I need to do this to the cheeks of my axe, no electric tools though, I got it pretty shiny with 2000 grit paper, a mirror finish with slight milkiness when looked at from the right angle. Only thing is, once you oil it up the mirror finish goes away for the most part, but it is mainly to reduce friction when chopping. Starting to ramble. You can do good work, you should make a steel hand mirror for your partner if you have one.
