completely open maillon on the right B riser......

  • @Reechforthesky Sheesh! Yep - now you've mentioned it can see the barrel is wound down and daylight visible! I'm sure they're over-engineered enough to give a big safety factor and at least the rubber band is in place on that riser to keep the lines on... unlike the one on the C! At least you spotted it in time.

To change the subject - loved the Rhossili video. Looks like a lovely site... I'll have to check it out. Cheers mate!

  • @jezeroo Might be flyable at Rhosilli on Saturday!

  • @Reechforthesky Sounds like a plan... I'll keep an eye on XCWeather & RASP. A bit of a haul from here (Christchurch) might be a bit late. Is it open site or do I need temp membership (like Derbyshire SC)?

  • where is this site? always looking for new sites to try, or sit on and wait for the weather.

  • @markymark9172 Very nice site. Google 'Wessex Bell Hill' and you should be able to find all the info about it.

  • That good height for this time of year. it seems a popular site by the amount of wings with you.

  • i know you'v got a wide angle lens, but you look quite high, what was your A,T,O height reech.

  • @iforfly Got to just over 2000 ATO. Didn't want to get too close to the clouds. I needed to see what they were doing and where they were.

  • Dunno about the defect - you didn't use your speed bar much as far as I could tell, maybe the lines were routed incorrectly?

Was that a glider in the gorse at 1:22?

Maybe you should have come to Batcombe though - I was back on the hill at 4pm after my xc to the coast!

    Nice vid as always!

  • Once the HD version is available have a look for a serious defect in my glider. It's very small but important! Hint: Do very careful preflight checks!

  • @Reechforthesky The defect can be seen at 2:19

  • Fabulous Rich! Musta been good the number of wings in the air and you did really well to get away from them all, nothing quite like having the sky to oneself :-)
