The original solo was not one continuous piece. It was put together in the studio out of pieces. This guy is the first one of their players to do it right. Just like the record. Well, that ive seen, anyway.
@KeplersLawProject - absolutely agree with you - Lou Gramm is still considered as one of the best pop/rock voices for the last 30 years - a real icon !!!!
con el correr de los años foreigner fue cambiando poco a poco cada uno de sus integrantes se fue haciendo camino y llegaron otros muy buenos tambien pero nadie llenará el lugar que tubo Lou Gramm en algun momento estando en foreigner
@Danielmutt Well, I don't think that Thom Gimbel is pretending to be, he makes his own version and hey, Junior Walker only played on the original record, he never played with Foreigner on whatever live performance or show, so it's not even fair to compare. If you want to compare, then compare the Foreigner members who played the sax in previous line-ups and the current line-up.
Gets Your facts straight!!! Junior walker Played once in california and once in New york. Read it in a junior walker cover......As a matter a fact it took Mutt Lange and Mick Jones 2=days to edit several individual recordings to get the Great Junior Walker Solo we here on the original Recording..... What amazed the Band when junior played is that He Played the Solo just as it was edited at the studio... The Band was Floored according to Mick Jones.....
Hey I loved the "unplugged" KORG M1 there LOL haha ;-)..just kiddin. seriously, these guys are still awesome to see live so don't miss them, even despite not havin' Lous superb vocals. Cheers.
a better unpluggt version is on the "the definitive" album (last song). but this is still great. thx all "foreigner's in the world".the most of us,but only you not!!!
Yes. Mick looked very aged in this performance, but Lou looks fresh and youthful. I think Lou was in his prime from 1992-1993, both physically (sexy) and vocally. However, by 1995, Lou looked worn and haggard. Check out the "Until the End of Time" video by Foreigner for confirmation of this. I speculate that by 1995, Lou was probably experiencing some health problems, possibly related to his brain tumor that was removed in 1997.
@ny4000 I saw Lou before his health problems, some 20 years after the recordings. It floored me hearing what sounded like the original recordings.. Then i saw him after and it was so sad. I beleive lou is now performing in another arena of artist..
Lou sounded amazing, as good as the studio version if not better.

And all members playing the sax were damn good, otherwise ol' Mick Jones wouldn't have selected them for Foreigner in the first place!!!

who was the longest-running sax player, for Lou and the guys: Tom Gimbel, Mark Rivera or Scott Gillman?
worldofoutlaws9 2 years ago
Best sax solo ever!

A young Tom Gimbel on Sax.
See him on the new 'Can't Slow Down' DVD.
Surprisingly Gramm would be the only other member seen here in the current band.

@MacMark2 Actually this I believe is a far superior vocal performance than on the Definitive CD. He doesnt fuck up the cue either on this version.

@azazael07 The Atlantic Records 40th anniversary version was also awesome. It's a very difficult song to sing like he does.

Is Lou's hair red there or is that just the lighting? He is sexy. What is Musicmatch? Don't recall that show. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
ny4000 3 years ago
I'm guessing it's the lighting. Mark Rivera (or whomever is playing the saxophone) looks like he's got purple hair!

Nope, not Mark Rivera. That's Tom Gimbel. :-)
