To any and everyone that has made a negative comment about this song... GROW UP... Not every song will be the same and shouldn't be.... That's her true genius.... And for that matter, this lovely creature that we are all so blessed to be entertained and inspired by has more musical genius in her little finger than most of will ever have in our entire lives... So stop the negativity and embrace the beauty that is the musical goddess Imogen Heap!
There is a lot of growth from her first album a sort of dark safe haven of self to a lighter openess of growth from that experience. It's been a truly artistic journey that has been beautiful and inspiring as an audience. A lovely process of evolution which she honors and shares. Thank you Imogen, for your bravery and encouraging the positive cycles of life. For bringing us back to our roots and creating the spark of life. Love to you.
I think people may be missing the point to this track imo. I don't think Imogen is bringing all of her song writing power to flex with this piece. I think it's more of a conceptual thing, hence the 3D sound. If you listen closely it really does have a strong emphasis on the sound design elements as opposed to her traditional work. Personally I'm not comparing this to previous work because I don't think it was meant to be anything like her previous work. But, that's only my opinion.
I don't mean to be blunt, but I was expecting more from her next, new single. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good song but I just don't feel it from this single. Lifeline was much better in my opinion, but yet again, it's only my opinion and that doesn't matter much.
I have to say, at first I was a little disappointed with this song. The lyrics 'I'm growing roots through my toes and leaves from my fingertips' I still kind of dislike, but apart from that the song has really grown on me. I can't stop listening!
Honestly, imogen heap is the only artist i listen to when i get stoned. Her music makes me cry with joy every time. Her music is pure bliss, it is so uplifting, soft, spiritual, and pure. This is amazing!
Conflicted. I loove this video - it's absolutely gorgeous! And from her blogs I knew it would be something like this.
But I thought it would be fun if the video was literally in her perspective (with the camera being through her eyes) and actually being in the settings we hear going on throughout the song .. perhaps switching to some of the ball sequences/becoming a tree during the chorus.
I think It would've really brought out the 3D audio experience.
I will miss her old sound from speak for yourself this is good too but I wish it was more upbeat the music is epic I was hopeing when will the beat kick in but it stayed steady.
I love the song. I love the video. I don't love them together though.
I would have put some more urban spaces because although the soundscape in general seems natural, a lot of sounds are urban or interwoven with things that happens in buildings (e.g. during the lines "queue, food, drink up, continue"; or "wedding rings").
Having said that, the acoustic experience is just amazing! The song is absolutely beautiful and I have been listening to it on repeat since last night! :-)
i love imogen and have done for years... but i feel she is getting a bit too conceptual in recent years... i much prefer the listenability of Speak For Yourself :/ [2]

@unidan82 everybody's changing... i like "speak for yourself" too, but i think she puts the emphasis on feelings and tranquility these days and makes song like this.
