These aren't 'new' tunes. They've been around for a while. You can use a basic hornpipe beating and a standard jig beating for this set. It ain't that hard.
good job man! Noticed you played in the 78th Highlanders in Halifax too! You make a fellow HKer in Canada proud. I am in the army reserves here in Vancouver, and I would love to march onto parade to the tunes of your pipes. Hope to see you on parade here in Vancouver sometime, someday.
wowo! a bagpiper from hong kong? speaking as a tin whistler from malaysia, i can truly say music is universal. brilliant piping!! really goes with the full costume hehe
Nah British Army pipers have worn whites in Far East for years and they all look great. Problem is if they aren't cut right it shows far more obviously than the Archer Green doublets because of the way white reflects light. It's true CLee's doublet looks bit tight. Could use an inch or more on the cuffs.
When you blow you puff your cheeks dont puff them have a good ambusher you play a lot easier and longer ( it does that for me atleast) Other than that good piping.Where can I get the first tune?
wheres a good place to get highland piper clothing?
PS. good playing. I loved Glascow City Police pipers- You should also try to learn the Captains Pledge by Bill Livingstone- I reckon it would sound great if played by you.
Well done. I don´t know for how long you are playing. Practice a wee bit more the birls, to get sure of them. Scale with Birls every day and then the ones with G-Gracenote. Try to get a softer sound of your Chanter, it is a wee bit screaming in comparison to your drones. Timing is good. Pointed G/D/E is scottish style and it does not work with Glasgow City. You should play irish style, round it a wee bit. And move your chanter reed a wee bit. The whole chanter is to sharp. Otherwise well done.
You played the first part of glasgow 3 times.. and I'm not a big fan for cut dot GDE's (if thats what you were going for..) in jigs.. Especially when you play the rest of the jig round..
Not bad, Glasgow city could have been played a bit straighter though just my opinion. But the gold ring was good, maybe a bit out of control in parts but otherwise nice. Keep piping.
Your doublet is too small for you you need longer arms, your stripes are too high up your arm. for your playing your GDEs need abit if work but good tempo and try to hold back the Gold Ring and you re going to be good if you keep practicing
No: as one who plays that movement poorly, I can say that mine are terrible. But what's so bad about his G-D-E's? He's only playing it Scottish style, with more syncopation, rather than the rounded Irish style.
Nice. Been working on Glasgow City Police Pipers for a bit, just got handed The Gold Ring last night!!! Ugh!!! Great job!!

Excellent job! Fingers seemed to lag just a wee bit at the end; doublings were slower. Anyone else notice that? Might just be me. Anyway, good work.

his G-E-D's are fine. he's just playing in march 6/8 rather the jig 6/8.
very good!
sacredsong 4 years ago
your pipes sound weird. maybe a wee bit on the flat side? or just the quality?
Transit107 4 years ago
I think it's the quality of the vid, you know how vids can be. I tried to record my pipes on the cam, and they sounded scores sharp.
Kilfio 4 years ago 2
Good solid playing for a young lad.Going to be a excellent piper if you keep this up.Well done.

Meh, a little sloppy, and your G-D-E grace notes are terrible on Glasgow city police pipers. they should be eaqual.
HighlandBagpiper22 5 years ago
yeah you should make them a little more distinct
resto776 4 years ago
thats scottish style rather than the rounded irish style- hes playing in march 6/8 rather than jig 6/8.
