Actually, it takes more like an $800 gaming computer to play it well. Computer's aren't optimized to play Wii games, so it takes more power than it should (an $800 gaming computer kills a Wii in raw power).
@coolaidkiller101 My comment is nearly 1 year old, and you're responding to it...no it was not a core 2 duo, and even if it was, the name doesn't matter, any dual core @ 3.5Ghz is the same as any other. And as for your performance issues, ever heard of adjusting settings?
Not twice, and two 5770's cost almost $100 less, with the same or more performance. However, I hate ATI. I've currently got a 5770, and the drivers are completely unacceptable. Crashes in games every 15 minutes.
@coolaidkiller101 I'd recommend an AMD 6870, Nvidia GTX 560 TI, or an Nvidia GTX 460 1GB. All of those are overkill by a long shot for Wii emulation, as they're really nice graphics cards. But if you have a highly overclocked quadcore processor like yours, you might as well get good parts to complement it.
@nuttynerd i ve heard that ram can increase cpu performence vastlly if set correctly, and im not running dual channel becuase ive got 2gb+1gb=3gb total at 1333mhz
Man. i have ssbb i have dolphin emulator. every thing looks good. but when i start the game i get a green screen that says "Please insert SSB cd". did you have this problem. if yes how did you solve it?? thx
What version of Dolphin are you using? I suggest using a version between 3350 and 3450. Switching versions may solve your problem. If not, let me know.
Alright. I'm using a pentium 4 right now at 3.0 ghz and going to upgrade to the amd. A bit of a hassle with switching to the completely different motherboard and such. I don't think my graphics card would be a problem with the emulator, its a Geforce 8600 gt, but I'm not sure how the wii's specs are and I assume its pretty high due to its still a newer console
I see. I assume having 4 cores at 3.2 ghz OC wouldn't make much of a difference compared to 3 cores because of the feature on the emulator which enables only 2 cores. Am I right or completely off lol?
I'm using an AMD Phenom X3 720 Black Edition actually. And I have it overclocked to 3.2 GHz, which helps with the speed. Phenom II's are really nice processors.
That's because when the game is actually loaded, the emulator has to perform many more calculations than when you first press play, thus the drop in speed.
Sorry about that. Emulating isn't perfect yet. Maybe they'll optimize Dolphin some more. Till then...You might try overclocking your processor (if you're not using a laptop). That would help some. If you're using a laptop, then you'll just have to upgrade sometime if you want to emulate at full speed.
Have you tried Super Smash Bros Melee? It will run much faster than Brawl, though perhaps not at full speed. I'd say to try any Gamecube game that takes your fancy, as they all run faster than SSBB.
OK. So your CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo, and you're saying that your graphics are the Intel 965 Express Series. If I understand you correctly, your graphics are really holding you back. You need a good graphics card to emulate Brawl (Nvidia 8600 GT or better, ATI 3650 or better). Remember: faster=better. Intel graphics cards aren't that fast, which is why the game is running slow.
What are your computer's specs? Dolphin mainly uses the CPU to emulate games, so if you don't have a dual core (or if your dual core is below 2.8-3.0 GHz), it's going to be slow. If you do have a dual core, make sure that under "Options/Configure", you have "Enable Dual Core" checked. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
pls upload some vids of you playing f zero gx and metroid prime 1,2,3 too watch my vids of f zero gx on pentium 4

@trazaaa No.

Interesting...
So, it takes is a $500 dollar gaming computer to play it around 80% perfectly? (Because you said it lagged on some maps.) Very, very intriguing.

I do understand all that, but I just didn't know it took a 9600 GT to run it almost perfectly. Key word: almost.

Cool beans.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
9600GT is pretty lowend
adrienspawn 2 years ago
@nuttynerd psent $420 on my gaming comp and I can run any Wii game at about 50FPS, specs are:
Nvidia Geforce GT220
Intel Pentium Dual Core OC'ed @ 3.5GHz
4GB of RAM
Windows 7 64-Bit
750GB SATA HDD

@NadTheBat Not bad. That's pretty fast for that rig.

@nuttynerd oh no wondor i get gfx crashes?with nvidia this happens too?
coolaidkiller101 7 months ago
@coolaidkiller101 Nope. Almost never happens. Nvidia drivers are infinitely better than ATI/AMD drivers.

@nuttynerd so what gpu and good price do you recomend to play with a phenom ii x4 970 @4.07ghz

did you download brawl or did you by the disk
Delvilmonster92 2 years ago
You have to have a special DVD drive (by LG) to make an ISO of the disk. I don't have one. Downloaded the ISO.

Yes, the 8600 GT will work well with Dolphin emulating Brawl. I wouldn't turn up the anti-aliasing, though.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
Okk. Thanks for your help.
eurobeatblackmetal 2 years ago
No problem.
nuttynerd 2 years ago

eurobeatblackmetal 2 years ago
Right on spot. Dolphin only takes advantage of two cores, so having more doesn't make a difference in speed, though higher clock spped does.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
Hm, is it possible to play this on an AMD phenom II 940 black edition with your speeds?
eurobeatblackmetal 2 years ago
I'm using an AMD Phenom X3 720 Black Edition actually. And I have it overclocked to 3.2 GHz, which helps with the speed. Phenom II's are really nice processors.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
of course ,that processor is a lot faster than the 720, you can overclock it to 3.6 without a sweat.
DanielCriticalMX 2 years ago
do you think i can play it on Nvidia 8400GS 512 MB
i have a intel core 2 duo (3.0GHZ) processor
h134hatem 2 years ago
You should be able to, but I wouldn't turn on antialiasing or anistropic filtering. In other words, leave the settings on low.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
yeah, try overclocking your processor to 3.4 and it should run really nice.
DanielCriticalMX 2 years ago
what game cube games work for dolphin cause i tried a few and some dont work
RiosBOY1 2 years ago
will it work on a Nvidia 6100 graphics card
RiosBOY1 2 years ago
It might, depending on your processor. If you have a fast dual core or Phenom II you might be OK, but your 6100 is going to have a hard time with it.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
I got it on normal speed

robinstar57 2 years ago
You can use a keyboard or a Gamecube controller. I use the keyboard.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
ok tyvm but is it hard to play with a keyboard?
robinstar57 2 years ago
It's not a problem, it's just that they need to be better optimized.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
Yes, it does.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
That's because when the game is actually loaded, the emulator has to perform many more calculations than when you first press play, thus the drop in speed.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
50 FPS. is "full" speed on Dolphin.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
Yeah, hopefully they'll improve the emulation speed. It takes way too much power to run games at full speed right now.
nuttynerd 2 years ago
Sorry about that. Emulating isn't perfect yet. Maybe they'll optimize Dolphin some more. Till then...You might try overclocking your processor (if you're not using a laptop). That would help some.
